My dad moved to amber wood in march; after some months of us struggling at home , trying to meet his needs. Oh how I wish we had made the move sooner!

He loves his new home is very settled and the staff are fantastic. The activity coordinator is excellent and whether just one to ones with him or singalongs etc with everyone else, she ensures he is enjoying himself.

Mum moved to amberwood in March 2026. Since then she has settled in well and was made to feel welcome from day 1. The staff are friendly and approachable. Nothing is too much trouble. There are lots of activities to do for the residents and there is always a cheerful atmosphere. Amberwood has beautiful rooms with en suite. You can tell the staff really care about everyone. Great communication with family members too. I can rest easy knowing mum is getting excellent care. Thankyou to all of you at Amberwood care, Burton.

Mum has been at Amberwood since March.
She went in completely bed ridden not being able to walk since early November.
The following day I walked in to see that Mum wasn't in bed so I went looking for her. Well I broke into tears of happiness as mum sat in an arm chair in the lounge.
Still not able to walk and has her wheelchair She has adjusted well. She now joins in with activities. No longer alone in her bedroom anymore.
The Staff are lovely.
If we have any concerns we just go to see Stacie the Manager or Paula the Deputy.
They have arranged various appointments and working out a care plan that suits mums needs.
Amberwood has given myself a chance to become a daughter again and enjoy my visits always taking a cake to share with her and a cup of tea and Chat.

Thank you.

When I first contacted Paula at Amber Wood, she was so very helpful, kind and understanding. She arranged for my mum to be moved from our home to their care within 2 days and mum settled really well. The staff were wonderful with mum and we were very happy with the care she received. We would highly recommend Amber Wood.

The staff are fantastic. My Mother in law is really happy, and enjoys all the activities that they offer. My Father in law is in the same home, and they really look after him as well, keeping us updated on his needs. A special mention for Deanne with the planning of all the activities, also the Manager is always available to speak to, and the rest of the staff will always help, and what ever we have requested they have managed to provide. I feel that my Mother and Father in law are safe, well looked after in every way.

My dad stayed for respite care for one week. Paula assessed his needs and there was great communication throughout. Any questions were answered quickly. His room was clean and bright. The staff we met were friendly and helpful. We were all very happy with his care ( including my dad) and he will be staying again for another week of respite care next week. Thank you for your great care

5 years of mum being at Amber Wood, so we have seen some changes. Presently, all is going in the right direction with changes, all in the interest of the residents. Care is tailor-made to the individual. Cleanliness is great throughout the whole home, as well as in individual rooms. The activities are always amazing, which is great for the families to see. Grateful for the management, seniors, especially Natalie and Suzie, as well as mum's carers, who know her really well. Thank you.

My partner arrived at Amber Wood one month ago, and right from the start, all of the staff were friendly and approachable. I visit him daily and have seen how good the staff are with not only with him but with all of the residents. I think we all worry about how well the staff treat our loved ones, and having seen for myself daily for a month now, not once have I had any concerns. In my opinion, it is clean, professional and very well run whilst still maintaining a relaxed atmosphere.

As a qualified nurse, I always worried about my mum going into care but from the day my mum went to Amber Wood Care Home to the day he passed away, we, as a family, had nothing to worry about. The staff on Bertley and the management team treat Mum as an individual with care and love throughout her stay. I can't thank them enough, their care and dedication were exceptional. I would recommend Amber Wood to any family who are in the same position as we were.

Much more enjoyable now that relatives can come into Amber Wood and visit residents in their day-to-day accommodation. The Covid situation, although understandable, has been hard for relatives. My husband's birthday was a happy occasion. Not sure how much he remembers now about a Birthday, but it was lovely for him, and thank you to the staff for making it a special day.

When I could see my Uncle after a long time and actually visit the home and meet the staff, I was very pleased and satisfied that my uncle was receiving a really good level of care. The staff were accommodating and went out of their way to make the visit a great experience. My Uncle was relaxed and happy that the visit could go ahead as it was a little later than planned. We had our visit in the lovely garden to the back of the home (Covid restrictions) which I found much nicer than a room. The staff provided a good quality of care to all the residents that I had sight of and good communication skills witnessed on my visit. The home was very clean with a nice aroma. Good personal facilities for visitors and most of all a good welcome. Good atmosphere, bright, good facilities to enable the residents to look back and remember (reminiscing).

Overall Experience

My mum arrived at Amber Wood following hospitalization because she had fallen and broken her hip. Prior to this, she had been living semi-independently (with the help of family and carers) in her own home. Unfortunately, it was one fall too many and following the hip repair the very difficult decision was made to have her assessed for residential care; hence her arrival at Amber Wood. On arrival, my worries were dissolved. We were greeted by two exceptionally nice carers who very compassionately settled Mum in. Within an hour of arrival, she was sitting in the dining area eating lunch with other residents. Mum's room is lovely and spacious and she is already forming friendships with both staff and fellow guests. The care and warmth of the staff is second to none. There is an open visiting policy and nothing is too much trouble. The carers quickly relate well not only to the residents but also importantly to the relatives. Thank you so much to all at Amber Wood.

I would highly recommend this care home, the staff go above and beyond to make their residents feel warm, safe and well looked after. This was to the extent that neither of my parents wanted to return home after the respite. It was my Mother's Birthday during their stay here, she was made to feel very special, Birthday posters were displayed around the home and all staff had bought her a cake and flowers.

Rooms are large and airy with beautiful views and en-suits. The gardens were large and accessible, with fruit and vegetables that residents could pick and eat.
