Myself and my family are so pleased with the care and compassion shown to my mum who has been a resident since October 2025.
Whenever we visit the home it is always spotless and mum always looks clean and well dressed.
The staff are always busy but always maintain a cheery, positive and caring attitude to the residents and always approachable if we have any questions.

My mum seems very happy and contented there which means the world to us.

My Mum has been a resident at The Mountains Care Home since October 2025,having initially been placed there via Social Services.
What was a particularly difficult time for us as a family navigating the system which was made much easier by Sue and all the staff at The Mountains, who made us feel at ease through all aspects, from the home assessment to her admittance.
Having visited my Mum at The Mountains on several occasions we can see that she is well cared for and is receiving the specialised care that she needs. The staff at The Mountains do a fantastic job in very trying circumstances and are always pleasant and friendly.

I would have no hesitation in recommending The Mountains Care Home to others.

I really cannot rate this home highly enough, the staff here are quite exceptional. The patience and care they showed my husband has meant so much to me. The fact that he settled so much more quickly than I expected was due, I am sure, to the gentle humour, support and stimulation offered to him by people who cared enough to take time to learn his likes and dislikes. The home is always clean, fresh and welcoming, my husband always neat and clean and his room immaculate and comfortable - a lovely environment and a credit to housekeeping and catering staff. My husband's health issues have always been addressed promptly and with utmost care by staff I could trust implicitly. Management and staff are never less than friendly and approachable and I would not hesitate to recommend the Mountains to anyone and offer my sincere thanks for all their care.

Every time I walk into the Mountains care home I'm met with smiles and friendly comments from carers, and it doesn't seem to matter how hard they might be working! I appreciate their positive and calm attitude so much, especially as sometimes I arrive worried about Mum or rushed off my feet, and their calm accepting and patient attitude works like a soothing balm at those times! I can see how well Mum responds to this kind of treatment. Although Mum has advanced dementia, being a teacher and a very active kind of person, and a naturally born leader, she has always loved people and with her outgoing nature has always been a magnet for likeminded people. I love the way the carers recognised these qualities in her and encourage her to be herself. You're all a complete Godsend - thank you so much for all you do for Mum!

Reply from Therisa Galazka, Home Manager at The Mountains

What a wonderful review Rachel..... thank you so very much. Mum is a beautifully kind natured lady. It has been lovely to share memories of travel with her through you and your family. My father has advanced dementia, and his behaviour is very challenging at times. The home he was in previously were unable to cope with his needs and he became poorly, but The Mountains changed that within a few weeks, liaising with doctors to find the best treatment/medication for him.
Dad's behaviour has become even more challenging, but the staff are wonderful with him, respectful, patient and kind. They are also very kind and supportive towards my sister and I, always keeping us well informed. Any health issues are dealt with quickly.
Although Dad doesn't really respond well now, there are activities every day for residents, and his dietary needs are now being met, with help feeding if he needs it.

My sister and I are so grateful to have found the Mountains and it's wonderful staff, and have no hesitation in recommending them.

I have been meaning to write a formal review for some time as Mum has lived at the Mountains since last October and I have been very happy with the care she receives. Just over a week ago Mum received a visit from her sister, and two great friends, who Mum has not seen for over a year. As I felt it was an important visit for all concerned i rang the Home ahead of time and explained, and requested the garden lounge be available for the visit. Following the visit my aunt, one of the visitors, rang me and was full of praise for the warm welcome they received, commenting that we could not have found a better home for Mum. They were supported to access the quiet lounge, then enjoyed time in the garden, too, which they all thoroughly enjoyed . My aunt said all staff were very warm and caring.
Personally, I too find all staff very committed and very supportive - the nurses, carers, housekeeping, activities team- and I have had excellent communication with the new Manager.

Many thanks all!

I am particularly grateful for the kindness, tolerance and patience and the smile of all the carers, without exception. They help make the sadness of my wife's condition a little more bearable, and I am very grateful. What would we do without all the immigrant carers?

I visit my friend every week and travel from Llandrindod Wells. Having been a support worker myself, I have been in many care establishments and 'The Mountains' are by far the best that I have experienced. I am even observant. The support is excellent with plenty to stimulate, caring and all treated with dignity and a smile. The building/rooms are comfortable and clean (no bad odours). The food is delicious.

A larger lift would be good.

Mum transitioned from a residential care to here a nursing home with ease. Communication prior to move was good, the activity staff collected and welcomed Mum into her new home. All staff at every level are helpful, kind and very approachable. The home is busy and staff have many challenges but they always carry out their roles respectfully and with kindness. The Mountains is clean and appears well equipped. Mums room is very nice and always well presented. Mum enjoys local trips out which has been made possibly by the fabulous Activity Team!

My experience of The Mountains Care Home is very, very good. Mum is settled and happy here. Thank you all very much for all your hard work.

Mum is very happy in the mountains care home. The staff are very professional, courteous and caring, saving me a lot of worry and frequent phone calls. Communication is very good and the activities are excellent. I was emotionally exhausted and feeling terribly guilty at placing Mum into care but now when I visit it comes with the warmest welcome and I can enjoy quality time with Mum. It's a great comfort to see her, well cared for and happy. So thank you all for such a brilliant and vital service.

So pleasing to read the most recent HIW report. Mum has been a resident for over 4 years. The manager has worked very hard to create a well-run care home. The staff works so well as a team and the activities team does so many interesting activities with the residents. Communication has improved and the clinical staff are understanding and very knowledgeable. Thank you.
