The Management and the team at Brynawelon home are so good brilliant actually they have been looking after my mother and the care is excellent that they give I go from there not having to worry about mum and there all happy and always have time to chat also the activities lady is always happy and singing
which is nice to hear Big well done to the manager and the director on delivering first class care

I find the Bryn Awelon staff caring towards my sister and very polite even towards the family. I feel relieved that she is well looked after by the staff even when I am not around. The staff considers and respects the family's wishes in making sure that my sister looks her best. I am happy with the
care that is provided to my sister. Thankful to the whole team in Bryn Awelon.

I have experienced the staff to be welcoming, friendly and responsive.
The manager of the home is very approachable, friendly and helpful. He is on hand and has personal knowledge of the resident. He is respectful in his communication with me as well as with other members of my family including the
resident (who has been complimentary about him a number of times).
I appreciate the flexibility of being able to visit at different times.
I have not rated the 'activities' as the resident chooses not to participate in communal activities; I appreciate there is no pressure to participate.
The resident has expressed to me that a greater variety of food would be welcomed.
Unfortunately, there has been no hot water in the resident's bathroom for approx. 3 weeks (broken boiler), hence the 3-star rating.
Some other maintenance tasks are neglected e.g. cleaning roof gutters (leaking terribly and very noisy in heavy rain).

My Dad has Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer's. It's been heartbreaking to see his decline but it is reassuring to know that he is being well looked after at Bryn Awelon. The staff have been really supportive to our family to help us cope with Dad's illness and are always there to talk to us about any
concerns we have. He has a lovely spacious room with lots of natural light, which we were able to decorate and make personal to him. The staff are all really friendly and supportive. The food is good and the staff will cater to any needs. Sadly I live too far away to visit frequently but the Manager has really helped to work out ways that I can continue to keep communicating with my Dad. The grounds are beautiful but not very accessible at the moment but this is something that they are working on to improve.

Bryn Awelon has helped my aunt settle into her new surroundings. The staff are super proactive in all that they do and, as such, carry out a difficult job in a magnificent manner. Long may this continue!

The care in this home is great and my mum is treated with love and respect. The rooms vary in size but are homely and clean and you are welcome to decorate in any way that makes the guest feel at home. The laundry is great and Mum is always clean and in her own clothes. The staff are always happy and
welcoming and the manager is easy to chat to when you have any concerns at all. The house and grounds are lovely and there are lots of plans afoot to make these more accessible.

We were initially very nervous about sending my mother to a care home, it was the last thing our family wanted to do and a lot of us really weren't looking forward to her future in nursing care. Although our sentimentality hasn't completely changed on the fact that she receives nursing care, I cannot
express my gratitude enough to the team of Bryn Awelon for welcoming my mother into residency and making her settling in as easy as possible for both her as well as us. The team communicates very well and has been nothing but helpful and receptive to any questions we've had throughout her stay.
There have been a few equipment issues and mistakes in communication, but the team has been very honest and hasn't erred since.
Thanks a lot to the manager and everyone in the nursing team, they're doing a really hard job with little support from our government but are doing excellent regardless.

The staff at Bryn Awelon are all exceptionally friendly and supportive to the resident and their families/visitors. Everywhere is clean and the correct equipment for moving residents is on hand. The bedrooms are spacious, have the correct beds, with many having an en-suite bathroom. The ratio of staff
to residents has increased quite a lot since Medicare took over, with many more residents coming down into the lounge area. I visit for a short time 2/3 times a week and have found that whilst the catering staff know the residents very well and are able to make sure they have meals they enjoy, a choice of menu might encourage them to eat better. I think the care and attention given to everyone is of a very high standard but I do feel that it would be beneficial to have someone there whose role is not the medical care of the residents, but to have more of an activity role. Someone who can chat to them, play a game with them, engage them in some activity to help stimulate them.

My mother-in-law is being well looked after by the staff in Bryn Awelon Nursing Home in Criccieth. She first moved to Bryn Awelon Nursing Home in June of last year. I have attended 2 in-depth reviews since that time and was informed of every detail of her care which was very comprehensive. The staff
are always very welcoming when I arrive to visit her. She looks well cared for, clean and tidy and so is her bedroom. She always recognises me and enjoys a chat, though her memory now is vague. Her hearing is also getting worse. When I visited last week she was in quite a lot of pain in her side and shoulder. I feel she needs a stronger painkiller and I mentioned this to the Clinical Lead who assured me that she would request a doctor to visit. Overall, however, I am satisfied with her care.

The staff are always professional and courteous. But it is their care and compassion which stands out most. Nothing is ever too much trouble in what is a very difficult job. Mum has been there for over two years, and I always feel part of a big and loving family when I visit. The food is good, and
the catering staff are aware of the resident's needs in relation to the difficulty of swallowing etc and make the meals accordingly. Although it would be nice if there was a choice of menu for each meal. There is a large and airy lounge which is now well used by residents. However, there are now no activities carried out, which I feel is vital. The residents need something to be engaged in other than watching the television. The carers are always busy looking after residents' personal needs and do not have the time to engage in longer conversations, play games, do crafts etc. Hopefully, this will be something that consideration can be given to.

Staff members always courteous, attentive and caring, treating Mum as an individual and not just another patient, first rate. Bedrooms are a good standard, very comfortable. Mother has been at Bryn Awelon for the last six months and has settled in by now after a difficult start.

My mum has received the best of care at the time in her life and stage of her dementia when she needs it the most. The team are fantastic in their care of Mum but also supporting me in the most horrendous journey through dementia. One member of staff, particularly, has been one of the stand-out team
members who has been truly fantastic in guiding, supporting and communicating with me throughout Mum's stay over the last three years. I always feel warmly welcomed and nothing has been too much trouble. Thank you Bryn Awelon and team!

Mum moved into Bryn Awelon mid September 2023, my sister and I visited for the first time 10 days later. Mum looked happy, settled and well cared for! The moment we stepped into the home we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble and the staff were happy to answer our questions
and take time to listen. Every member of staff from housekeeping, catering, carers and nursing were outstanding, and engaged with Mum too when we were chatting to them.
As most of Mum's family, apart from her husband who lives locally, are a minimum of a 4-hour drive away and our brother lives in the USA, we were put at ease and knew straight away we had made the right decision by placing Mum in Bryn Awelon.
