St Marys

from Andrew H (Son of Resident) published on 15 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
All the staff at St Mary's are excellent. My Mum has now been a resident for over 4 months and we are very pleased with the care she has received and is still receiving. The food is very good and varied. Mum especially enjoys the soup at supper. They have frequent activities, Mum especially likes the
flower arranging. The residents and family BBQs are another good time to enjoy and really well supported by staff and residents. The home is bright, clean and kept to a high standard. The laundry service is really quick and the cleaners are very kind and helpful. The entire team seems to work really well together. I have several friends who have had family and friends at St Mary's and we certainly recommend the home to our friends and family. It is a very nice place and one which we are pleased to have found for our Mum. We visit daily and are always pleased with how Mum is treated and cared for.

Eric Morecambe House

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
When I went to look around Eric Morecambe on behalf of my sister. I bumped into someone who had a relative there. They said it was outstanding and their relative was truly happy.
So this set the tone for me to get my sister in Eric Morecambe. Management are very professional and polite. The underlying
feeling for me, was the empathy for the clients.
But the most important thing of all is, that my sister is very happy here. She says: 'Everyone is very kind and supportive'. My sister has mobility issues and they are positive in trying to help her in increasing her mobility.
I am only happy if she is happy, so thank you to the staff at Eric Morecambe.

West Hall

from S C (Niece of Resident) published on 15 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My Aunt went into West Hall for 2 weeks of respite care, whilst my cousin went away.
She suffers from the mild stages of dementia and was assessed as needing to go into Maple Lodge to monitor her more closely at night.
Every member of staff I and my cousin came into contact with was friendly, personable
and engaging. They all seemed eager to please and listened to all of our requests regarding my Aunt. Many of the staff have worked there for a long time.
The home is very light and airy and has a very cheery atmosphere. There seems to be a good morale between all of the staff and the residents. My Aunt's room had an en suite, was very clean and comfortable and let a lot of light in.
There are daily activities, regular outings and a choice of eating areas to dine in.
We were able to organise an afternoon tea for one of her friends and we joined in the quiz night. The home also allowed Holy Communion to be brought in for my Aunt which was very important to her and very much appreciated.

Priors Hall

Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Nana came to stay at Priors Hall whilst my parents went on holiday, it gave them great peace of mind knowing she was being well looked after whilst they were away.
Her room was immaculate, spacious and had everything she needed. There was lots of variety of food with choices at meal times.
The team
were kind, attentive and hard working, nothing was too much trouble.
Lots of great activities planned throughout the day for Nana to get involved with, she made some new friends with the other resident's.
Nana is looking forward to her next stay!
I highly recommend Priors Hall Care Home, the manager and the team do an amazing job for all their residents.

Park Hall

from Vance H (Son of Resident) published on 15 September 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
During the five years that our Mum was at Park Hall she was treated with respect and encouraged to be as active as possible within the constraints of a devastating dementia diagnosis. I was always made welcome by all the staff when visiting my Mum and this enabled me to spend many hours of quality time
with her. Whilst they are not a nursing care provider they have experience in providing end of life care with training led by the home manager. Their commitment to taking care of our Mum was nothing short of exceptional. During her final days we were able to be with our mother day and night (even with our dog Pippa) without any objections. I was so impressed particularly with the home manager who went above and beyond. Thank you for everything during our sad loss.

My wife has been in Palmersdene since July 2023. She has settled in well and is happy in herself. She is well cared for. The staff are all very friendly. Her room is always clean. The food is varied. I cannot fault Palmersdene Care Home. They have a great team looking after all the residents. I go to
see my wife at the care home, knowing when I go home she is safe and well looked after.

I spent two weeks in respite care after a replacement hip operation. Everything impressed me in Devonshire House. The room, the beautiful garden and conservatory, the wide areas for eating and relaxing. Most of all however was the wonderful attention of the extremely caring staff, so kind and nothing
seemed to be too much trouble. It really felt like home from home. I am very grateful.

My sister has been in Millfield for 17 months and so pleased we picked Millfield. The first few weeks I was heartbroke, but now I smile when leaving her. The staff are wonderful and very helpful if we have to ask details. The food is amazing and I can say my wife eats everything. I love all the entertainment
for the residents and all the hard work they put in to it.
Thank you staff at Millfield.

All I can say is from day one Mum has received top class care from all the shifts, I know that the girls have a lot on every day on the Magpie unit at Widnes Hall. They are all so caring and patient with everyone. We only have to ask for anything, and it's not a problem; they do everything. I have always
said it's a vocation and not just a job, and they all go the extra mile.

Montrose Hall

Inside is clean & well cared for, really nice caring staff that interact well with the residents. Rooms have a TV, and a small fan. The corridors have fun themes to them.
Personal Items do wander due to residents' dementia, so mark all your stuff clearly! Take a picture of any glasses :)
Nice gardens,
although we didn't go out during visits, was nice to look out of the window to see them.
Cons:
Would highly recommend classical, or golden oldies era music over modern day music played during the day, especially as that has been shown to help dementia patients, was mostly present-day radio. I was present when an hour of oldies (1950 - 1970's) was on and the residents began humming along, some even singing lyrics but many of the people who looked lost in their own world became more animated.
Some air freshener for the corridors, as they have a bit of a weird chemical smell.
Needs info on how to get in on weekends, as it's not clear.
Reply from Hannah Prescott, Manager at Montrose Hall

Thank you for taking the time to review Montrose Hall and we're pleased you rate our care/ support as excellent. We appreciate your kind comments regarding our team and our home, which I will pass on. We play different types of music throughout Montrose Hall to suit our residents' different preferences. We tend to have older songs playing in the corridors and, at times, the music in the lounges may change to different types and eras. I will discuss current music being played in our staff meeting this week. We have a sign displayed in the front window which advises visitors on how to access the building. This includes our phone number if people are not getting a timely response during our busier times and we'll ensure that this sign remains visible. We have air fresheners in our corridors. A recent infection control visit confirmed they are very happy with Montrose Hall's standards of hygiene. I'm happy to discuss all aspects of our care at a mutually convenient time.

We have had several meetings with the manager along with the Safeguarding team at local council. You state matters were fully investigated but your lack of transparency is apparent. Beechfield lodge has been reported to the CQC following the safeguarding meeting. Statement were referred to but were
not the same as the statements provided by your legal and governance team. You didn't investigate mum being locked in her room because at the meeting you confirmed that you were unaware your staff were locking mum in. You state matters were fully investigated In relation to your failure to provide adequate personal care I have an email from management confirming you and your team had failed ( following your investigation) admitting you had failed mum.in fact without our own investigation and subsequent meeting residents (including mum) would have missed vital medication. We can corroborate all our dealings with Beechfield.

My husband received a warm welcome for his two week respite stay. I was also received warmly and was impressed by the professionalism of the staff in taking my information and in giving me the information I needed to feel he would be safe and well cared for. Greenacres was beautifully furnished and
he had a clean and attractive room with a large bathroom. I was very happy that he would receive such professional, kind care in my absence.

From first contact with Canterbury House, Faversham I have been impressed with the professionalism of staff and the facilities. My mother has been met with respect and empathy and this has really helped her settle in. She has some specific needs and these have been met. We have met with team leaders,
both chefs and noting we have needed has been an issue. Mum is always the focus and the staff always address her rather than me so she is included and can be part of any situation considered. I have heard good things and this home & staff live up to the feedback. Very impressed nothing is too much trouble.
