Job summary
Are you passionate about making mealtimes meaningful and enjoyable? Do you take pride in creating nutritious, comforting food for others? We are looking for a dedicated and caring Cook to join our team at Woodlands Care Home.
As our Cook, you’ll play a vital role in the health and wellbeing of our residents by preparing and serving high-quality meals in a friendly, home-from-home environment.
We use Apetito to provide nutritious, balanced main meals, which simplifies meal service and ensures dietary needs are met. Your role will include:

Preparing and serving Apetito meals in line with residents' dietary requirements

Preparing light snacks, breakfasts, and accompaniments (e.g., salads, puddings)

Maintaining kitchen hygiene and food safety standards

Supporting with stock rotation, ordering, and kitchen records

Collaborating with care staff to ensure residents enjoy a positive dining experience

?? About You:

We’re looking for someone who is:
-
Experienced in a kitchen or catering environment (care home experience is a bonus)

Confident with food preparation and basic kitchen operations

Aware of food hygiene and dietary requirements (training provided if needed)

Food Hygiene Level 2 (or willingness to complete training) is essential.

Skills / Qualifications:
- Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate (required or willingness to complete)
- Previous experience in a care home

- Understanding of allergen management and dietary needs (training available)
- Basic knowledge of Apetito or willingness to learn (training provided)
- Enhanced DBS check (required – processed by employer)
- Basic cooking and food preparation skills
- Good understanding of nutrition and portion control
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
