Job summary

Job Summary:

As a Care Assistant in a residential care home, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to elderly residents, including those with dementia or physical disabilities. You will assist with daily living activities, help maintain a safe and comfortable environment, and promote residents' independence, dignity, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal care including washing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.

  • Assist with mobility and transfers using appropriate equipment (e.g., hoists, wheelchairs).

  • Support residents with meals and hydration, including feeding where necessary.

  • Administer or assist with medication (if trained and authorised).

  • Engage residents in meaningful activities and social interaction.

  • Monitor and report changes in residents' health or behaviour to senior staff.

  • Maintain accurate care records and documentation.

  • Ensure care is delivered in line with individual care plans and home policies.

  • Comply with health and safety regulations, infection control, and safeguarding procedures.

  • Support residents’ emotional and psychological well-being.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and family members.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Requirements: Essential: Compassionate
  • patient
  • and respectful attitude. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Basic literacy and numeracy skills. Willingness to work shifts
  • including evenings
  • weekends
  • and holidays. Commitment to providing high-quality care. Desirable: Previous experience in a care setting (residential or domiciliary). NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or working towards). Training in moving and handling
  • first aid
  • safeguarding
  • or medication administration.
