Following a serious illness I completely lost the use of my already limited mobility. I was only able to walk a few steps. Unable to live at home I decided my best option was The Village Nursing Care Home in Murton.
The staff were amazing and encouraged me to walk a few steps each day, slowly but surely
my mobility returned So four months later thanks to to help of these wonderful people I was able to reach my full potential and return home to live independently with carers coming in
During my time at the village care home I was treated with dignity and respect. The meals were delicious
Without exception you are "Simply the best"
Thank you the Village Nursing Care Home

This really is a lovely place full of love and laughter.

We had hoped that Mam would stay permanently but she decided she's rather try to cope at home. It's a real shame as we love the home. Staff are very kind and caring which really lifts some of the worry and gives peace of mind. There was

always something fun going on which we really liked as for us it's important to face life with a smile and a sense of humour.

Catering always looked lovely and everytime we went in someone was going from room to soon sorting out drinks and checking on less mobile residents. Management were very approachable and helpful and there was always access to medical support.

We are so grateful to everyone at the home for being amazing.

Mam was admitted on Jan 14th as a crisis bed. Manager & staff could not have been more welcoming to us and made her feel safe & comfortable from the start. Throughout her stay this continued and I was very satisfied with her treatment whilst she was a resident by all the staff.

The Village Care Home has strong leadership, supported by a good management team.
Visitors receive a warm welcome from staff who are readily available to talk.
There is a great "family" atmosphere with the sound of laughter and talking throughout.
The noticeable awareness of correct guidance and
procedures ensure the safety and wellbeing of all.
Residents are treated with dignity and respect, developing close bonds with dedicated, friendly and hard-working staff.
Overall wellbeing is developed through planned activities, events, outings or more personalised care.
Individual choice of food is from a varied menu.
In January 2024, Mam arrived here both physically and emotionally fragile after the death of her daughter and fall at home.
Thanks to the attention, care and support Mam is now happy and flourishing.
Thank you for all the amazing work you do to keep our loved ones safe and happy.
I enter the Village Care Home with a smile and leave with a warm glow and an even bigger smile!

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.139)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.139) out of 10 for The Village Care Home (Murton) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.789 for The Village Care Home (Murton) is calculated as follows: ( (58 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.789
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.35 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Village Care Home (Murton) is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.75
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
