Location: Towy Castle Care Home, Carmarthen SA32 8DY
Pay: £12.60 per hour
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 07:00 – 17:00 | 3 shifts on, 3 shifts off (includes weekends & bank holidays)

We’re looking for a compassionate and dependable Care Assistant to join our dedicated Dementia Unit team at Towy Castle Care Home. If you have a calm, understanding nature and want to make a real difference every day, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Nestled within three acres of landscaped gardens overlooking the Towy estuary, Towy Castle is a 61-bed residential care home with over 35 years of trusted service. We specialise in high-quality dementia and elderly care, delivered by a long-standing team who value respect, compassion, and person-centred support above all else.

Your Role

As a Care Assistant on our Dementia Unit, you’ll support residents living with varying stages of dementia, helping them feel safe, valued, and understood.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing personal care and support with daily routines (washing, dressing, toileting, mobility)
• Encouraging independence and engagement in meaningful activities
• Offering emotional reassurance and companionship throughout the day
• Supporting residents with meals, hydration, and medication prompts
• Monitoring wellbeing and reporting any changes to senior staff
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and calm environment for all residents

What We’re Looking For

? Previous experience in a care or dementia setting (essential)
? NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
? Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting people living with dementia
? Good communication skills and a reliable, team-focused attitude
? Flexibility to work on a 3-on / 3-off rota, including weekends and public holidays
