Overall Experience

After my father passed in early 2025 my 90 year old mother struggled enormously, needing transfusions for severe anaemia at one point, then after a fall leading to hospitalisation with a fracture. Fiercely independent she was reluctant to accept option of residential care but gradually accepted she couldn't manage and was won over by warm welcome she received at the Alexandra. She struggles with her memory (not dementia) and thinks she is back in hospital at times, which strangely enough she sees as a positive i.e a safe place. Since moving in last Autumn her health has improved considerably, she is much more mobile and a lot more alert - huge testament to constant care staff team offer on a 24/7 basis. She has settled in incredibly well and most importantly the staff team are extremely sensitive to her independent spirit. If she doesn't want to do something (within bounds) they try and accommodate. No set visiting hours and welcoming staff make it easy to drop in whenever. Homely.

Alexandra takes great care of My Mother , She is very happy , all the staff connect brilliantly with her.
She has Alzheimer's , but the very high standard of care means that She is never distressed.
My Mother has been encouraged and enabled to continue with her creative Artwork which gives her a lot of pleasure and She feels part of a community.
The amazing experienced Staff relate so well with her , and show a lot of kindness every day.

Her quality of life could not be better , and We are so lucky that the Alexandra is her home .

It’s lovely seeing the great work the entire nursing home staff put in to make it a warm and friendly place that makes visiting always a pleasure. Having a walk along the beach next to the home is an added bonus.

I am always made welcome by the manager and her staff who are both Welsh and English speaking. The staff go way above their duty, nothing is too much trouble. If I had to go into a care home that is where I want to go.
