My dad has been cared for by Norlands since June 2023, the care and respect he has received during this time has been second to none. We were apprehensive about my dad going into a nursing home at first but due to his dementia, it was the only solution. We need not have worried, as all the staff are
amazing, they have given my dad the utmost respect, care and attention. Nothing has been too much trouble, they have supported me and my family in making sometimes difficult decisions. We have laughed and cried during this journey and I feel part of the Norlands family. Dementia is cruel but if there is one positive we take from this situation as a family, it is Norlands. From the owner to the nurses, to the carers, to the cooks, to the cleaners, to the handyman and the gardener, each and every one of the staff are a credit and they have my utmost respect. Thank you for looking after my dad, your kindest and care will never be forgotten.

Mum has been a resident at Norlands since May 2022. During this time she has always been treated with dignity and respect. All staff go above and beyond to ensure Mum is comfortable and safe. The owner is very much involved in all aspects of the home and is a credit to her establishment. There is nowhere
else that I would want my mum to live and, if she was able, I know she would agree.

Both of my grandparents are at Northlands after their previous care home shut down. I couldn't ask for a better home. The room is always clean and tidy. Staff are great and always keep me updated. They have both settled in so well! Food always seems well represented.

When the home, my wife was originally in had closed, I was devastated. I had no need to be as the Norlands Nursing Home has exceeded my expectations. The staff are brilliant and caring. My wife has settled in and the staff look after her fantastically. I am pleased she is in this home run by caring
people who are very professional and caring.

My grandma who at the time of writing is 104 came into Norlands 5 years ago after a couple of major falls in her own flat. She has been treated like royalty and cared for dutifully by some lovely people over the years. A nice atmosphere managed with empathy by all involved. Even my gran says she would
be happy to recommend it. Lovely care home.

The care home is always clean. The staff are very polite and friendly. All resident's needs are very well attended to by the staff at all times whenever I attend the home. I have visited during meal times, the food is always excellent, with a varied balanced duet of meats and vegetables and always looks
very appetising.

My aunty had to go into a nursing home for end of life care just before Christmas. After looking at various home, Norlands was the last one on my list. We chose that one and I am so grateful that we did. She had excellent care and so did we emotionally. We can't thank the owner and the manager enough
for the care and respect they gave. It was a loving happy environment for someone to end their days in.

My first experience was no nasty smells only home cooking from the kitchen. The chef comes out to interact with the residents - late breakfasts for some who get up later! Lots of hot drinks. All staff are very friendly, I know them all by name. They are constantly busy either cleaning or tending to
the guests' needs and interacting with them. I visit almost every day and am made to feel very welcome. It's small which makes it a home from home feeling. Care is taken to sit guests next to others they have something in common with. Plenty of staff.

I have a very positive experience of Norlands Nursing Home. I know my mum is looked after very well and I do not need to worry about her safety.
The staff look after the residents as though they were their own family member and I couldn't ask for more than that.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.617)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.617) out of 10 for Norlands Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.917 for Norlands Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Norlands Nursing Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 21 registered maximum number of service users is 4.2, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
