A beautifully converted 18th Century mansion, Towy Castle Care Home is situated in 3 acres of private grounds surrounded by amazing views of the Towy estuary.

The family run home provides a range of flexible and tailored care packages for both long-term residential care and day care. In addition, a purpose built specialist dementia care unit was also added to the home in 2012. Staff at the home are well trained and qualified and aim to provide the highest quality of individual based care treating each resident with dignity and respect.

The residential unit comprises of high quality accommodation that has been modernised and designed to provide a homely, secure and happy environment with beautiful rooms and stunning communal spaces. All rooms have an ensuite toilet with a nurse-call system in place, alongside television points. Residents can benefit from a range of facilities and services such as a hair salon and laundry service, and they have the option to participate in regular activities and concerts within the home. Delicious home cooked meals are prepared daily using fresh local produce.

The dementia units provide specialist care in a carefully designed friendly and homely environment for up to twenty residents. Each unit hosts a range of dementia-friendly facilities and also includes an outside sensory garden. All rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished and include a wet-room, nurse-call system, wall mounted television and fitted wardrobes.

For people who would like to try out the services and facilities at Towy Castle or would just like a bit of company and social interaction, the home offers a friendly setting where individuals can enjoy a two-course meal and a dinner.

My father has been at Towy Castle Care Home for four years. During this time, he has excellent care from every member of staff.
They are all polite, friendly and happy staff and treat my father with dignity.
Towy Castle is a beautiful place.

My wife was in a bad way when she moved in. At times she could not recognise me. Two years later her only problem is mobility. I can visit anytime I like. I take her out sometimes to the theatre getting back late. I take her away at Christmas for about 5 days to visit our family. She has no worries,
is taken care of and has a better life than I could give her at home.

Upon entry in January 2016, mother was included in most activities. Unfortunately, her health deteriorated in April 2017, resulting in nil mobility and exclusion in outings and no exercise.
She has no motivation now to take part in much although the coordinator has tried to encourage and persuade.

would suggest more support staff needed.

My late father was a resident from 2014 to 2016, my mother a resident from 2012 to date and is in the dementia unit. The home accommodated my father's and the needs of my mother impeccably, during an extremely upsetting and emotional transition of my mother going into the care home and the needs of
my father, who was registered blind and in 2014 had both his legs amputated from his knee down. The management and staff at the home made the whole move as smooth as possible and accommodated their individual needs. My mother and father were made to feel like part of the big family ethos of the home. I am also made to feel part of Towy Castle Family, which is a great comfort and I know that the exceptional care is there for my mother, the carers dress my mother with the same dignity they would dress their own mother. The whole management and staff run a very professional home from home care home and are always looking for ways to engage the residents. The whole ambience of the home is exceptional.

My mother has been a resident at Towy Castle since October 2009. Throughout this period she has received excellent care from the committed and compassionate staff of the home. I cannot recommend Towy Castle strongly enough, particularly for residents suffering from dementia, who are supported daily
to enjoy life to the fullest extent they can.

Over the years that I visited my relative at Towy Castle, I was welcomed by the staff and always had a little chat. My relative was always presented very smartly and clean. She was always 'pressing' the staff and was happy.


The one thing that I was more than impressed with was if my relative was

not well, the doctor was always called, and I was informed of the visit. A wonderful care home.

I am so pleased with Towy Castle. My mother has been resident for 3 years and everything has been 1st class. The staff, managers and owners are all lovely - kind and empathetic, never dismissive or uncaring. Communication is excellent. The service is invested in continuously by the owners, smart, appropriate
and comfortable furniture, refurbishing rooms to ensure the highest standards. It feels like a hotel. Communal facilities are beautiful with large lounges, comfortable seating set out sociably, not like waiting rooms, quiet conservatories. The panoramic views from the patios are breath-taking. Modern patio furniture, large parasols beautiful grounds for walking in, native, woodland flowers. There is a hairdressing salon and a visiting chiropodist and manicurist. Regular entertainment and trips out, for those that want them but it is perfectly fine if people do not want any of that. It is all about choice. I give the whole service my admiration and my grateful thanks.

