Care Assistant

Job summary

1. Personal Care Support

• Assisting residents with daily activities such as:

  • Bathing, showering, and personal hygiene

  • Dressing and grooming

  • Toileting and continence care

• Helping residents with mobility (e.g., walking, using wheelchairs)

2. Health & Wellbeing Monitoring

• Observing residents’ physical and mental condition

• Reporting any changes in health or behaviour to senior staff or nurses

• Supporting medication administration (under supervision)

3. Meal Assistance

• Helping residents with eating and drinking

• Serving meals and ensuring dietary needs are met

• Assisting with feeding if necessary

4. Emotional & Social Support

• Engaging residents in conversation and activities to reduce loneliness

• Encouraging participation in recreational activities

• Providing companionship and reassurance

5. Housekeeping & Safety

• Helping maintain a clean and safe environment

• Assisting with laundry and tidying residents’ rooms

• Ensuring mobility aids and equipment are safe and correctly used

6. Record Keeping

• Documenting care given, observations, and any incidents

• Maintaining accurate care plans and logs

7. Teamwork

• Working closely with nurses, therapists, and other care staff

• Attending handovers and staff meetings
