Job summary

Remyck House Care is a private family run residential care home located about 10minutes walk from Aldershot Town centre in Hampshire. It’s a home away from home for the 26 residents who use the service. We pride ourselves in promoting independence and providing person centred care

In order to promote and maintain a happy homely atmosphere, we are looking to employ an energetic and creative individual, who is motivated, organised and innovative to bring the best food preparation and presentation to our 26 residents in the home and join the 29 staff at Remyck House

The Role:

You will be responsible for planning, preparation and cooking, 3 nutritious meals per day for 26 elderly residentss breakfast, two course hot lunch, cakes for tea and evening meal for 26 residents according to the menu.  Role requires keeping the kitchen and equipment clean, supervise and coordinate tasks with kitchen assistant.  You have to be well organised, able to use your own initiative and have a good knowledge of food hygiene.  Promoting the resident’s food choice by ensuring their choice are followed. Be aware of food allergens that may affect the residents you serve.  Building good relationships with the service users and their relatives. Acting in accordance with the policies and procedures of the home and ensuring all kitchen records are kept up to date.

Some of the Cook duties include:

  • To plan, organise, cook meals according to the menu and resident food choice.
  • Promote and maintain a clean kitchen environment
  • Work with others to identify the individual resident preferences regarding food intake.
  • Receiving, storing and ordering of food deliveries.
  • Checking and Recording food temperatures and kitchen cleaning schedules
  • Speak to residents regarding their meal choices
  • To check food stock levels, order groceries within given budget
  • Maintain a strict vigilance on food expiry dates
  • To be responsible for the maintenance and safe storage of kitchen equipment and materials.
  • Share in person centred assessment planning implementation and review for residents with weight loss.
  • Enable interaction and communication recognising the special needs residents with dementia ensuring no or minimal hazards that may cause harm.

30 hours per week. The position is for 3 day shifts per week (08:00-18:00) and this can include every weekend, or every other weekend, whichever is preferable to the successful candidate.

Salary: £14 /hour
