Situated by the town of Chirk in the Ceiriog Valley, Dolywern is a purpose built, single storey house that can accommodate up to 30 adults with physical disabilities. Not far from Oswestry with its weekly market, cinema and shopping centres, the home is close to Chirk which offers a variety of local amenities including shops, restaurants, pubs, a library and leisure facility.

Dolywern delivers high-quality care and nursing for adults with physical disabilities and complex needs. Regulated by the Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales, the dedicated and experienced team use a person-centred approach to ensure every individual’s needs are understood and met with the greatest privacy, dignity and respect.

Each individual chooses how they are supported, and lead very active lives. With a focus on independence, health, wellbeing and skills building, extensive activity programmes offer something for everyone. As well as staff, a team of committed volunteers support individual and group activities, so all have the chance to be social, get creative or enjoy exercise.

Dolywern enables residents to get the most out of life, supporting individuals to maintain relationships with family and friends, and gain the ability to move on to more independent living when they’re ready.

Since founding in 1948, Leonard Cheshire Disability has supported disabled people in the UK and across the world to fulfil their potential and live the lives they choose. The charity has many homes in the UK which provide thousands of disabled people with high quality housing, care and support.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My daughter was a resident at "The Chesh" for 15 years. She was severely disabled with CP and was also totally deaf, making any communication extremely difficult. From day one every member of staff went the extra mile to give her wonderful care to enable her to have as full a life as possible.
My daughter
rapidly became a fully participating member of the Dolywern family and I was always kept informed by phone to her needs and progress.
(I live 70 miles away) and was always warmly welcomed by staff when I visited, usually 2 times weekly. Sadly in 2015 my daughter developed cancer and was nursed to the very end with total love, devotion and dedication. I cannot speak too highly of this wonderful home. If only every home were like this, the "care world" would be perfect.
