My mum has been a resident for just under 2 years. I have been so very grateful to all the staff for their superb care and kindness shown not only to Mum but to our entire family. They go out of their way to make us welcome.
I feel the homely atmosphere and excellent care has meant that we have been
given more quality time with Mum as when she was in hospital she was deteriorating rapidly. Mum will be 92 in June and not in the best of health but still has quality of life due to the warmth comfort and care provided by all the staff in West Park.
Reply from Jan Ritchie, Manager at West ParkThankyou for taking the time to write a review, we are so glad that you feel welcome when you visit, and we appreciate the trust that you have in us to care for your mum.

My mum has been in Westpark for over a year now due to mobility problems. I can't rate them high enough. Every staff member is amazing. I'm often on the phone to my mum and the staff all speak to me, including the manager. My brother travels from Aberdeen every Saturday, it's just like one big family.

My relative receives excellent care. She is now very dependent - I feel that she is in a safe place and is looked after with compassion and skill. The staff all know her very well, they do an amazing job and are all heroes in our eyes.

My dad was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease and after a hospital stay was ready to leave and move to a home that ensured the best care.
As a nurse in a nursing home, I was so dedicated to finding the care I was used to giving in my care home.
The whole team were so involved from day one and introduced
themselves to Dad, from maintenance making sure his family pictures were in the right place, to cooks and cleaners (apologies, I appreciate that I'm not using the right terminology) care staff and nurses. Dad had difficulty communicating but they all took so much time to speak with him and so quickly involved him in the West Park family.
As his daughters we were given so much support and myself and my sister also felt included in their family.
I will always be truly grateful for everyone who made Dad's transition into the West Park family such a caring loving time for our dad.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Unfortunately my sisters stay in West Park was quite short. Only 6 months. During this time it was a great pleasure visiting her. It was like walking into a family home. All the staff from the cleaners, chef to the manager and owner treated us like part of the family. All the staff said how much they
loved going to work because it was like family, and it truly showed in their care and attention to the residents and families.
During my sisters last few weeks the care she received, and in fact the care we also as family received, was above and beyond anything we could have asked for. It certainly helped us through the trauma of losing our loved one. We can never thank everyone enough for how we were treated.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.460)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.460) out of 10 for West Park is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.939 for West Park is calculated as follows: ( (77 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.939
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.521 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for West Park is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.6 = 0.921
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
