My Mother was a resident of Harborne Lane Nursing Home for just under a year and a half. Every person that came into contact with my Mother was kind, respectful and caring. Managers, carers, the ladies who washed the clothes, chefs and those in charge of resident's activities.
We were always informed
of how my Mother was from medical attention to what she had been chatting about. It felt that she really had individual care and attention. There was always someone to ask questions to with information always given. Even after my Mother's death, they dealt with the family's feelings with thought and respect. Thank you.

Overall experience is good. Staff and cleanliness of the home are good. Food has recently been improved, ie. food prepared for my father's liking. Staff do advise when medicine, and food not eaten by my dad.

My wife became a recent resident to the current home. The reception we received was very friendly by the management and administration team. Accommodation room was very clean and would star against all aspects I would five-star rate. The food which was provided was well served and presented in acceptable
ways. I am sure this company will do very well with the present team in charge.

My mum was admitted in April 2022 after a serious stroke. Not the most cheerful lady or accepting of care, she didn't understand what help she needed. We have been amazed by the care and attention that the manager, the deputy manager and the receptionist and the amazing team have shown to mum and also
to dad who visited almost daily. The loving way you supported us until mum's peaceful death in the home will long remain in our memory. It was a good day when I chanced upon your home and we will happily spread the word about your care.

When I visited in July it was restricted visiting but the staff were very welcoming as usual. They went above and beyond to make me and my friend comfortable during the pandemic.

The care home was purpose-built. Therefore the accommodation and facilities are excellent. The central heating system has been commented on several times and has to be monitored. I find it strange that there are no thermometers anywhere in the building. There is still a need for agency carers on occasions,
usually weekends, which brings the care standards down from excellent to good. There does not seem to be sufficient supervision of carers on those occasions. There are some excellent staff in other positions, i.e. admin, laundry and cleaning and they often provide care over and above their duties in order to make the residents more comfortable. The nurses are all excellent and provide nursing care of the highest standards.

Thank you for the time and attention you gave to my sister whilst she was with you, it really was appreciated. Everyone was so thoughtful and attended to all her needs with a smile and a little chat. I can't thank you enough for the kindness and care she received from the staff.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.074)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.074) out of 10 for Harborne Lane Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

The Average Rating of 5.000 for Harborne Lane Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.074 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Harborne Lane Nursing Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 68 registered maximum number of service users is 13.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.6 = 0.074

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
