Inchmarlo House Care Home – Where Care Comes Naturally

Established in 1986, Inchmarlo Retirement Village was the first continuing care retirement village in Scotland. Located within a 100-acre garden paradise near Banchory on Royal Deeside in Aberdeenshire, Inchmarlo House Care Home is a magnificent listed Georgian mansion, which boasts impressive views across the estate and over the River Dee.

The care home provides the ideal solution for those who require additional support outwith their own home.

Inchmarlo House has both single and double bedrooms available, all with en suite facilities. The full care package includes help with washing, dressing and eating if and when required, but temporary care is available for those in need of respite, and daycare packages are available for those who need that extra bit of help during the day.

Inchmarlo House has a variety of facilities and services, including a hairdresser, lounges and a bar and restaurant, where residents can meet family and friends and enjoy Michelin star-inspired dishes.

The estate and gardens offer countless walks and are home for red squirrels, deer and all kinds of birds. It’s perhaps, therefore, no surprise that Inchmarlo was named one of the best places to live in retirement by The Sunday Times in 2018.

For those who want to enjoy the benefits of living at Inchmarlo but would prefer a more independent lifestyle, there is a selection of houses and apartments for sale within the nine distinct neighbourhoods, where gracious living also comes naturally.

Homes range from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom houses, all carefully designed for retirement living. However, if needs change, homeowners are entitled to priority entry at the care home.

Julie

Julie MacKenzie

Job Title: Director & General manager Joined: 2003

My name is Julie Mackenzie, and I’ve been part of this company since 2003. I first joined as a Deputy Manager — a role that I loved as it gave me the opportunity to develop my management skills while still being closely involved in what I’ve always been most passionate about: caring for our residents.

In 2013, I became the General Manager, and two years later, in 2015, I was proud to step into the role of Director.

Throughout the years, my focus has always been on developing and improving our service — making sure we continue to deliver the very best standards of care. I truly believe that when we care deeply about what we do, it shows in the environment we create, in the standards we uphold, and most importantly, in the happiness of our residents.

What makes this place so special is the amazing team we have. The staff are dedicated, supportive, and work together with one shared goal: to make our residents feel valued, comfortable, and truly at home.

I’m incredibly proud to be part of this journey and to continue building a service where high standards, compassion, and happy residents remain at the heart of everything we do.

Welcome to Inchmarlo.