Towy Castle Care Home looked after my mother for 8 years.
They provided exceptional care throughout that time.
As someone who used to frequently provide dental care to care home residents, I can certainly say that Towy Castle is very well run and a caring business.

For the greater part of her stay in Towy Castle, my mother was in the Dementia Unit. She received personal, friendly care. The staff in the unit continually provided one to one care when required, their patience was to be admired. Towards the end, they insisted on giving her 'bed care' which was to
a standard higher than the hospital could provide.
Recommend them? I'd be happy to reside there myself, but maybe not yet.

I can't recommend Towy Castle highly enough. It is in a beautiful location. It was always spotlessly clean when I visited. My father entered the home in January 2017 and was very happy there. He told me on more than one occasion that he felt lucky to be in such a beautiful place. The staff were always
very kind to him and he used to enjoy having a little joke with them. I was very grateful that it was such a positive experience for him.

I am so grateful that my mother spent the last six years of her life in such a caring environment. I have only praise for the quality of care, the professional understanding and the atmosphere of tranquillity at all times.
The staff are so committed to their roles and so involved with the welfare of
each resident in such a way that everyone feels valued. As a visitor you feel welcomed and a part of the caring home environment. The staff are well trained and experienced to communicate with residents and visitors in a professional but caring manner.
Always positive and complimentary about the ones they care for and always willing to go that one step further by making visiting an enjoyable experience.
I travelled 2 hours to visit my Mum and was always made welcomed and always felt at home and amongst friends.
A caring management team led by sensitive and passionate owners for the welfare of their residents, giving the home an ethos of warmth and security to our loved ones when most needed.

My mother had been a resident of Towy Castle Dementia Unit for over four years. I cannot praise the staff enough, for the exceptionally high standard of care that was shown towards my mother, myself, our family and friends who have visited over the years. My sister and I recently stayed with our mother
during the last few days of her life. We were totally overwhelmed by the genuine love, compassion and support received during this time by everyone on the team, from management to housekeeping.


My father-in-law, at 91, also came to live in Towy Castle at the beginning of the year. After an initial settling in period, he absolutely loved this new chapter in his life. He was so happy and would adore teasing staff with his quick wit and twinkle in his eye. Recently he too died, following a short illness. Staff were genuinely affected by his death. What more could anyone want, than to know that their loved one is having the very best in care? Towy Castle provides just such a service.

Sue

Sue Lanceley

Job Title: Home Manager

Originally from Cheshire, Sue moved to Wales in 1982 with her children. Sue is a Registered Nurse and started her career working within hospitals and as a District Nurse. Once her children were older, she returned to working as a Nurse within the private sector, where she worked her way up to a Registered Manager at a Nursing Home. She has remained within this sector as it is a role where she feels she can make a difference.


She has worked as a Registered Manager in England and Wales for the last 12 years in homes ranging from 24 to 80 beds. Sue is a Dementia Specialist Nurse, and has a level 5 in Leadership and Management, Level 4 in Advice and Guidance and Level 3 Diploma in Dementia. Sue also gained a gold award in Leadership and Management in the Care Forum Wales Awards.


She is committed and passionate about caring for and supporting everyone in her homes and providing an environment where staff can learn and flourish to be empathetic carers who put their residents' needs and wishes first. Sue's priority is ensuring that her residents are happy, well cared for and valued.

Job Title: Care Coordinator

I grew up in Ferryside, just 10 minutes down the road, and have always had a passion for caring for others. I originally wanted to train as a nurse, but found my calling working with the elderly, where I can make a real difference every day.


As Care Coordinator, my role is to oversee the health and well-being of our residents. I check on each resident daily, liaise with district nurses, arrange and accompany residents to appointments, and provide one-to-one support when needed. I also help with the organisation of home care, making sure everything runs smoothly.


What I enjoy most about my job is getting to know each resident personally – spending time with them, building relationships, and helping them feel truly at home. Working with the staff team feels like being part of a family, and together we create a warm, homely environment with beautiful views that everyone can enjoy.


I am currently completing my Level in Leadership and Management in Social Care, which is helping me to grow and develop in my role.


My goal is to ensure all our residents receive the very best support, feel happy, and know they are always well looked after.
