A beautifully converted 18th Century mansion, Towy Castle Care Home is situated in 3 acres of private grounds surrounded by amazing views of the Towy estuary.

The family run home provides a range of flexible and tailored care packages for both long-term residential care and day care. In addition, a purpose built specialist dementia care unit was also added to the home in 2012. Staff at the home are well trained and qualified and aim to provide the highest quality of individual based care treating each resident with dignity and respect.

The residential unit comprises of high quality accommodation that has been modernised and designed to provide a homely, secure and happy environment with beautiful rooms and stunning communal spaces. All rooms have an ensuite toilet with a nurse-call system in place, alongside television points. Residents can benefit from a range of facilities and services such as a hair salon and laundry service, and they have the option to participate in regular activities and concerts within the home. Delicious home cooked meals are prepared daily using fresh local produce.

The dementia units provide specialist care in a carefully designed friendly and homely environment for up to twenty residents. Each unit hosts a range of dementia-friendly facilities and also includes an outside sensory garden. All rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished and include a wet-room, nurse-call system, wall mounted television and fitted wardrobes.

For people who would like to try out the services and facilities at Towy Castle or would just like a bit of company and social interaction, the home offers a friendly setting where individuals can enjoy a two-course meal and a dinner.

Thank you to the manager and two other members of staff in particular and all the staff at Towy Castle who cared for my mother for a week's respite in July 2025.
Everyone was so very nice and kind and the staff worked very hard to take care of everyone including the supporting family.

My mother has just finished two and a half months respite care at Tywi Castel. We are so grateful to Sue, Bronwen and the whole team for treating my mother with such kindness and respect throughout her stay.
She leaves to go back home much recovered from her hospital stay at Christmas and we cannot
recommend this facility highly enough.
The team were also fantastic at communicating with me and my wife too who live in the SE of England and could only visit spasmodically.
You are all a great credit to your company.

Sadly my mother passed away on January 8th having been a resident for the last 20 months. I cannot praise the staff at Towy highly enough for the care Mum received - all the staff were always welcoming, friendly and helpful -like a big hug! It really was like a family. Mum was kept engaged with lots
of activities and entertainment. And she loved her trips out on the bus especially if ice cream was involved! The home and Mum's room was always spotlessly clean, her own sheets on her bed and her clothes carefully washed and put away. The food was fantastic - mum put on weight that she desperately needed- and staff were always happy to make alternatives if needed.
The care she received in the last week was exceptional and the family were welcomed with tea and biscuits and a shoulder to cry on. Our only regret is that Mum didn't have longer living at the Castle!

My mum was booked into Towy Castle for 4 weeks for respite whilst adaptations were being carried out at our bungalow. Mum is living with dementia and getting her to accept that she was going to be away from home for 4 weeks was definitely going to be problematic. I had to put my trust in the staff that
they would take good care of Mum for the duration of her stay. First evening she was very annoyed that I had left her there! On my 1st visit she had settled really well, thought the staff were really lovely, she knew a few of the residents and all was fine. She was much calmer and was enjoying her stay. The philosophy of the home is that the care of the individual is the number one priority and that each resident should be treated with dignity and respect and this is exactly the experience/ care mum was given. The Care staff were always cheerful and helpful. The standard of care was exceptional and the management team are excellent. Mum is now on the waiting list to reside there.

I'm over the moon that my gramps was assessed and Towy Castle are able to meet my grandfather's care needs. The staff has given me support and care through this process very caring and understanding. Both carers have put in place the needs of my gramps/ GP / OT / SW reviews. Whilst communicating with
me at all times. It is very important that I'm updated at all times. The carers are outstanding. Thank you all so much. The food is lovely especially the pudding as gramps has a sweet tooth. The home is clean and has fantastic views. You have a lovely welcome by all. The operational manager is very approachable.

My friend went into Towy Castle from October 2023 until December 2023 on respite due to Dementia/Alzheimer's under the direction of the social services. She was looked after like a queen and enjoyed her time there with regular visitors in a beautiful environment, both inside the home and the outside
scenery too. The staff were excellent and kept my friend in very good health and she was very happy, which was of prime importance to all the carers and management. After her respite care, my friend returned home but missed the company of the kind staff and management along with the friends she had made with residents in the home. It seems that in due course my friend will need to go into full-time care as a resident in a care home and Towy Castle is the place she would want to be and an application to this end will be submitted in the near future and hopefully there will be a room for her in this much sought after care home. I really hope she is accepted.

