A beautifully converted 18th Century mansion, Towy Castle Care Home is situated in 3 acres of private grounds surrounded by amazing views of the Towy estuary.

The family run home provides a range of flexible and tailored care packages for both long-term residential care and day care. In addition, a purpose built specialist dementia care unit was also added to the home in 2012. Staff at the home are well trained and qualified and aim to provide the highest quality of individual based care treating each resident with dignity and respect.

The residential unit comprises of high quality accommodation that has been modernised and designed to provide a homely, secure and happy environment with beautiful rooms and stunning communal spaces. All rooms have an ensuite toilet with a nurse-call system in place, alongside television points. Residents can benefit from a range of facilities and services such as a hair salon and laundry service, and they have the option to participate in regular activities and concerts within the home. Delicious home cooked meals are prepared daily using fresh local produce.

The dementia units provide specialist care in a carefully designed friendly and homely environment for up to twenty residents. Each unit hosts a range of dementia-friendly facilities and also includes an outside sensory garden. All rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished and include a wet-room, nurse-call system, wall mounted television and fitted wardrobes.

For people who would like to try out the services and facilities at Towy Castle or would just like a bit of company and social interaction, the home offers a friendly setting where individuals can enjoy a two-course meal and a dinner.

Really helpful and communicative staff, who work hard and provide outstanding care for mum. Plenty of activities to keep the residents active and happy, and always provide updates on illness and medical requirements. This is a real home from home with excellent on hand support and care.

Towy Castle Care Home has had a good reputation for many years. When my cousin became a resident, nearly one year ago, our family were very impressed with the standard of this care home. It is very clean with none of the odours which are normally present. Most of all, the staff are universally friendly
and helpful. All my cousin's needs are cared for, including medical and dental care. He has just celebrated his 100th birthday and enjoyed a wonderful day.

My mother has been a resident at Towy Castle for just over 3 years which has been a very difficult time for everyone due to the Covid pandemic.
My siblings and I have been extremely impressed and relieved at how the home has protected the residents during this awful period.
Over the past year, management
has kept us up to date with the various rules and regulations regarding Covid. The home has been meticulous in maintaining its high standard of care and safeguarding all residents.
All members of the management team are extremely approachable and helpful in keeping me up to date with health issues, GP interventions, medication, behavioural changes etc.
The care staff are very kind, caring and compassionate. I can tell from my mother's reactions towards the carers that she has a very good relationship with them.
I am extremely satisfied with all aspects of the service provided at Towy Castle.

Just over a year ago, we as a family were faced with having to consider a care home for my mother as she was suffering from mixed dementia. Sadly, due to her very challenging behaviour, the time had come for us to seek the assistance of a care home with specialist dementia care. Having heard positive
comments about Towy Castle from friends, we were keen to pursue the option of Towy Castle. Towy Castle is a family-owned care home and from our experience, every resident is treated as an individual. The staff are very professional, caring and very welcoming. The staff manage to provide wonderful care to my mother despite her feelings of paranoia. One of the most valued aspects of her care is the prompt communication of any issues regarding her health and care needs e.g a doctor's visit or new medication. Whilst the decision to move my mother to a care home was a difficult one, I am happy and comforted that the decision we made was the right one. Thank you to all at Towy Castle!

My cousin lived at Towy Castle for two years before her recent death. She was treated with kindness and consideration by the staff who seemed to do their very best in very difficult times to give a high standard of care. Most of the staff and the management were fantastic and none was less than good.

Towy Castle staff all made Mum feel extremely welcome and 'part of the family' from the day she moved in. In fact, her close carers very quickly became her friends. Mum's deteriorating health and increasing needs were met perfectly and any change in the care provided was explained clearly to us, as
her family so we always knew exactly what was going on. Towards the end of her life, Mum was cared for to the highest standards possible and to which I feel any care setting should aspire. Thank you too for all the kindness and sensitivity shown to the whole family during the last month when we were literally visiting several times every day and spending hours with you. Every single member of staff I met went above and beyond what I would have expected of them!

During the time my parent was at Towy Castle, they received the highest level of care and consideration. The staff took care to attend to my parent's deteriorating health, working closely with us and health professionals. They were always attentive and sensitive in their approach. I felt that all the

My father came from East Anglia to live at Towy Castle Care Home some five or six years ago as he was gradually getting obvious dementia memory loss and confusion. He quickly appeared happy at the home even though he was aware of being placed into care, something he had resisted for many years. Within
days, he showed a marked improvement in both his physical and mental state. He loved the food, the staff and the atmosphere, and he had a fair few happy years of residence until he sadly passed away.
Throughout his time at Towy Castle, I always felt that he was safe yet free to go anywhere he wished, within the bounds of safety and necessary monitoring. The staff were excellent, warm and friendly despite the restrictions of lockdown. I was always kept aware of any issues expeditiously by phone. The owners of the home are very professional, as well as being approachable and friendly. When Dad died, the staff were fully supportive, helpful and professional yet discreet.

As a retired registered manager, I researched a number of care settings before approaching Towy Castle for a place for my parents. Mum and Dad were placed in October 2021. From my first contact with the staff, I was struck by their warmth and professionalism, nothing was too much trouble and communication
was always speedy, informed and effective. My parents had many needs, they were treated individually as well as a couple. The care was provided in full consultation, where possible, with my parents and always in discussion with myself and my sister. When Dad and Mum were unwell, medical attention was sought quickly often out of hours. When it became apparent that my father was coming to the end of his life the care was exemplary. My mother was supported at the funeral by the Registered manager and the support from staff to mum since dad's passing has been faultless. Towy Castle has been a godsend to us as a family and we cannot speak highly enough of the care provided to our parents.

