Bridge House

12 Elmwood Close, Huddersfield HD1 5DB
  • Bridge House, Huddersfield
Bridge House is a transitional home supporting young women aged 18–30 with a learning disability and autism. It is designed as a stepping stone into more independent accommodation, helping young adults prepare for a smooth transition into their next stage of life. Whilst each young person progresses at their own pace a typical placement at Bridge House is around 3-5 years.

Life at Bridge House focuses on building independence through everyday living. Young adults are supported to develop practical skills such as managing a home, creating routines, budgeting, cooking and building positive relationships, while living alongside peers of a similar age in a supportive setting.

Support goes beyond traditional life skills. Young adults are encouraged to explore new hobbies and interests, build social confidence and are supported to plan and attend events, concerts, festivals and holidays, helping independence develop in ways that feel relevant, enjoyable and meaningful.

The team takes a person-centred approach, tailoring support to each individual’s strengths, goals and aspirations. By combining consistent support with encouragement and opportunity, Bridge House aims to help young adults grow in confidence and move towards greater independence at their own pace.
