1. We visited my aunt Mrs R her bedroom lock on the door was broken, and hanging at an angle on her bedroom door.

2. She has her own wheelchair, when we have visited in the past, some other patient was using it. The staff returned it too us, but it was very dirty.

Reply from Shirley Curle, Care Home Manager at Georgia Park Care Home

I have spoken to our maintenance man about the lock on the door. Your aunt cannot use the lock but this should have been fixed for aesthetic purposes. I will speak to the staff about ensuring your aunt's wheelchair remains vacant for her use only and that if noticed to be dirty this should be...

I feel that the Lomand unit is a pleasant environment for the residents. The staff seem to do a good job and are very approachable. The residents are well fed with a choice of meals. The entertainment seems to be very good and both the residents and staff mix very well when they take place.

Our father moved into Georgia Park around 6 months ago. As a family we chose Georgia Park due to word of mouth, past experience with another close family member and proximity. Naturally, it took a while for dad to adjust to his new home however he is now fully settled which gives us all comfort and peace of mind. The staff, some of which have been with Georgia Park for years are all very friendly and accommodating. Although dad prefers his own company a lot of the time he is actively encouraged to participate in activities and entertainment available. He thoroughly enjoys the food and has gained some much needed weight. There is good communication from the management on relevant information and any issues that have arisen have been quickly rectified. Overall, we are very pleased with the level of care our father receives. The only negative aspect would be that some of the corridors, particularly the flooring is in need of a refresh.

Reply from Shirley Curle, Care Home Manager at Georgia Park Care Home

Thank you so much. We are pleased that your dad has settled well into the environment. I will take on board your comment about the corridors and flooring and pass to the appropriate department.

I can’t praise the management and staff of Georgia Park enough. My mother not only is extremely well cared for but has fun every day. From the amazing entertainment to the fun activities. The care home is so dementia friendly and the team is very well trained. As a family, we are confident Mum is in the best of care.

My mum, who suffers from dementia, has been a resident for just over four years. I appreciate all the care she receives. To be honest, I panic when staff move on, however, no need to as new staff seem to get to know her very quickly. There is a lot going on at the moment with new activities, decorating etc and now that we are getting back to the old days I am looking forward to seeing it all. The manager and staff do a grand job and are very much appreciated.

Reviewing the home and went for a visit around Georgia Park the place was lovely and the staff were friendly. My dad has been in the care home coming up for 5 weeks. He settled in well after a few weeks, staff are pleasant. Seeing Dad settled now he has his cheeky smile back.

My Dad has settled really well and enjoys his life in Georgia Park Care Home. There are lots of activities for him to take part in and he really likes the staff who look after him. He needs more personal care now than he did when he arrived and the fact that he has accepted this without a problem is a testament to the kindness and sensitivity of the care staff. Over the 6-months there have been lots of stimulating things added which all work together to help him have a fulfilling life despite his dementia.

Some great activities planned and engagement with the residents. The Facebook page has been a brilliant addition in these difficult times, with the pandemic limiting access - really good to be able to see my aunt getting involved and enjoying the varied events and activities. Thanks to the lovely staff for their support and interest in those they care for. It makes such a difference.

Mum is very well looked after. She was expertly supported during a challenging life transition and during the most difficult of times in the care sector due to coronavirus. I have huge appreciation and admiration that a high level of care and attention has been maintained during lockdowns, restrictions etc. The staff very quickly got to know mum and understand her needs, and she has developed great relationships with many. Mum is settled in Georgia Park and trusts the staff to look after her.
The re-vamped activities programme is welcome and the therapists add further stimulation. The food has taken a dip recently and the management has listened to our feedback on that. It is appreciated that mum has the forum to give her own feedback at the residents' meetings. Care home staff communicate well with our family.

Thank you!

My father is in his nineties and sadly suffers from dementia. He struggled to settle down in Georgia Park at first but is now very settled. This change has come about because of the excellent staff. As a family, we had a negative experience in another care home with our mother. But Georgia Park has been ideal for our father. The new manager is introducing new initiatives to keep the residents occupied and to stimulate their minds. This is very welcome. Overall I am very pleased with Georgia Park and the care provided to my loved one.

Overall Experience

My mother has been a resident of Georgia Park for over 3 1/2 years. She is in her 90's and has vascular dementia. When she moved into the home it was rated as adequate after a period of instability and change of ownership. The home is now rated as very good (rated 5) by care inspectors. It is modern and purpose-built and is always very clean, tidy, and has no smells of urine! It has been recently refurbished, particularly in the public areas. Georgia Park is the home it is because of its staff. They are a very caring group of people who have been led by a first-class manager for the last few years. Many of them have worked there for years and so really get to know their residents. They have been substitute families to the residents during this epidemic. Outings and activities are encouraged, funded by the home (there is an entertainments officer) and by the Families Committee fundraising. During Covid, there have been Zoom sessions held by the manager to keep families informed.

My mother in law has received excellent care and support in her time at Georgia Park Care Home. Staff and management are very approachable and during the recent Covid situation have safely managed the care of my mother in law.
I would highly recommend Georgia Park as a high-quality care establishment.

The care home is part of a family run business and staff turnover is not as high as other similar establishments I am aware of. This helps with the care of people with dementia.