My husband and I had to make the difficult decision to move my mother-in-law into a care home from a hospital during Covid times in early 2021. That decision was made a lot easier for us as my mother-in-law had already done her homework and told us she wanted to go to Towy Castle in the event she could
no longer look after herself. We fully understand why she chose Towy Castle. The home is in a beautiful location and my mother-in-law had a lovely room overlooking the estuary which she particularly enjoyed. However, like most things in life, it is the people who really make the difference. The help, care and support given to my mother-in-law by all the staff was always first class and nothing was too much trouble. This was a great comfort to us particularly as we live 4 hours away. In addition, we felt we were always kept informed, involved in every decision and also made to feel very welcome. My mother-in-law's words were always "everyone is so lovely here, they are all so kind".

As a family, we reviewed the Care home options in detail, including site visits and scoring each option with assessment criteria. Towy Castle was without any doubt, the Care Home of choice in every respect. Mum moved effortlessly into Towy Castle, during difficult COVID times, and was settled immediately
into a beautiful room overlooking the estuary. Later, Mum requested, for convenience, to move to the ground floor which was arranged as soon as a room became available. We visited Mum routinely and the staff ensured that Mum received the best possible visitation facilities, under the ever-changing and restrictive COVID conditions, which were respected continuously. I cannot say in words how reassured we all were to know that Mum was receiving the best possible care. If there is one thing that characterises Towy Castle it is the 'culture' that exists throughout the Team. If I may, I would like to mention the manager and her assistant as outstanding members of the Management Team.

What a lovely homely place Towy Castle is, in a stunning location that enhances the whole experience for my mother, who has been a resident for a couple of months and has settled in wonderfully. The whole team have been supportive and sensitive to her needs, often going above and beyond to ensure that
she is happy. All the team respond positively to ensure that she gets the best possible help and that her needs are fully met. We are delighted to have found Towy Castle and to have become part of the Towy Castle extended family and we look forward to a long and happy association.

From the very very first contact by telephone with Towy Castle I was so very, very impressed - the support, kindness, professionalism and above all dignity and understanding of service users needs, and support to family members, well it's second to none. If I had to give them marks out of 10 for best
care home ever I would give them 12. This unwavering unconditional support of myself and my mother continues every single day. Nothing is too much trouble. Furthermore, if I ask for something for my mum, it's done immediately - the staff, right from housekeeping to carers and then manager and owners, absolutely bend over backwards. My mum is so well looked after, she is so happy there. The home is in unrivalled countryside with fabulous views - it's like being in a 5 star luxury hotel being at Towy Castle. In addition, it's spotlessly clean and the interior and decor are gorgeous. This care home, staff etc exceeded and continues to exceed all my expectations. So marks out of 10 would be 12.

My wife, who is suffering from dementia has been a resident of Towy Castle Care Home for 4 years. During that period I have been totally satisfied with her care.
The period since March 2020 has been very difficult from a visiting point of view but the home has been very successful in keeping all residents
free from Covid. They have also provided a comfortable cabin for us to visit our loved ones in a safe environment.

Mum was in this care home for two years. The first year she was looked after well. However, once the Covid restrictions made visiting impossible, she deteriorated very quickly. We were not aware of this until we moved her to Kent a few months ago when it became obvious that she was very poorly. The
new care home she moved to was very concerned about her health and after investigations found that she was suffering from heart failure, fluid on her lungs, enlarged heart and kidney failure, all of which were advanced.
Unfortunately she passed away after only being in the new home for 10 weeks.

My lovely uncle was a resident at Towy Castle for nearly two years. He settled well and took part in lots of activities that were well adapted for the residents. The best part for me was they sent lots of photos that I could see how happy he was.

My mother was at this home for seven years and the previous two years for the day. I could not have asked for better. She was very happy, well fed and always clean and tidy. The staff are out of this world, they are so kind to my mother and also to me and other members of my family. My mother died there
a few days ago. I can only thank them for all they did for her.

Sue Lanceley

Job Title: Home Manager

Originally from Cheshire, Sue moved to Wales in 1982 with her children. Sue is a Registered Nurse and started her career working within hospitals and as a District Nurse. Once her children were older, she returned to working as a Nurse within the private sector, where she worked her way up to a Registered Manager at a Nursing Home. She has remained within this sector as it is a role where she feels she can make a difference.


She has worked as a Registered Manager in England and Wales for the last 12 years in homes ranging from 24 to 80 beds. Sue is a Dementia Specialist Nurse, and has a level 5 in Leadership and Management, Level 4 in Advice and Guidance and Level 3 Diploma in Dementia. Sue also gained a gold award in Leadership and Management in the Care Forum Wales Awards.


She is committed and passionate about caring for and supporting everyone in her homes and providing an environment where staff can learn and flourish to be empathetic carers who put their residents' needs and wishes first. Sue's priority is ensuring that her residents are happy, well cared for and valued.

Job Title: Care Coordinator

I grew up in Ferryside, just 10 minutes down the road, and have always had a passion for caring for others. I originally wanted to train as a nurse, but found my calling working with the elderly, where I can make a real difference every day.


As Care Coordinator, my role is to oversee the health and well-being of our residents. I check on each resident daily, liaise with district nurses, arrange and accompany residents to appointments, and provide one-to-one support when needed. I also help with the organisation of home care, making sure everything runs smoothly.


What I enjoy most about my job is getting to know each resident personally – spending time with them, building relationships, and helping them feel truly at home. Working with the staff team feels like being part of a family, and together we create a warm, homely environment with beautiful views that everyone can enjoy.


I am currently completing my Level in Leadership and Management in Social Care, which is helping me to grow and develop in my role.


My goal is to ensure all our residents receive the very best support, feel happy, and know they are always well looked after.
