During one visit I found my dad unresponsive and had to request 999 myself.
I raised issues with management on more than one occasion but unfortunately saw little meaningful improvement.
Since moving my father to another care setting, I have noticed a significant improvement in his overall wellbeing and appearance. This has reinforced my concerns about the level of care at Bowbrook.
It is heartbreaking to feel your loved one may not have been cared for safely or with the dignity they deserve. I would urge others to thoroughly research and ask detailed questions before considering placement here.

Hi, I’m Lucie Goodall, a Registered Care Home Manager with more than 16 years of experience in the care sector. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting many individuals and families, and my journey has shaped me into a passionate advocate for high-quality, person-centred care.
Dementia care is where my heart lies. I believe that every person living with dementia deserves to feel respected, understood, and valued for who they are. For me, good care isn’t just about routines and processes—it’s about really listening, connecting, and creating moments that matter. I love learning about each resident’s life story and making sure their care reflects their individuality.
I’m a hands-on, approachable leader, and I work hard to build teams that share the same compassion and dedication. Supporting staff to grow and feel confident in their roles is something I find incredibly rewarding. When a team feels valued and supported, the quality of care naturally flourishes.
I’m always looking for new ways to improve the well-being and day-to-day experience of the people we care for, whether that’s through meaningful activities, improved communication, or fostering a homely, inclusive environment. Seeing residents smile, connect, or feel a sense of comfort is what keeps me motivated and inspired.
Above all, I’m committed to making sure that everyone in our care—residents, families, and staff—feels welcomed, understood, and supported. Caring isn’t just my job; it’s my passion, and I’m proud of the difference I aim to make each day.
My name is Zoe Taylor, and for as long as I can remember, caring for others has been at the heart of who I am. As a mum to two wonderful children, I learned early on how powerful patience, understanding, and kindness can be—and those lessons have shaped not only my home life but my entire career.
For the past 14 years, I have dedicated myself to working in care, a journey that has taught me just as much about humanity as it has about responsibility. Over time, I found my true passion in dementia care. There is something deeply meaningful about supporting someone through a stage of life where they need both reassurance and dignity. Every person living with dementia has a story, a lifetime of experiences worth honouring, and it has always been important to me to help preserve that sense of identity.
Working at Bowbrook Care Home has given me the opportunity to bring that passion to life. My goal has always been simple but heartfelt: to make everyone feel at home—comfortable, safe, and genuinely happy. Whether it’s offering a warm smile, sharing a familiar song, or just being present during a difficult moment, I believe the little things can make the biggest difference.
My journey in care has shaped me in ways I never expected. It has strengthened my compassion, deepened my patience, and reminded me daily of the importance of connection. I continue to grow, both as a mother and as a caregiver, and I feel grateful for the people who have trusted me to be part of their lives.
This work is more than a job to me—it is a calling, one that I carry with pride and a full heart.
My name is Sallyann Anderson, and throughout my life I’ve always found joy in caring for others—often through something as simple and heartfelt as a good meal. As a mother to two wonderful children and a proud grandmother to one beautiful grandchild, family has shaped my values, my work, and the way I see the world. Kindness, comfort, and choice have always mattered to me, and those beliefs guide everything I do.
I work as a Catering Supervisor at Bowbrook Care Home, a place where I’ve dedicated my working life and built strong, meaningful relationships with both staff and residents. Bowbrook isn’t just where I work—it’s a community I’m proud to be part of. Every day, I see how a warm meal, a favourite dish, or a familiar smell can spark memories, bring joy, and create connection.
My passion for dementia care is deeply tied to this. Food can be a powerful source of comfort, especially for those living with dementia. A favourite recipe or a familiar taste can bring someone back to themselves, even if only for a moment. I love being able to create those moments—little sparks of recognition, smiles across the table, or the simple pleasure of choice. Everyone deserves the right to choose what they enjoy, and I believe strongly in supporting that sense of independence.
Making people smile through food is not just my job—it’s something I truly care about. Whether it’s adapting meals so they’re easier to eat, introducing new dishes to brighten someone’s day, or taking the time to understand each person’s likes and dislikes, I aim to make a difference with every plate I serve.
