Mum has been a resident at millfield since November 2021. The care towards mum and the support towards us has always been outstanding from day one. Unfortunately mum had a 6 week spell in hospital due to her mental health, Alzheimer's and falls in July, it was touch and go as to whether she would be
able to go back home as she was so poorly but millfield did everything they could to get her back safely and with a proper support package in place, since she has been back she has started talking again, walking, eating and drinking, ( which she had not done for 6 weeks) this is all down to the hard work, commitment, dedication, continuity of care love, professionalism and kindness from each and every member of staff that work at millfield. I would like to say a huge thank you not just from me but from my mum and all the family. Anchor homes should be extremely proud of all the staff working at millfield.

Mum has now been a resident at Millfield for a year and it is so comforting to continue to see the same first class support and care and cleanliness.
Absolutely excellent, with a will to provide care with dignity and encourage a social community with varied activities and celebration events.
Everyone
has a welcoming smile whenever I visit and it is clear that they are up to speed with the needs to support my mother plus providing regular feedback to any questions I have.
Thank you all at Millfield as I really do not know what I would do without your support.

The staff are always welcoming and work tirelessly. They treat Mum with dignity and with a personal touch and a friendly manner.
Nothing seems too much trouble and on the very odd occasion when I have a concern or a question regarding care, it is promply acted upon. The home also contact me and keep
me informed should they have concerns or updates on her care. I find on my visits the home is always clean and odourless (other than pleasant smells).

Communication poor. Residents' needs not met. Home said couldn't meet them ie hygiene, nutrition, elimination (this is not a nursing need). Staff frequently sat at a table on their phones - not professional. Relative sat in chair at 11:45 am, covered in scrambled egg (staff knew she couldn't feed herself).
No communication from management re terminating. After a hospital stay measures not put back in place to lessen number of falls. (We accepted that she would fall and never blamed anyone). Received a letter stating we hadn't paid May fees (we had). It appeared we had been refunded too much but no one seemd to accept that initially). Totally unprofessional.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We take matters relating to our residents' health and wellbeing very seriously. If we are no longer able to meet a resident's care needs, we collaborate closely with their loved ones and medical professionals to discuss it further to identify a more suitable home. Since my mum moved into Montrose Hall she has improved greatly. Mum fell and broke her hip and required support to start walking again. The staff at Montrose Hall have been amazinf and have gone above and beyond for my mum and us as a family. Mum is now walking! Mum feels safe and is very happy. We
as a family are extremely grateful for all the support we have received from all the staff and the management team. Montrose Hall has lots of activities for Mum to get involved in and Mum has even been recognised for her veteran status.

Mum has just finished 2 weeks of respite care at Millfield. Ann was friendly and professional from the start of our engagement, arranging everything. Mum moved in seamlessly and was given a great room with a nice view. She was introduced to other people in the home, so she could socialize with them.
There were various activities arranged, including singing. Whenever I spoke to mum she kept talking about how nice the food was. It was a great stay for her and I am sure mum will be going again, if they will let her.

Mum initially joined Millfield Care Home for respite for a short while after her health deteriorated whilst living alone, this was an enormous relief for me and my siblings as our efforts to look after mum in her own surroundings became overwhelming and impossible to continue, as we constantly worried
about mum's care 24 hours a day.
From the very 1st enquiry to this day we cannot thank the care and administration staff enough at Millfield Care Home. They're all extremely friendly and professional showing loving care. A great example was when mum made her own mind-up to become a full time resident, she told one of the care staff who bent down to mums height and gave a her a proper loving hug and a kiss on the cheek and mum beamed with a great smile.
Mum's told all of her family that she "like's it here and that they really do look after me", we are so relieved knowing that she's in good hands and interacting with other residents which has also lifted her mental wellbeing.

I have been really impressed with Millfield. It's such a huge step for anyone to go into supported living but Mum settled in well. The staff are caring, know their residents well and are attentive to their individual needs, even down to who they like to sit with at mealtimes. They also know relatives
and are very welcoming.
I am only able to visit infrequently but I am kept informed through the monthly newsletter, pictures and occasional emails.
It was a particular pleasure to see how the team helped Mum celebrate her 95th birthday recently. They put in a lot of effort to make residents feel special particularly on their birthdays with cake and gifts. Mum was thoroughly enjoying herself dancing to Frank Sinatra sung by a live entertainer. Other special occasions are also regularly celebrated and clearly enjoyed. Well done all.

My sister has been in Millfield for 17 months and so pleased we picked Millfield. The first few weeks I was heartbroke, but now I smile when leaving her. The staff are wonderful and very helpful if we have to ask details. The food is amazing and I can say my wife eats everything. I love all the entertainment
for the residents and all the hard work they put in to it.
Thank you staff at Millfield.

Inside is clean & well cared for, really nice caring staff that interact well with the residents. Rooms have a TV, and a small fan. The corridors have fun themes to them.
Personal Items do wander due to residents' dementia, so mark all your stuff clearly! Take a picture of any glasses :)
Nice gardens,
although we didn't go out during visits, was nice to look out of the window to see them.
Cons:
Would highly recommend classical, or golden oldies era music over modern day music played during the day, especially as that has been shown to help dementia patients, was mostly present-day radio. I was present when an hour of oldies (1950 - 1970's) was on and the residents began humming along, some even singing lyrics but many of the people who looked lost in their own world became more animated.
Some air freshener for the corridors, as they have a bit of a weird chemical smell.
Needs info on how to get in on weekends, as it's not clear.
Reply from Hannah Prescott, Manager at Montrose Hall

Thank you for taking the time to review Montrose Hall and we're pleased you rate our care/ support as excellent. We appreciate your kind comments regarding our team and our home, which I will pass on. We play different types of music throughout Montrose Hall to suit our residents' different preferences. We tend to have older songs playing in the corridors and, at times, the music in the lounges may change to different types and eras. I will discuss current music being played in our staff meeting this week. We have a sign displayed in the front window which advises visitors on how to access the building. This includes our phone number if people are not getting a timely response during our busier times and we'll ensure that this sign remains visible. We have air fresheners in our corridors. A recent infection control visit confirmed they are very happy with Montrose Hall's standards of hygiene. I'm happy to discuss all aspects of our care at a mutually convenient time.

We have had several meetings with the manager along with the Safeguarding team at local council. You state matters were fully investigated but your lack of transparency is apparent. Beechfield lodge has been reported to the CQC following the safeguarding meeting. Statement were referred to but were
not the same as the statements provided by your legal and governance team. You didn't investigate mum being locked in her room because at the meeting you confirmed that you were unaware your staff were locking mum in. You state matters were fully investigated In relation to your failure to provide adequate personal care I have an email from management confirming you and your team had failed ( following your investigation) admitting you had failed mum.in fact without our own investigation and subsequent meeting residents (including mum) would have missed vital medication. We can corroborate all our dealings with Beechfield.

Mum was a resident at Beechfield for approx 3 years. We have recently had to remove her due to ongoing issues with her care, culminating in her breaking her hip and being made to stand on it, because a staff member gave an incorrect account of how she had ended up on the floor. We still don't know
how she fell. She was not a falls risk. She needed surgery and now needs support to walk after 3 months in hospital.
Previously, after a year there her dentist felt her teeth hadn't been brushed since being a resident. Due to this we formally requested her care records. Through these we learned she had missed many doses of her daily medication. One month half the doses were missed. Records indicated she sometimes went weeks without a shower. They did start to share care records with us, so we felt better but recently, my sister discovered on an evening visit (6pm) that mum was locked in her room all night, every night to avoid another resident entering her room! Avoid
