As a family, we were apprehensive about our Mothers transition into a care home -

We couldn't be further from the truth now.

Mother is being looked after brilliantly and has a great relationship with the staff members.

They've really taken to her cheeky character.

Thank you, Trinity Lodge

We sadly lost our beautiful nan recently, after she spent 9 months living in Godiva Lodge. Those months were some of the happiest of her life, even while living with dementia. From the very first day, the staff didn't just care for Nan - they loved her. They treated her with kindness, patience and dignity,
and they gave her so much joy. She wasn't always easy, but they embraced her for who she was and built the most special relationships with her. They also cared for us as her family, wrapping us in support and making us feel part of their family too. The events and special days they organised gave us precious time and memories with Nan that we will carry in our hearts forever. No words will ever be enough to thank them. The love, compassion and respect they show their residents is extraordinary, and we will be forever grateful to everyone at Godiva Lodge for the way they loved and cared for our Nan. Thank you.

My mother lived in Bloomfield House for about 18 months before she died in May 2025, she was 93 years old and suffering from dementia.
The staff at the home were exceptionally kind and understanding. They knew all the residents personally and knew their likes and dislikes.
My mom had lived with me
for a time before we thought it necessary to go into a home with specialist care. I personally could not cope with her mood swings and escape attempts. We visited several homes before choosing Bloomfield and we were all very pleased with the outcome. She settled in very well, enjoyed the food and joined in the activities.
We never felt concerned about her safety or wellbeing while she was there and when she died the staff were so considerate and kind. Even at the funeral one of the caseworkers came in his own time, which I thought was so lovely.

All of the staff - carers, office staff, catering, maintenance... always have a smile for the residents. It is lovely to see that my dad always has a smile for the staff too - a sign that he feels happy, comfortable and safe.
Recently, my parents celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and the staff
went above and beyond to make this a special occasion for them both and our family. It meant so much to my mum to be able to celebrate this with my dad in surroundings where he felt comfortable and at ease. Thank you so much

My Dad had been a resident for over 4 years. The staff loved and cared for my dad during the advancement of his dementia and then his care when he was diagnosed with advance lung cancer in May 2025.
They get everything in place for dad that he needed so he had a peaceful, comfortable and dignified
passing in August 2025.
My brother and I can not thank the staff for their care.

The family can't thank bloomfield court enough for the support and help for my nan, within a few days of being here my nan is eating, laughing, sleeping and clean. We can approach any member of staff at anytime and nothing is to much bother. The staff on reception are exceptional when the family have
had any questions or needs. My nan is also getting her dignity back also making friends.

My father has been a resident since April 2024 and in this time he has received the care we believe was required for his Alzheimer's. The staff are all great with all the residents not just my father and are happy to help and we feel can be trusted to meet my father's needs. As his condition has slowly
worsened it has been almost impossible to take him out of the home, so as it was my parents 60th wedding anniversary at the end of August we had asked if it would be possible to hold a small family gathering to mark the occasion. The management happily facilitated this without hesitation, providing a private area for the occasion, some decorations, some refreshments and a member of staff popping in at regular intervals to make sure everything was ok. This was topped off by the staff presenting my mother with a lovely bouquet of flowers to mark the occasion, which I know she found lovely and very thoughtful. I would 100% recommend Bloomfield Court.

My mother in law has been a resident for 3 years. From day 1 she has been shown respect and love. Her dementia that may have caused extra difficulties were not too much trouble for staff. They never walked passed her without holding her hand or similar actions. As a family, we always felt she was in
a safe friendly home and would not need for anything. Any health issues ere dealt with promptly and family informed. I thank Kerria for their care and dedication.

Everyone treated myself, mom and my sister like part of the family. We were all treated with nothing but warmth and caring. Staff were all exemplary in their treatment of mom from Oct 24 to July 25. On the day mom passed all members of staff came to pay their respects. The staff from manager to carers,
cleaners and cooks were all very professional yet having great empathy and affection for us as a family. They have all left a loving impression with us and keep them in our hearts. You should be so proud of all who are employed at Bloomfield Court.

We really couldn't have chosen a

My Great grandmother has been in this care home for a few months now and she has settled in so so well. This says a lot about the compassion and care she receives from the staff as she struggled to settle in her last care home. Every single member of staff is lovely and I could not praise them more;
my nan used to ask when she can come home, now she says she doesn't want to come which is a testament to this home! I genuinely could not ask for a better group of people to care for her and I am so grateful she got put into this place!

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
As soon as my sister and I stepped into Maple Dene in order to view it, we looked at each other and said, almost in tandem, "this is really nice." It felt bright, cheery and friendly. As we looked around we both thought that it was the best care home we'd ever visited and this opinion only got stronger
over the 11 months my husband, struggling with dementia, spent there.

Every member of staff was kind, caring, patient and compassionate. It was gratifying to see how they really treated my husband as an individual, adapting things to best suit his needs. He was always treated with respect but they made things fun for him too.

Sadly, in the last few months his mental and physical health deteriorated, but I was very grateful that he was able to stay at Maple Dene right to the end. His final day was a beautiful, peaceful one for us both. The staff were extremely gentle in looking after him in his final hours and so kind to us both.

Godiva Lodge

from S F (Sister-in-law of Resident) published on 14 July 2025
Submitted via Postal Card • Report
Overall Experience 2.0 out of 5
My brother in law was admitted to Godiva Lodge during his stay there were a number of issues.
1. Poor communication - there were incidents that were not reported to us. His wife had called (by phone) to speak with the manager on a number of occasions and call back never happened.
2. My sister in
law had to shower her husband on at least 2 occasions as he was unshaved and smelt.
3. He had infected cellulitis which resulted in a hospital admission (poorly managed).
4. He lost weight but there was no discussion regarding this.
5. Often when we visited he was wandering aimlessly and distressed. When we meet with the mental health nurse and a team leader the information required to discuss issues related to his behaviour was poorly recorded and the incident could not be adequately explained.
6. He was admitted to hospital, the hospital said he would be discharged and the home refused to have him back. We appreciate that this may not have been a suitable placement, however, there was no communication from the manager to inform the family of the next process.
7. We were told his bed would be held for 6 weeks while he was reassessed, this was not the case - the service did not contact the family to say his personal effects were being removed from the room. We are disappointed and this caused severe distress that could have been avoided.
