Mum moved into Marigold House in April this year, but sadly passed away Sunday 10th August at Marigold House. The care she received throughout her stay was great and the facilities are excellent, but the kindness, compassion and care that was given to mum and offered to every member of her family in
the last few weeks of her life was more than words can describe and will always be eternally grateful to all the staff for everything they have done for mum whilst she was in their care.

Overall, we are happy with Marigold's care and support. Care staff are all very kind and do their best for mum, even though she stays in her room most of the time. Do not see much of managerial staff, but I imagine they are around if we have any problems.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.847)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.847) out of 10 for Marigold House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.771 for Marigold House is calculated as follows: ( (56 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.771
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.076 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Marigold House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 63 registered maximum number of service users is 12.6. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.6 = 0.476
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

A Message from Alice:

I’ve been working in care since I was 18, but my passion for looking after others started long before that—helping care for my elderly grandparents. That experience really opened my eyes to how important kindness, patience, and dignity are when supporting people in later life.

Over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of care roles and developed a strong interest in dementia care. I love getting to know each resident as an individual and making sure they feel safe, understood, and valued.

As Deputy Manager here at Marigold House, I support both the team and our residents to make sure we’re providing the best care possible. I’m always happy to chat with families, answer questions, and help make everyone feel at home. Caring for others is something I’ve always been drawn to, and I feel proud every day to be part of such a rewarding and important job.

Job Title: Care Assistant Joined: 2025

Hi, my name is Victoria.
I am a Care Assistant here at Marigold House. I have been part of the Marigold team since January 2025. I started working in care during COVID, and even though these were stressful times for all, I was grateful to be there to look after vulnerable people and put smiles on their faces during these difficult times. I then moved on to work in the Prison Service; however, I found that I thoroughly missed caring for the elderly. I decided to go back into care and I certainly don’t regret my decision. Marigold House is completely different to any other home I have worked in. From walking in at the start of my shift to walking out at the end, I feel happy and valued. The staff go above and beyond for the residents, which is just so lovely to see. I am beyond grateful to be part of the Marigold family.
