A beautifully converted 18th Century mansion, Towy Castle Care Home is situated in 3 acres of private grounds surrounded by amazing views of the Towy estuary.

The family run home provides a range of flexible and tailored care packages for both long-term residential care and day care. In addition, a purpose built specialist dementia care unit was also added to the home in 2012. Staff at the home are well trained and qualified and aim to provide the highest quality of individual based care treating each resident with dignity and respect.

The residential unit comprises of high quality accommodation that has been modernised and designed to provide a homely, secure and happy environment with beautiful rooms and stunning communal spaces. All rooms have an ensuite toilet with a nurse-call system in place, alongside television points. Residents can benefit from a range of facilities and services such as a hair salon and laundry service, and they have the option to participate in regular activities and concerts within the home. Delicious home cooked meals are prepared daily using fresh local produce.

The dementia units provide specialist care in a carefully designed friendly and homely environment for up to twenty residents. Each unit hosts a range of dementia-friendly facilities and also includes an outside sensory garden. All rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished and include a wet-room, nurse-call system, wall mounted television and fitted wardrobes.

For people who would like to try out the services and facilities at Towy Castle or would just like a bit of company and social interaction, the home offers a friendly setting where individuals can enjoy a two-course meal and a dinner.

In the five years, my father was at Towy Castle, he was treated with the utmost respect by staff and management. As a family, we were glad that he was safe, well looked after in comfortable surroundings. We are very grateful for the care he received.

Like everyone, the thought of Mum going into a care home filled me with fear. But after visiting Towy Castle, our worries all disappeared. We, as visitors, were made extremely welcome whenever we called. Mum was so happy whenever we saw her, whether that was in person or the photos and videos we received
on social media. The care staff were, without exception, extremely helpful with caring for Mum, and nothing was ever too much trouble.
The setting is outstanding, and the cleanliness of the care home is incredible; all bedrooms, shower rooms and toilets are spotlessly clean. Meals are superb, and a menu placed on a board daily. I would recommend Towy Castle Care Home to anyone. They made my mums final years so happy. Thank you, Towy Castle.

My mother received excellent care at Towy Castle from the day she arrived. The staff have offered expert, compassionate and appropriate service at all times, providing residents with a very high quality of life, even during the difficult and uncertain days of the coronavirus pandemic. Few homes can
boast the breathtaking views that Towy Castle has. I have been very impressed with the way in which the home has kept residents safe and well, whilst allowing family and friends to stay in touch and visit in a Covid-secure way, as allowed by government regulations. I am sure that if circumstances had allowed, the range of activities offered would have been greater - and so my 'good' rating (rather than 'excellent') reflects restrictions beyond the home's control rather than any failings from the staff. Having Welsh-speaking staff has been an added bonus so that residents can communicate in the language of their choice. Sincere thanks for all that they have done and continue to do. Diolch yn fawr. A pleasant home, where staff make you welcome.
Food we think is a little too modern for elderly people.

Mum came to Towy Castle due to her inability to cope at home. She had stopped going out and was losing her way/independence. Due to the home's positive atmosphere and friendly and helpful staff, Mum has come out of her shell. She seems to enjoy all the various activities and loves exploring the local
amenities. This has helped reverse her decline and gave my mum a new lease of life. She is happier, positive and often laughing. I would definitely recommend this home as the care is excellent and staff are always helpful and supportive.

Dad suffers from Alzheimer's and moved into Towy Castle in February 2019 after having home live-in care. The care and service performed here has reduced his anxiety significantly, he's happier with the support of all the staff than at home and his Alzheimers' has stabilised. He regularly says that
he's happy here and all the staff at Towy Castle take a genuine interest in his well-being. He's busy with activities in the home as well as regular visits outside as well. He participates in most of the activities and feels well cared for by the team. We are therefore very happy with the caring approach taken by the team here. We are so pleased with the care taken by the home.

My aunt's room is large, light and airy and has a sizeable ensuite shower. Her room is on the dementia unit which has a smaller dining /sitting room area suitable for residents with memory loss. There are a cinema room and hairdressing room on the same floor. My aunt tells me the food is excellent and
enough of it.
The reason I'm most impressed with is the activities. Every week there is a packed diary of events to suit everyone. There are varied in house activities such as chair yoga, singing, crafting, visiting entertainment. Also, therapy pets visit. A range of trips to local concerts, cafes and Ty-Golau are among some of the jaunts arranged.
Towy Castle has a social media page showing all the activities that happen so that relatives can see their loved ones enjoying life at Towy Castle.

