Lead Compassionate, Innovative and Person-Centred Dementia Care Across Anchor – join us as Dementia Specialist!

We’re proud to be England’s largest not-for-profit provider of care and housing for older people. For residents living with dementia, every interaction, every environment and every supportive moment can change the way they feel, connect and experience the moments around them. Our goal is to ensure every person living with dementia feels safe, understood and truly cared for – every day.

That’s why we’re looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable Dementia Specialist to help shape and elevate dementia care across our homes. If you’re an experienced dementia practitioner with a passion for coaching, innovation and truly person-centred care, this is a role where your impact will make a difference.

What does it mean to be a Dementia Specialist at Anchor?

  • Champion Outstanding Person-Centred Dementia Care
You’ll work closely with our Home Managers, District Managers and care teams to bring our Dementia Care Strategy to life – ensuring every home delivers exceptional, compassionate and evidence-based dementia support.
  • Drive the Dementia Care Pathway Recognition Programme
Through hands-on assessments, coaching and practice observation, you’ll help homes progress through the recognition scheme, raising quality, consistency and confidence across the portfolio.
  • Support Teams Through Complex Situations
You’ll play a critical role in reviewing individual cases, identifying underlying causes, and helping colleagues apply supportive, relationship-centred approaches to reduce distress and enhance resident wellbeing.
  • Develop and Support Dementia Coaches across Anchor
You’ll nurture a community of dementia coaches – delivering workshops, masterclasses, mentoring and ongoing development to build a strong, skill based culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen Family Support and Awareness
From offering guidance to hosting dementia awareness sessions, you’ll help families feel informed, empowered and confident in the care their loved ones receive.
  • Analyse Data and Drive Meaningful Change
You’ll use trends in distressed communication, antipsychotic medication use, incidents and feedback to identify where support is needed – and work collaboratively to drive measurable improvements.

What you’ll need:

  • Proven experience as a dementia specialist, ideally within a complex or specialist care setting.
  • Strong knowledge of best practice in dementia care, including innovation and sector developments.
  • Understanding of CQC requirements, the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
  • Experienced in coaching, mentoring and developing colleagues.
  • Excellent communication, observation and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical ability and confidence when reviewing data and identifying trends.
  • IT literacy – with confidence in digital care systems (PCS & Camascope desirable but not essential)
