Eagle Wood Neurological Care Centre comprises of four neurological care units. Each unit provides a distinct care model catering for different aspects of neurological nursing needs; including long term neurological conditions, neuro-rehabilitation, frontal temporal dementias and complex care.

The units are built around a central hub of facilities including a hydrotherapy pool, skills kitchen, coffee bar, sensory gardens, therapy room and a gym.

A highly skilled multi-disciplinary team work with residents and their families, the NHS and neuro specialists to create and continually review personalised care programmes and care prescriptions based on the individual’s changing needs. This coupled with award winning facilities and specialist trained staff means carers are able to give the highest level of care.

All spacious bedrooms are en-suite and carers encourage residents to personalise them to their own taste. Bedrooms are situated around large bright social spaces.

PJ Care also has dedicated and highly motivated activity teams which provide residents with a variety of therapeutic activities reflecting their personal hobbies and interests.

Where possible residents are encouraged to access the facilities within the local community using public transport or the home's own vehicles.

Eagle Wood's activities centre also allows residents the chance to get out and about and enjoy a range of sensory, relaxing and stimulating activities.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.576 for PJ Care Eagle Wood Neurological Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (23 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 33 Ratings = 4.576

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 3.345 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for PJ Care Eagle Wood Neurological Care Centre is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 = 3.25

    2. Target of 21 positive Reviews (105 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 21 Target = 0.095

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My husband has been a resident at PJ Care for over two years now. He is being really well cared for and the staff are so patient with him. Sometimes he can be aggressive - usually during 'Personal care' but they always manage to calm him down - not easy. I feel so lucky that he is so well looked after when I could no longer cope with his dementia at home. The staff on Cedar Unit all deserve medals. I can't praise them highly enough.

My father requires frequent check-ins from the nursing staff, which they absolutely surpassed expectations with. Staff were considerate, sensitive and had time to spend talking with us as well as maintaining his care level. Very kind people. Clear communication, attentive. Large facility, with great history and very modern, clean and light. I didn't see everywhere but what I did see I was very happy with.