Mum spent the last four years of her life at Towy Castle. She struggled to settle in initially but the staff went above and beyond to make her comfortable and settle in. The staff were very caring and got to know Mum's individual needs. This helped to improve her quality of life. The activities improved
and increased from when she first started and Mum loved her trips out to lunch and shopping, etc. The home extended her life with us and I will be forever grateful.
Having visited and viewed many care homes, this was and without doubt is the best. Beautiful building, fantastic outlook, clean and airy, a great bunch of staff and easy access to family and visitors at any time.

Selecting a care home for our 90 year old mother was a very harrowing and stressful experience. Being a very close, caring family, selection of the right home was paramount to ensure it met family expectations.
Towy Castle was our first choice following extensive research. Mum settled in well and was
contended having staff that were very friendly, thoughtful and caring. Standards at the home were high and during every visit, the impression was that there was a cooperate ethos of a professional caring service. We knew we made the correct choice as Towy Castle exceeded all our expectations.
During our darkest moment the compassion and support provided to us as a family, by both management and staff, supported Mum to pass away peacefully and with dignity.
Thanks to everyone involved at Towy Castle.

Towy Castle Care Home has a lovely vista over the Towy River and farmlands.
The home itself is modern, clean and spacious. Staff are very caring, helpful and keep residents clean and tidy. There is an in-house hairdresser, varied activities and outings. I am so grateful that my mother is happy and

My mother has been a dementia resident at Towy Castle for about nine months and whilst she has unfortunately deteriorated, the care from the staff has been excellent and a great source of comfort to me as I live some 140 miles away. Whilst she didn't settle in particularly well, being very strong minded
and having lived in her own home prior to this, the staff have supported her and reassured me during this time.
Mum's first language is Welsh and the Welsh speaking staff have undoubtedly helped her settle. Her illness is a first for our family (and hopefully the last) but Towy Castle has lived up to its reputation for quality and care.

Towy Castle Care Home is extremely good for my mother, she is very comfortable and happy. I know that my mum can be very stubborn at times but the carers in the home know exactly how to please her. She is well cared for and has frequent visits from the doctor to make sure everything is well.

Towy Castle Care Home is set in beautiful surroundings, overlooking the estuary and has beautiful grounds. The interior has character and is tastefully decorated with vases of flowers and pictures. The staff are always friendly, caring and polite. There are daily activities that are imaginative and

The care provided went far beyond what one would expect of a care home. The staff were not just friendly, they showed a genuine concern for the welfare of my terminally ill sister. Though not a hospice, the care provided was excellent.

Sue Lanceley

Job Title: Home Manager

Originally from Cheshire, Sue moved to Wales in 1982 with her children. Sue is a Registered Nurse and started her career working within hospitals and as a District Nurse. Once her children were older, she returned to working as a Nurse within the private sector, where she worked her way up to a Registered Manager at a Nursing Home. She has remained within this sector as it is a role where she feels she can make a difference.


She has worked as a Registered Manager in England and Wales for the last 12 years in homes ranging from 24 to 80 beds. Sue is a Dementia Specialist Nurse, and has a level 5 in Leadership and Management, Level 4 in Advice and Guidance and Level 3 Diploma in Dementia. Sue also gained a gold award in Leadership and Management in the Care Forum Wales Awards.


She is committed and passionate about caring for and supporting everyone in her homes and providing an environment where staff can learn and flourish to be empathetic carers who put their residents' needs and wishes first. Sue's priority is ensuring that her residents are happy, well cared for and valued.

Job Title: Care Coordinator

I grew up in Ferryside, just 10 minutes down the road, and have always had a passion for caring for others. I originally wanted to train as a nurse, but found my calling working with the elderly, where I can make a real difference every day.


As Care Coordinator, my role is to oversee the health and well-being of our residents. I check on each resident daily, liaise with district nurses, arrange and accompany residents to appointments, and provide one-to-one support when needed. I also help with the organisation of home care, making sure everything runs smoothly.


What I enjoy most about my job is getting to know each resident personally – spending time with them, building relationships, and helping them feel truly at home. Working with the staff team feels like being part of a family, and together we create a warm, homely environment with beautiful views that everyone can enjoy.


I am currently completing my Level in Leadership and Management in Social Care, which is helping me to grow and develop in my role.


My goal is to ensure all our residents receive the very best support, feel happy, and know they are always well looked after.