Reflecting on my journey, I feel grateful to work in a place where I can bring comfort, joy, and dignity to others. I believe that even the smallest acts of care matter, and I try each day to help others feel valued, supported, and at home.
I’m Deb, and I’ve been a Senior Care Assistant at Bowbrook since the very first day it opened. This place has grown with me, and I’ve grown with it. Being here from the beginning means I’ve watched Bowbrook become a home — not just for our residents, but for all of us who care for them. It’s a part of my life I hold close to my heart.
Caring is who I am. I’m compassionate, honest, and I’ll always speak up for what’s right. The residents’ well-being is at the centre of everything I do, and I’m proud to be someone who will always fight for them, protect them, and make sure they feel safe and loved. They’re not just people I care for — they’re people I care about.
I’m a mum and a grandmother, roles that have shaped me into the person I am today. At home, my two dogs keep me busy and bring so much joy. And when I need a moment of peace, you’ll find me on my canal barge boat — my little escape where I can breathe, reflect, and recharge.
One of my proudest moments was helping to secure fundraising for Bowbrook and raising an incredible £3,000. Knowing that the effort went straight back into making life better for our residents is something I’ll always treasure.
I’m Darlington, and I’ve been a Care Assistant at Bowbrook for almost two years. In that time, this place has become so much more than a workplace to me — it feels like somewhere I truly belong. Every day reminds me why I chose care in the first place. The residents, their stories, their smiles, and even their quiet moments have become a part of my life in a way I never expected.
Listening to the residents talk about their lives is something I treasure. Their memories, their wisdom, and the journeys they’ve lived through mean a lot to me. Supporting them with their preferences and giving person-centred care isn’t just a responsibility — it’s something I feel deeply. I want every resident to feel respected, valued, and understood, because respect is a huge part of who I am and how I see the world.
I’m always ready to share a dance if a resident wants to get up and move. Those moments of joy, laughter, and connection stay with me long after my shift ends. Outside of work, I enjoy football and spending time doing the things that keep me grounded, but Bowbrook is never far from my thoughts.
My name is June Haigh, and caring for others has always been at the heart of who I am. As a mother to a wonderful daughter—who I’m proud to say also works here at Bowbrook—I’ve learned the importance of kindness, patience, and understanding. Those same qualities guide me every day in my work and in the way I connect with the people around me.
I work as a Senior Care Assistant at Bowbrook Care Home, a place that has become like a second family to me. My working life here has been filled with moments that remind me why I chose this path—moments of laughter, connection, and simple joy shared with our residents. I especially love seeing their smiles, whether it’s through a warm conversation, a small act of kindness, or just being there when they need someone.
I have a deep passion for dementia care. Supporting someone living with dementia takes patience, empathy, and genuine understanding, and it’s a role I feel truly honoured to fulfil. Every person has a story, and I always try to meet them where they are, offering comfort, reassurance, and dignity.
No matter the task—big or small—I’m always ready to step in and help. Whether it’s providing hands-on care, offering support during a difficult moment, or simply brightening someone’s day, I believe in giving my all to the people who rely on us.
Working at Bowbrook has given me the chance to make a real difference, and I feel grateful every day to be part of such a caring, dedicated team. Most of all, I’m thankful for the smiles, the stories, and the trust shared with me by the residents who make Bowbrook feel like home.
My name is Mandy Rendall, and caring for others has always been at the heart of who I am. As a mother and grandmother, I know the importance of love, patience, and kindness, qualities I bring to every part of my life and work.
I work as a Care Assistant at Bowbrook Care Home, where I think of the residents as family. My passion for dementia care shines through in the small, meaningful moments, sharing a smile, listening to a story, or simply being there when someone needs comfort. I love supporting not only the residents but also their families, helping them feel reassured and cared for.
I’m always ready to learn, lend a hand, and support my colleagues, bringing energy and heart to everything I do. Working at Bowbrook is a joy, and I feel truly lucky to be part of a team that shares my love for making residents feel happy, safe, and at home.
For me, Bowbrook isn’t just a workplace, it’s a family, and every day I’m grateful to be part of it.
