We attended a Christmas meal and party on for the residents and families. The day was well organised and ran smoothly. The staff could not have done anything better. They were friendly, helpful and made everyone's experience a fantastic one. The food was like eating in a great restaurant and attention
was paid to every detail. The entertainment was thoroughly enjoyable and kept everyone in good spirits. Fantastic place, fantastic staff

When visiting my wife she's sitting in the main lounge with other patients some of whom are making loud repetitive noises continuously,. In this situation any person would find it intolerable after a short time. When I leave I think about her being in this situation for most of the time, and this though
upsets me.

My brother and I had great difficulty getting my dad into a home because of his difficulties and were worried that Brecon would be to far away as I live in Monmouth and my brother lives in Chepstow. However the Mountains home in Libanus has suited his needs his care has been very good, the management
and staff have a very difficult job with the residents who have varied and difficult problems. I have turned up unannounced on many occasions and the care staff have been very very good. The Christmas dinner was a brilliant idea the staff went the extra mile dressed up as waiters and waitresses including the managers. In short the team at Libanus have extended my dads life with quality and dignity. Well done.

I had fears about my brother moving into a care home, but I have to admit my fears were quite unfounded. I cannot fault the Mountains in any way, from the manager to the cleaning staff, they are all first class.

My dad has been a resident at Mountains Nursing Home since October 2013. It is a well kept care home, always exceptionally clean and my dad has a lovely room with beautiful views. The staff are second to none, very caring and compassionate. They treat the residents with dignity and are so kind to them.
They are extremely professional especially when dealing with disruptive and sometimes violent residents. I am grateful that my dad was accepted as a resident at Mountains Nursing Home as I know we could not have found a better care home for him.

Therisa

Therisa Galazka

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

Therisa Galazka is the Home Manager at the Mountains and takes great pride in her role and the opportunity to work in the stunning surroundings of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons). With over 25 years of experience in the health and social care sector, Therisa began her career as a registered mental health nurse.


She has worked across both the NHS and the independent sector, progressing to the role of the Hospital Director, where she led a large multi-disciplinary Team for fifteen years. Therisa is passionate about improving care for all. She has played a key role in commissioning and establishing three secure services in South Wales, supporting individuals living with mental disorders and complex challenging behaviours.


Her work has focused on strategic planning, implementing management initiatives and driving continuous improvement.


In recognition of her dedication during the pandemic, Therisa was awarded the "Inspirational Nurse of the Year award in 2021 for her proactive leadership and unwavering support for her team and service users.


Therisa is proud to be leading the team at the Mountains and working closely with managers and staff, supporting everyone to develop their skills and nurturing a positive environment in which they can provide the highest quality care for all residents.

Sue

Sue Clark

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Sue has worked in care since the age of 17 and qualified as a nurse at 39.


Originally from Portsmouth, she later moved to Tredegar and began supporting the team at The Mountains before making a permanent move to the home a year ago.


As Deputy Manager and Clinical Lead, Sue plays a vital role in supporting residents and staff. She oversees clinical care, guides the team, and ensures that every resident continues to receive compassionate, respectful support no matter how their needs change.


Having swapped the sea for the mountains, Sue has embraced her new community with enthusiasm. She is committed to building strong relationships with residents, staff, and families, always maintaining an open-door policy for conversations, phone calls, and support.


Sue is passionate about creating a homely environment where residents feel valued, understood, and cared for with empathy every day.

Taryn

Taryn Williams

Job Title: Clinical Lead

Taryn joined The Mountains nearly two years ago and brings a wealth of experience as an adult nurse specialising in dementia care. She qualified at the University of South Wales and, having grown up in Nelson, Caerphilly, has always had a passion for supporting older people, particularly those living with Alzheimer’s and dementia – a journey she began at just 18 years old.


As Clinical Lead, Taryn focuses on the health and well-being of residents, supporting their everyday needs and ensuring person-centred care is delivered with compassion. She also works closely with the management team and supports fellow nurses to provide the very best standards of care.


Taryn enjoys being part of The Mountains, valuing both the supportive team and the warm, welcoming environment. For her, the setting of the home and the sense of community make it a special place to work.
