Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Overall good experience. An observation rather than a criticism - My brother is considerably younger than most of the other residents, and more able to communicate more freely. Many are fairly non-communicative. Although he is not by nature a mixer, he is rather isolated by this fact. The staff, good
as they are, cannot devote more of their time to hum but he needs more mental stimulation. The rooms are fine - I guess it is up to individuals, within reason, to add 'touches'. All care is expensive.
Reply from Helen Peach, CEO at Aldbourne Nursing HomeThank you for your review and for sharing your thoughtful observations.

We are pleased that your overall experience has been positive and appreciate your recognition of our team. We understand that your brother's circumstances and interests may differ from many of our other residents, and we continue to look for opportunities that provide meaningful engagement and reflect individual preferences.

We were particularly pleased to be able to support his recent presentation to the local Cub group. It was wonderful to see both him and his audience so engaged, and it was clear that everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Thank you again for your feedback. Comments such as yours are valuable in helping us continue to develop our service.

My mum has been a resident at Aldbourne Nursing Home for about 3 years. She is very comfortable there, has made many new friends and loves the staff - they are very kind and always good fun. Her room is very pleasant, the food is good and the staff always seem to have some sort of engaging activity
on the go. Mum turned 90 a few months ago and the staff arranged a huge cake and all sang happy birthday which mum absolutely loved ! The leadership at Aldbourne keep my sisters and I well appraised of any potential issues. We are all very happy that mum is staying at Aldbourne Nursing Home !
Reply from Helen Peach, CEO at Aldbourne Nursing HomeThank you for your lovely review.

We are so pleased to hear that your mum has been happy at Aldbourne over the past three years and that she has made good friends and enjoys the company of our team. Creating a warm, engaging and homely environment is very important to us, so it's wonderful to know this has been your family's experience.

We love making birthdays special for our residents, and we're glad your mum enjoyed celebrating her 90th birthday with us. It was a memorable occasion for everyone involved.

Thank you also for your kind comments about our communication. We know how important it is for families to feel informed and involved, and we're pleased this has given you and your sisters confidence and peace of mind.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback.

My 93 year old Mother has been a resident for three years
She is looked after by a wonderful, caring and compassionate team who cannot do enough for her.
She is totally content within the environment.
As her Power Of Attorney I am totally happy with all the arrangements
All in all five star.
Reply from Helen Peach, CEO at Aldbourne Nursing HomeThank you so much for your wonderful review. It means a great deal to us to know that your mother feels happy, content, and well cared for in our home.

We are especially grateful for your kind words about our team. We are quite selective on our recruitment and providing compassionate, person-centred care is at the heart of everything we do, and it is incredibly rewarding to know that this has made such a positive difference to your mother's experience over the past three years.

Thank you for placing your trust in us and for taking the time to share your feedback. We look forward to continuing to support your mother and your family.

My husband received the most wonderful care from all the staff for 6 months whilst he was in the home. His physical mobility deteriorated during that time so he needed help with everything which he got with such kindness. He was also given true nursing care when that was needed. He loved all the food
which was home made. He enjoyed the activities which he could participate in. Everywhere was always spotlessly clean and his laundry was done beautifully- even his jerseys. The children and I were always welcomed. We could always find a me,bet of staff to talk to if needed.
There is a happy atmosphere.
Reply from Helen Peach, CEO at Aldbourne Nursing HomeThank you for your kind and thoughtful review.

It was a pleasure to care for your husband during his time with us, and to support him as his needs changed. It was also a pleasure to see you in the home so frequently and we are glad you felt it was a supportive and welcoming environment and that you felt part of our happy home throughout his stay.

Your comments about the staff, nursing care, food, activities, cleanliness and laundry are very much appreciated and will be shared with the team.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

My Mum has been at this wonderful nursing home for around 3 years and the care that she has received has been excellent.
The staff are highly qualified, professional and very kind and caring. I visit my Mum 3-4 times a week and also volunteer to help at the home once a week so I am around quite a
bit and can come to visit at any time. I can honestly say that Mum is so well looked after. I know members of the caring and nursing staff well and they are just wonderful.
The food is great, there are activities each day and it really feels like a home from home.
I would highly recommend Aldbourne Nursing Home and if I needed a nursing/ care home, it is most definitely where I would choose.
Reply from Helen Peach, CEO at Aldbourne Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review.

Were especially pleased that you have chosen to volunteer with us as well. Having family members involved in the home in this way is something we really value, and its lovely to know it has given you even more time with your mum and our community.

Thank you again for your kind recommendation.

My parents are both in Aldbourne Nursing Home. They are both 92 . Mum has to use a wheelchair and Dad uses a walking frame. The staff at ANH are simply brilliant. There skills, commitment and empathy is overwhelming. I don't know how they do it so consistently and so well.
The place is always clean
and immaculate!. There's a good, welcoming atmosphere. My parents were in another home for a few months before moving to Aldbourne. That home had larger rooms but the staff were run off their feet. The call alarms went off constantly and my parents were really unhappy.
Aldbourne Nursing home runs lots of activities and is well designed so that quiet time in the gardens is always available. My parents love it when the school children visit! Every attention to detail is attended to. For example, there are always fresh flowers on the dining tables.
I can't thank the staff enough. I hated the idea of them having to live in a home so it's such a relief that it's a good one!

Aldbourne Care Home is a very well managed facility. My mother has now been living there for nearly 2 years and we have got to know the staff well over that time. They are all very caring and patient people who give my Mum the best of care, both mentally and physically. They are very sympathetic and
loving and she has developed close relationships with many of them.
Staff are always very welcoming to visitors and a cup of tea or coffee is always on offer.
The food is fantastic and very much enjoyed by Mum, who has spent 50+ years working as a professional cook, so a high bar for the staff which they meet with ease!
Reply from Helen Peach, CEO at Aldbourne Nursing HomeThank you for your wonderful review and for your continued trust in our special team.

We are so pleased to hear that your mother has been so happy with us over the past two years and that she has built such positive relationships with our staff. Your kind words about our team's care and dedication mean a great deal to us.

The staff at Aldbourne Nursing Home facilitated a Zoom Diamond Anniversary Celebration for my grandparents today. This was after having arranged a silver service lunch, specifically for them, during the day. I am immensely grateful for this, it made my day to be able to talk to my grandparents to celebrate
their anniversary. Similarly, I think they were delighted to have been able to talk to their family on their special day.
Reply from Helen Peach, Registered Manager at Aldbourne Nursing HomeThank you, Archie, I think that despite the constraints forced upon us by Covid-19, your grandparents had a wonderful day celebrating such a remarkable achievement. This was a team effort. It was great to see their whole family come together for them. They were so grateful.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.442)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.442) out of 10 for Aldbourne Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.792 for Aldbourne Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (78 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.792
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Aldbourne Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.65
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
