My brother was a recent resident at this home and we cannot praise the staff high enough their attention to the care and wellbeing for all the residents is on another level, nothing is too much trouble whatever the residents ask for they will pull out all the stops to sort it out, when I said all the
staff everyone from the cleaners ,the kitchen staff , the laundry staff and not to forget the fantastic nurses who face every aspect of emotions every day but greet everyone with the most beautiful caring smiles and you know your lived ones are in good hands and that is a great comfort for all the relatives at the most worrying times

I have both my parents at Ridgeway, dad has been there just over 4 years and mum just a year. I can't fault any of the staff, they are all extremely supportive and caring for the residents. They are very friendly and helpful with any questions I might have and are very professional at all times. Yes,
it's an old building but improvements are now being made as there is a new owner. I'm very happy with the care both of my parents are receiving. I've knocked a star off for the rooms as not all have en suite toilets. I would highly recommend Ridgeway!

My father came to the home in January when it was suggested by the hospital that his last few weeks would be more comfortable in a nursing home setting. For context, he had suffered a severe stroke back in November 2023 and had essentially given up. Not only did the nursing home take excellent care
of him but gave him a new lease of life. Within a week or two of being there, he was significantly more comfortable, relaxed, and engaged with life which in itself is a testament to the care he received.
I can't overstate enough how kind and caring the staff have been to my father for the duration of his stay until his eventual passing in September. In addition, the staff were also incredibly supportive of my mother who suffers from severe anxiety, taking the time to chat and reassure her whenever she visited.
Ridgeway feels homely and warm and all the residents seemed well settled. The entertainment provided was varied and engaging, they even got my father singing during karaoke!

My dad received fantastic care in the home, in the short time he was there, before he passed away. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, the rooms were nice and private for the whole family. Would recommend Ridgeway to anyone who is thinking about taking their loved ones there.

The staff at Ridgeway Nursing Home such great care of Mum in her last weeks. I wish we had moved her here sooner.
The food was specially presented to meet mum's needs. She was treated with dignity and regret. A warm and loving environment.

What a team at Ridgeway! They care for my mum every day. They give her respect and dignity allowing her to be the best she can be while struggling with this awful illness. I don't think she knows me any longer but I am confident that she feels safe with any of the Ridgeway Care Team. A mention must
also be made to the catering crew. They work so hard to constantly turn out interesting and tempting tasty food for all the residents.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ridgeway Nursing Home, they have shown 5 star care throughout my Dad stay with them. All the staff are polite and treated him with such high standards. He was always clean, freshly shaven and made very comfortable in his surroundings. The staff could do more for you,
they go above and beyond their duty, to ensure all residents and their family feel welcome.
Thankyou so much for looking after my Dad when I wasn’t able to, you have all made the journey much easier, kind regards.

My mum stayed at Ridgeway for 6 weeks as part of a move from the South Coast, to Derbyshire, in order to be close to family. She was really worried about going into care again following a two week stay at another home, which did not go well. However, mum's worries were completely unfounded. The staff
at Ridgeway were lovely and caring and nothing was too much trouble for them. My dad was able to visit every couple of days and was always made to feel welcome. The nursing staff made sure that all of mum's health needs were assessed and mum was able to see a GP in person for the first time in 6 months. The move to Derbyshire has been complicated and traumatic as mum has had a severe stroke, but things have gone according to plan thanks to the excellent care she received at Ridgeway. Had mum not been content there, things would have been very different. Mum is now happy and settled in her new home, but still talks about the staff and her positive experience at Ridgeway. Thank you.

Due to covid, visiting restrictions are still in place and so I can only comment on what I see. However, I cannot find any faults with the staff and accommodation and I am most happy with the way mom is being treated.

When looking for a nursing home for my wife, my daughter and I visited numerous homes and Ridgeway stood out above all the others. Two years, and a bit, later and my opinion has not changed. All the staff are pleasant and helpful, also they treat the residents with respect. Food is good and plentiful.
A better place than Ridgeway cannot be found, 10 out of 10.

A lot of the staff have been there for a lot of years, therefore being very knowledgeable about the running of the home - because of this they are very approachable and makes you feel reassured that things will get done and any issues will be sorted as soon as possible.

My experience with Ridgeway nursing home Belper is second to none. You can visit whenever you want, morning and night. I ask the sister in charge what medication my father is on and they tell you exactly what it is. All the care staff, cleaners, nurses, laundry lady all join in to talk to the residents.
It's just like a really close family and nothing is too much trouble for him and the assistants. Overall I think it is one of the best care homes I have ever seen. I have never had any issues. Just loving and caring.

I am very pleased with the way mum is treated at Ridgeway Nursing Home. The staff are very kind and caring and very patient with her. The food is exceptional. The hygiene is good - whenever we visit mum everywhere looks clean and the staff well presented. I am a little disappointed that when mum was
assessed recently neither me nor her appointed nurse was invited to join the assessment panel. Overall I would recommend Ridgeway Nursing Home to anyone looking for a care/nursing home.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.544)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.544) out of 10 for Ridgeway Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.889 for Ridgeway Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (32 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.889
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.655 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ridgeway Nursing Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.4 = 0.405
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
