I want to send a big, big thank you to all the staff at Woodthorpe Hill Nursing home for looking after my husband and me. All the team looked after him. I was always greeted with a smile, nothing was too much for them, always answered my questions. He wasn't there for very long, but he was always treated
with respect, dignity and kindness. I was always made to feel like one of the family.

My mother was placed in this home urgently due to the home she was previously was closing down overnight at beginning of December 2025. Adam, one of the managers, was extremely helpful and supportive in ensuring that the transfer went smoothly. Her room is bright, extremely clean (always!) with an
en suite and TV. The TV lounge/dining area is large, bright and spacious with a variety of chairs to suit all clients. There is also a kitchen area where visitors can make a cuppa!
All the staff, without exception, are kind, compassionate and caring towards my mum and myself. They are extremely patient when she gets a bit grumpy. They keep in touch and send photos of activities. The food is lovely and staff adapt the food according to client's needs. Betty, the cook, is brilliant!
The home liaise with my mum's GP practice and keep me informed. All conversations are honest and candid, which I appreciate.
Ample parking (although this may change when more residents move in).

My husband was fast tracked to Woodthorpe Hill Nursing Home from the City Hospital in November for end of life care and was there for approximately 2 weeks before he passed away. While he was there the staff were very capable and caring to both my husband and myself when I visited every day. The owner
Shameem was extremely empathetic spending time explaining procedures and discussing my husband's care and always had time for a chat. When my husband passed away, Shameem made sure that she followed the wishes of the family to the letter and contacted people in the right order which I was very grateful for. The staff were lovely and I would like to say that in particular I was told that Happy, one of the nurses, was with my husband when he passed away and that was very comforting to me. I would recommend this nursing home to anyone looking for excellent care for a family member or friend.

My mum needed urgent respite care after breaking her leg. From initial visit to moving in was less than 48 hours. The initial home visit with Adam/Shabmeen was excellent and we were all treated with respect and courtesy. Mums room was light, airy and very clean and was overlooking the garden( yet to
be fully developed due to newness). Staff were most kind and helpful, thank you everyone.
My mum wanted specific bread for toast and this was accommodated and spoke with Betty the cook about specific meal requests. These were all accommodated too. Everyone was most kind to my dad who had 3 meals with mum, all generously given with no charge. Fantastic service. There were some teething problems with drains and shower rooms but were addressed. As mum was reluctant to ask for help we suggested that care be anticipatory rather than reactionary. This was acknowledged and actioned. Overall my mums stay at Woodthorpe Hill was excellent. Would recommend and would choose to stay again if needed

My mother stayed at Woodthorpe Hill for a weeks respite late September/early October. The home had only just opened, so I was a little concerned that she may be lonely as they were waiting for people to move in. I had no need to worry. The staff were so welcoming & caring, and she really enjoyed her
short stay there. So much so that if/when the time comes for to need residential care she has decided this home would be her choice. My mum was treated as an individual, and all of the staff were interested in her as a person, and not just as a resident. I must give a mention to Shameem, the manager, who was very helpful from my first enquiry. It was clear that she really loves her job and has plans to make this home a lovely place to live. The decor & layout of the home is tasteful, and my mum's room was very modern and comfortable. Highly recommend, even from this short stay.

Woodthorpe hill has been a fantastic place for my mama to settle.
They have been extremely welcoming and understanding they have also put our minds at ease and walked us through all the steps they take to ensure round the clock executive care for mama.
They have been ensuring we have updates surrounding
care and have answered any and all questions and have allowed us secure and safe access to mama upon request at any time of day and night. The staff really are good and helpful.

My mum came here after an awful 2 weeks of falls and hospital stays. From the moment we walked in we felt relaxed and just felt it was the right place for our mum. The staff are amazing nothing is to much trouble my mum was very anxious and I felt they made her very welcome. The home it's self is very
nice and spacious very clean and very welcoming. The food is well presented and very nice. They have a beautiful outside space we're mum sits watching the butterfly's and squirrels. My mum has changed from being anxious and very unsettled since coming to stay. Not only has it helped my mum it has helped a very worried family and its nice to see her smile. We don't worry when leaving her.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.573) out of 10 for Woodthorpe Hill Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.923 for Woodthorpe Hill Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (84 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 91 Ratings = 4.923
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodthorpe Hill Nursing Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.65
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
