Review of Millbeck from Edward S (Friend of Resident) published on 20 August 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My friend lives at Millbeck Care Home and receives excellent care. He really enjoys gardening and growing his own vegetables, which gives him a wonderful sense of purpose and independence. The staff are fabulous - kind, supportive, and always encouraging residents to take part in activities they enjoy. The care home is continuously ongoing with projects of improvements the latest project of the garden make over is magnificent i believe the care home were support by a local college who wanted to show there appreciation to millbeck care home on supporting there student on placement to develop health and social care skills & knowledge, I always feel a sense of warmth when visiting my friend I would highly recommend Millbeck care home.

From the first look round staff were warm and welcoming Mum was initially booked for 2 weeks respite following our visit. She was naturally apprehensive but her being there was always her decision + we respected that. Though Mum's emotions were a rollercoaster the staff were understanding and supportive. Since respite Mum has made the decision to be a permanent resident and with staff support is settling well into her new home.

Wynyard Wood is such a beautiful home, and the staff and management team are excellent. My mother-in-law has settled in really well. She enjoys participating in the activities. It's the best place to meet her current needs. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who needs care. Again, a massive thank you to all the staff working in the home.

Mum has come for respite care. She has been treated with kindness, dignity and empathy.

Staff are happy to help and repeatedly explain that it doesn't matter how many times you need assistance; they are happy to help. Staff appear cheerful and respectful.

Review of Millbeck from N P (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 June 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My mother was in Millbeck for 18 months after the death of my father (both in mid 90s). My mother was not suited in any way to care home life. She wasn't sociable and didn't want anyone else's company. She was quite fussy with food, so the majority of the time she didn't want to be at Millbeck, and at times could let staff know this and was on occasions difficult. Staff went out of their way to accommodate her into the life of the home and try to make her final months as best and comfortable as they properly could. They were very patient, understanding and supportive. I would recommend this home unreservedly.

Review of Millbeck from J P (Daughter of Resident) published on 12 May 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mother spent eight months living at Millbeck and I bitterly regret that she spent even one day there. My mother was neglected and treated with disdain by the staff. They made no effort to get to know her or to understand how she was affected by dementia. She fell ill due to neglect and was admitted to hosptial who confirmed she had experienced malnutrition and neglect at Millbeck.
My mother has now moved to a new care home where she has made a good physical recovery and is enjoying life again. She is more active and enjoys interacting with the carers at the new home. They enjoy her company and comment on how pleased they are that she has come to their home.

Millbeck clearly was not a good fit for my mum. If I was considering a home for a loved one, I would not take a risk on Millbeck as they clearly are not trained or experienced in dealing with people with dementia.

Review of Wynyard Woods from J D (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 May 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Dad moved into Wynyard Woods after a decline in his dementia, following a hospital stay and period of assessment. From the start of the admission process to his settling in, he and the family have been treated with the utmost aspect, and for the first time I felt that we as a family had a voice and could advocate for him. Wynyard Woods really listened to us and ask about him as an understatement. They are amazing kind caring and supportive.

An outstanding care home that has looked after both of my grandparents for over 10 years, both of whom had dementia. The staff always went above and beyond and genuinely care a lot for their residents.

From the first visit everyone was welcoming and friendly. The home itself is immaculate at all times. Staff are amazing with my mother in law and all residents I've witnessed them caring for. Anna the manager can't be more approachable and feels like one of the family. Ali is also lovely and very helpful always ready to listen and help where she can.

I just want to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Wynyard Woods. My mother became a resident there in January 2026. I've been so impressed by the passion and commitment Kath and Donna of the management team have to ensure the care team delivers first-class, individual, holistic care to their residents. All the staff are lovely, friendly and caring, which has really helped my mother to settle well. It's fantastic just how many beautifully furnished lounges there are to spend time with my mother in. My mother's own room is always clean and homely. Food choices are excellent. Would definitely recommend it to anybody else exploring care home options.