I’m Alberta, and caring for others has always come naturally to me. Kindness, compassion, and understanding are at the heart of who I am, and working at Bowbrook has given me the perfect place to share that. I’ve made so many wonderful friends here — both colleagues and residents — and Bowbrook truly feels like a community I’m proud to be part of.
One of my favourite things about working here is getting to know the families and friends of our residents. Building those connections means a lot to me, and it helps create the warm, welcoming atmosphere Bowbrook is known for.
I’m always the first to get involved in activities, especially anything that brings joy and laughter to the residents. If there’s music playing, you can guarantee I’ll be encouraging everyone to get up, have a dance, and enjoy the moment. Music is a big love of mine, and seeing how it lifts the spirits of our residents is one of the best parts of my day.
My name is Carole, and I’ve been part of the Bowbrook Care Home family for the past four years. Caring for people has always come naturally to me, and I feel truly privileged to support our residents and help make each day a little brighter for them.
Outside of work, life is wonderfully busy. I have two daughters who mean the world to me, and at home I’m also kept on my toes by my six cats. Music has always been a big part of my life — I’m a piano player and previously taught lessons, something that still brings me a lot of joy. When I’m relaxing, you’ll usually find me enjoying a good jigsaw puzzle or unwinding with a glass of wine.
Bowbrook is a special place, and I’m proud to be part of a team that values kindness, compassion, and connection. I look forward to continuing to make a positive difference every day.
I’m Ebi, and I’ve been a Care Assistant at Bowbrook for over three years. In that time, this place has become a second home to me. Caring for people is something that comes from the heart, and dementia care, especially, is very close to mine. Every resident has their own story, their own personality, and their own way of seeing the world — and getting to know them on such a personal level is something I treasure every day.
I believe deeply in offering choice, respecting dignity, and supporting people in the way that feels right for them. Whether it’s helping with care, listening to someone’s worries, or simply being there when they need a friendly face, I’m always ready to help anyone who needs it. Kindness is something I try to bring into every moment.
I’ve made so many friends at Bowbrook — colleagues and residents alike. I’m known for being friends with everyone, and I love the sense of family we’ve built here. I also enjoy braiding hair, which has become a lovely way to connect with residents and bring a little joy into their day.
I’m Ellie, and Bowbrook has become a place that means so much to me. Working here has given me lifelong friends, people who have supported me, laughed with me, and made every shift feel that little bit brighter. Being part of this team has helped shape who I am, especially as I work towards my dream of becoming a nurse at university.
Travel is one of my biggest joys in life. I love exploring Europe whenever I can, and Florida will always have a special place in my heart. One day, I hope to travel the world and see as much of it as possible — new places, new people, new memories. And of course, nothing beats a big bowl of spaghetti bolognese after a long day.
Bowbrook has been more than just a workplace for me. It’s been a place of growth, friendship, and moments I’ll always carry with me. I’m grateful for every experience and excited for everything still to come.
My name is Amy Mellor, and throughout my life, I’ve found real purpose in caring for others. Raising my two children has taught me kindness, resilience, and honesty, and these lessons have become the foundation of the way I approach my work and the people I support.
I work as a Senior Care Assistant at Bowbrook Care Home, a place that has become a big part of my life and my heart. Over my working years at Bowbrook, I’ve grown to understand just how powerful genuine care can be. I’m someone who is upfront, honest, and never afraid to get stuck in, no matter how big or small the task might be. Whether it’s offering reassurance, providing hands-on support, or stepping in during an emergency, I always give my full self to the people I care for.
My passion lies especially in dementia care. Supporting someone living with dementia requires understanding, patience, and a deep sense of empathy. I take pride in bringing comfort, calm, and dignity to moments that can feel confusing or overwhelming for residents. A warm smile, a familiar voice, or a gentle touch can mean everything—and I try to be that steady, compassionate presence whenever I’m needed.
Working at Bowbrook has allowed me to build strong, meaningful relationships with residents, families, and the staff team. We support each other, we grow together, and we share a commitment to making each day better for the people who call Bowbrook home.
Looking back, I feel proud of the work I do and the difference I make. And looking forward, I remain dedicated to providing honest, heartfelt care—always ready to help, to support, and to stand beside those who need me most.
