Dementia Care Types Mild Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "mild dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Memory problems such as misplacing items and not be able to recall recent events (however, in some forms of dementia a person's memory may be unchanged)
- Difficulties thinking through problems and planning, making decisions
- Language and communication issues such as finding it difficult to recall the appropriate word in a conversation or following a conversation
- Poor orientation, getting lost in areas previously familiar to them
- Difficulty judging distances (more falls than usual)
- Changes in their normal mood including anxiety and depression

- More frequent confusion, e.g. about the time of day or where they are, including their own home
- Apathy, depression and anxiety
- Believing things that aren't true (paranoia)
- Frequent hallucinations
- Lack of emotional control, quick to anger, fearfulness, sadness
- Loss of inhibition
- Difficulties sleeping or waking during the night and behaving as though it is daytime - loss of circadian rhythm.
Advanced Dementia
Someone living with our definition of "severe dementia" might experience some or all of the following:
- Severe memory problems. Not recognising family members and friends. Not being able to recall their own name
- Severe language and communication issues, not being able to understand what someone else is saying

Meet the Team (1)
The Manager of Your Care Matters Group Ltd is a Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) specialist with extensive experience in health and social care, including the management of care homes supporting adults with complex and additional needs.
With over 20 years’ experience working in social care, they bring a deep and practical understanding of supporting individuals with dementia, physical disabilities, mental health conditions, learning disabilities, autism and sensory impairments. This long-standing experience has shaped a strong commitment to person-centred care, safeguarding and creating safe, stable environments where individuals can thrive.
Alongside extensive frontline care experience, they have significant experience in managing care services, with responsibility for day-to-day operations, staff leadership, compliance and quality assurance. Their leadership approach is grounded in consistency, accountability and compassion, with a strong focus on maintaining high standards of care and achieving positive outcomes for residents.
They are particularly passionate about supporting individuals with SEND, ensuring that care is tailored to each person’s communication needs, preferences and level of support. Their approach promotes dignity, independence and meaningful engagement, while also supporting positive risk-taking where appropriate.
The Manager works closely with families, commissioners and professionals to ensure open communication and collaborative care planning. They believe that strong partnerships are essential to delivering consistent, high-quality care and improving outcomes for each individual.
Above all, they are dedicated to providing a safe, homely and person-centred environment where every resident is respected, supported and enabled to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.
