I have found this home to be very caring towards residents, there is always a lovely atmosphere with staff always willing to help. At the home, the place is kept very clean and to a high standard. My wife always looks impeccable, as does her room.

My mother is in her 96th year. A sturdy Dutch-born woman who survived starvation in Rotterdam during WW2. A wonderful woman. Mammy is content in Dan Y Graig. Of course she would like to be in her old home but this is certainly an excellent solution. She is safe, she is cared for and nurtured. The staff
are wonderful and Mammy is very grateful to each and every one of them. Thank you Dan Y Graig.

Thank you to the manager and two other members of staff in particular and all the staff at Towy Castle who cared for my mother for a week's respite in July 2025.

I visit my friend every week and travel from Llandrindod Wells. Having been a support worker myself, I have been in many care establishments and 'The Mountains' are by far the best that I have experienced. I am even observant. The support is excellent with plenty to stimulate, caring and all treated
with dignity and a smile. The building/rooms are comfortable and clean (no bad odours). The food is delicious.
A larger lift would be good.

Mum transitioned from a residential care to here a nursing home with ease. Communication prior to move was good, the activity staff collected and welcomed Mum into her new home. All staff at every level are helpful, kind and very approachable. The home is busy and staff have many challenges but they
always carry out their roles respectfully and with kindness. The Mountains is clean and appears well equipped. Mums room is very nice and always well presented. Mum enjoys local trips out which has been made possibly by the fabulous Activity Team!
My experience of The Mountains Care Home is very, very good. Mum is settled and happy here. Thank you all very much for all your hard work.
Reply from Therisa Galazka, Home Manager at The Mountains

How lovely to receive such positive feedback .... we are so happy to read that your mum's transition and settling in period went well. Your observations about the busy environment is accurate and we aim to engage our residents in a range of activities on a daily basis. I too salute our Activities Team as they work wonders! I will of course share your feedback with the wider team as I'm sure they will appreciate the positive review.

My mother has just finished two and a half months respite care at Tywi Castel. We are so grateful to Sue, Bronwen and the whole team for treating my mother with such kindness and respect throughout her stay.
She leaves to go back home much recovered from her hospital stay at Christmas and we cannot
recommend this facility highly enough.
The team were also fantastic at communicating with me and my wife too who live in the SE of England and could only visit spasmodically.
You are all a great credit to your company.

Towy Castle Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Sadly my mother passed away on January 8th having been a resident for the last 20 months. I cannot praise the staff at Towy highly enough for the care Mum received - all the staff were always welcoming, friendly and helpful -like a big hug! It really was like a family. Mum was kept engaged with lots
of activities and entertainment. And she loved her trips out on the bus especially if ice cream was involved! The home and Mum's room was always spotlessly clean, her own sheets on her bed and her clothes carefully washed and put away. The food was fantastic - mum put on weight that she desperately needed- and staff were always happy to make alternatives if needed.
The care she received in the last week was exceptional and the family were welcomed with tea and biscuits and a shoulder to cry on. Our only regret is that Mum didn't have longer living at the Castle!
Reply from Susan Lanceley, Registered Manager at Towy Castle Care Home

Mum is very happy in the mountains care home. The staff are very professional, courteous and caring, saving me a lot of worry and frequent phone calls. Communication is very good and the activities are excellent. I was emotionally exhausted and feeling terribly guilty at placing Mum into care but now
when I visit it comes with the warmest welcome and I can enjoy quality time with Mum. It's a great comfort to see her, well cared for and happy. So thank you all for such a brilliant and vital service.

So pleasing to read the most recent HIW report. Mum has been a resident for over 4 years. The manager has worked very hard to create a well-run care home. The staff works so well as a team and the activities team does so many interesting activities with the residents. Communication has improved and
the clinical staff are understanding and very knowledgeable. Thank you.

Good morning, my niece is being cared for at Harewood, she needs medical care as well as social care and I am very happy with the care provided. My niece is not a good mixer, but she has warmed to most of the staff now due to their attention to her, the manager and staff are always willing to meet with
me and discuss any issues arising and due to their care her medical issues are improving weekly, it is also a very accessible place to visit.

My mum was booked into Towy Castle for 4 weeks for respite whilst adaptations were being carried out at our bungalow. Mum is living with dementia and getting her to accept that she was going to be away from home for 4 weeks was definitely going to be problematic. I had to put my trust in the staff that
they would take good care of Mum for the duration of her stay. First evening she was very annoyed that I had left her there! On my 1st visit she had settled really well, thought the staff were really lovely, she knew a few of the residents and all was fine. She was much calmer and was enjoying her stay. The philosophy of the home is that the care of the individual is the number one priority and that each resident should be treated with dignity and respect and this is exactly the experience/ care mum was given. The Care staff were always cheerful and helpful. The standard of care was exceptional and the management team are excellent. Mum is now on the waiting list to reside there.
