William Wilberforce is backed by over four decades of experience drawn from the NHS and the care home sector.
The building was shaped with her father, who brought a lifetime's knowledge of care to every detail of it, and Meg has run it since it opened in 2013. Sixty-four en-suite rooms, set in two and a half acres on the edge of Pocklington, overlooking the gliding club, with a restaurant, a bistro, a hair salon, a cinema room, and a garden for residents to enjoy.
Outside of work, Meg holds a Master's in Nutrition and has a long-standing interest in functional medicine and brain health.
Alex has been part of the William Wilberforce family since 2014, and in that time has grown into her role as Registered Manager - the person the CQC holds responsible for ensuring the home meets their standards.
She has a degree in International Relations and European Studies, which might seem an unlikely background for a care home manager, but the skills translate more than you'd think - listening carefully, understanding what people need, and making sure the right things happen for the right people.
What she enjoys most is the small stuff. A smile, knowing that someone feels secure because of the care around them. She works closely with the whole team to make sure that feeling runs through everything we do - for residents and staff alike.
Outside of work, she loves cooking, and that spills into the home whenever there's an occasion for it - the summer party, BBQs, Christmas, bonfire night, charity events. Alex uses every excuse to put on a proper spread for residents, families, and the team.
Malcolm is usually the first person you'll speak to when you get in touch with us. He handles all enquiries, arranges visits, and guides families through the process of finding out whether the William Wilberforce is the right place for their loved one - without any pressure.
Once a resident has moved in, Malcolm doesn't disappear. He stays on as a point of contact for residents and families for anything outside of care - a kind of concierge for the non-clinical side of life at the home.
He also has a sideline in local history, with work published in magazines and periodicals over the years - so if you want to know more about Pocklington, he's your man.
