I visited St Edith's recently with my mum visiting her friend. I was quite surprised just how lovely and welcoming the staff were. The premises itself was kept so nicely and the residents all appeared very happy. Whilst there, I observed the lovely way the staff interacted with the residents. Even my
mum commented on how well and happy her friend appeared.

I went to look at St Edith's Court with a view of a family member being a resident.
I was welcomed in a warm and professional manner by senior staff, who were very informative and understanding who has much knowledge of the care system.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
The premises were clean and fresh
smelling.
Residents looked happy and well looked after.
The grounds were kept emaculately.
Thankyou for your time.

From the moment my mother arrived at the care home for a couple of weeks respite care, it was one thing after another that went wrong. Day one; her bedroom door wasn't able to stay open, so a handyman came and sorted it out over a couple of days, which meant drilling and banging. There was no TV in
her room and it was very difficult to connect a virtual assistant device to the Wi-Fi (my mother relies on audio books as she is registered blind). Eventually day 2, I eventually managed it with the help of the manager. Whenever a meal came to her, more often than not, it was warm. The hot drinks were also lukewarm. Her cornflakes came for breakfast, like baby food. All soft and soggy and the toast cold. Mum was given a pendant to put around her neck, so she could press it when needed, which she did quite a few times, however, either no one came (even after 20mins) or it didn't work at all!! A lot of mum's clothes went missing.
There are other issues, but not enough room to write them all up on here!!!!
Reply from Emilia Prosniewska, Manager at Blackbrook HouseThank you for taking the time to review Blackbrook House. We're sorry to see your feedback, where we work hard to provide the best care for each of our residents, with wellbeing and safety at the heart of what we do. A small repair was needed to the bedroom door during Mum's stay, where alternative accommodation was offered whilst this was undertaken. We were pleased to assist in connecting the virtual assistant device when we were aware there was an issue and happy to support with a TV. We discussed food with Mum and myself and members of our team regularly checked in with Mum during her stay to ensure she was comfortable, settled and happy. In addition to pendant alarms, we have a call system throughout Blackbrook House for residents to use for assistance. Following use of our clothing name buttons being declined, we were pleased to launder and return all clothing. We're always happy to discuss all aspects of day-to-day life at Blackbrook House.

My Grandmother lives in this lovely care home and is looked after, with the upmost care and dignity. The staff are very caring and are fabulous at providing activities for all to partake in, if they so wish. The home is warm and friendly, and the garden is immaculate and such a beautiful area for all
residents to enjoy.
Everyone truly cares, and willing to support in every way.

I visited a friend last week the home as always was spotless and smelt lovely and fresh. Staff are always friendly and caring and I am always welcomed with a smile and a chat which is so nice. My friend was in the garden having a cup of tea and biscuits with some other residents and I was made a coffee
and we all sat and chatted. The home manager popped in the garden to see us all I must say she is always approachable caring and the residents think the same. The garden is well maintained and I look forward to many more visits during the summer time.

After three months I feel that Mum is safe and well cared for. All the staff are friendly, approachable and helpful. Mum has the same feeling about the staff. The accommodation is in good order and Mum has a cosy and comfortable room. After a major change from independent living I think Mum is settled
and basically happy. I would recommend the home to anyone. The staff make it a good home to live in.

The staff are very friendly and kind and try their best to look after my mother. Unfortunately, she is becoming very frail and does need more attention because she is unable to help herself.
Her frustration does turn into negativity, but given her disabilities, this is not surprising.

My Auntie has been a resident in Blackbrook House for over two years. I am so impressed with the care she is given-it's like she is surrounded by family. From the moment you walk through the door you are greeted with a smile and the people (I won't use the word staff) are so warm and friendly. I already
class them as friends. The activities they provide are amazing and it's a pleasure to join in.
Blackbrooke House is a benchmark for other care homes so thank you to everyone.

All the staff are lovely and cant do enough for the residents. They have a range of activities that residents can take part in, should they wish. When interacting with my grandmother they are kind and thoughtful. Nothing is too much trouble. When we arrive they are always happy to update us. The staff
treat all their residents with dignity. It is clear that the staff enjoy their work and care for those who are with them.

Blackbrook House. The care my friend receives from all of the staff, this includes every single person who works there, is exemplary. She has always been a very social person, and it is still in her, even though she has problems with her memory. The staff are always smiling and extremely helpful
if needed. They include her in the activities, she sometimes is not sure if she want to go, then she loves joining in.

My mum moved into Blackbrook December 2025. She'd been struggling for some time, especially since my dad died, and was having increasing problems with her memory. She couldn't cope at home any longer. Within 2 weeks of moving into Blackbrook, she was a different person - happy, relaxed, content and
making friends. Emily and her team have been amazing! They are the loveliest, most caring team I could have wished for. They treat the residents like family, with kindness and smiles, helping my mum and others to feel 'at home', safe, and cared for. Nothing is too much for the team. They make me feel welcome and reassured every time I visit too. Blackbrook itself is incredibly clean, lovely lounges, bright & fresh. The outside courtyard is beautiful. My mum's room is lovely. We have been able to put pictures up & decorate with personal items too. Thank you again to Emily the Team Leader, for your amazing energy, and your experience enabling my mum to feel like Blackbrook is her 'home' :-)

My mother wanted to go to respite when she left hospital, so my husband and I looked at several establishments before settling on Blackbrook House. When we arrived having arranged to view, from the moment we walked through the front door the atmosphere was that of relaxed efficiency . The building is
bright and airy, the colour scheme restful. We were shown round by Joanne, viewing the available rooms. The more we saw the more it became clear that Blackbrook House was the one. Decision made. my mother moved in a few days later. She is 98 years old still living independently before admission to hospital. She has settled in well, due in large part to the efficiency and friendliness of all the staff. We feel that she now feels, Blackbrook House to be 'home' and we hope that she will decide that this environment is one she likes and that she will decide to become a permanent resident, a decision we would fully support.
We recommend Blackbrook House to anyone seeking care for a loved one.