My dad has been on respite care at Towy Castle since November 2023, and prior to that received daycare three days a week. The staff made every effort to make him comfortable but went further to make him happy. They continue to discuss his care with us and not assume the same situation applies. I find
the way the staff, at all levels, treat my dad with respect and dignity is fantastic. He is very happy and that is down to the exceptional care he gets. Final point, the activities that they undertake are fantastic, it's a long day if you're just sitting around, the activities injected break up the day and are very much enjoyed.

My Mum joined the Towy Castle community in August last year. She was confused, unable to stand unaided having come straight from hospital, and anxious. Thanks to the care of the staff, she is now calm, enjoying the activities and walking around with a Zimmer frame. The staff have given her confidence
to be more independent. My mum really enjoys a lot of the activities especially trips out. If I have any concerns regarding my mum, I have no worries about approaching the staff as they are always willing to listen. I am so glad my mum is in Towy Castle, it gives me peace of mind that she is properly cared for.

In one word Towy Castle is 'outstanding'! The home is 5-star! Staff are extremely professional as well as kind, caring and empathetic at all times. Towy Castle is pristine and all aspects of care are first class, Our relative had quite a traumatic move which was made so much easier by all the wonderful

The staff at Towry Castle were wonderful. They really took care of Mum. They kept us fully updated on her welfare and if anything happened we were contacted immediately. They were always welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We felt Mum was in the best place. The home was always spotless and Mum's

My mother-in-law has been a resident for approximately six months. Moving a family member to a care home is a very challenging time. But from the moment we met the manager and the staff, we knew we had found a special place. This feeling has continued.
My mother-in-law is in the dementia unit and
has a large room, with a sofa and high-back chair in addition to her bed. She has her own toilet facilities and shower.
The staff are simply wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble.
There is excellent communication between the staff, relatives and residents. They make huge efforts to find out who my mother-in-law really is, her likes/dislikes.
I could write numerous other examples of excellent care but for anyone contemplating residential care provision, we would strongly recommend Towy Castle Care Home as it genuinely feels like 'home from home'.

This is the third elderly member of our family who has lived at Towy Castle Care Home. We have always found the care provided for our relatives to be first class from communication with family to the food and day-to-day support in all aspects together with a willingness to meet the resident's needs

A beautiful care home in the middle of the country with a glorious review of the River Towy and the rolling hills. My mother was only at Castle Town for eight weeks before she passed away but within that short period of time. The staff had got to know her really well. They were always kind and friendly
and nothing was too much. The visiting areas was delightful with tea and coffee making facilities for the family and delicious cake. Thank you, Towy Castle!

My mum was at this home for a short time and passed peacefully at the home 10th September 2023.
This home is excellent, you felt part of a larger family. Staff were excellent with my mum. Her care, dignity and her overall wellbeing. I am so grateful and thank you all for everything.

Job Title: Home Manager

Originally from Cheshire, Sue moved to Wales in 1982 with her children. Sue is a Registered Nurse and started her career working within hospitals and as a District Nurse. Once her children were older, she returned to working as a Nurse within the private sector, where she worked her way up to a Registered Manager at a Nursing Home. She has remained within this sector as it is a role where she feels she can make a difference.


She has worked as a Registered Manager in England and Wales for the last 12 years in homes ranging from 24 to 80 beds. Sue is a Dementia Specialist Nurse, and has a level 5 in Leadership and Management, Level 4 in Advice and Guidance and Level 3 Diploma in Dementia. Sue also gained a gold award in Leadership and Management in the Care Forum Wales Awards.


She is committed and passionate about caring for and supporting everyone in her homes and providing an environment where staff can learn and flourish to be empathetic carers who put their residents' needs and wishes first. Job Title: Care Coordinator

I grew up in Ferryside, just 10 minutes down the road, and have always had a passion for caring for others. I originally wanted to train as a nurse, but found my calling working with the elderly, where I can make a real difference every day.


As Care Coordinator, my role is to oversee the health and well-being of our residents. I check on each resident daily, liaise with district nurses, arrange and accompany residents to appointments, and provide one-to-one support when needed. I also help with the organisation of home care, making sure everything runs smoothly.


What I enjoy most about my job is getting to know each resident personally – spending time with them, building relationships, and helping them feel truly at home. Working with the staff team feels like being part of a family, and together we create a warm, homely environment with beautiful views that everyone can enjoy.


I am currently completing my Level in Leadership and Management in Social Care, which is helping me to grow and develop in my role.


My goal is to ensure all our residents receive the very best support, feel happy, and know they are always well looked after.
