Sandholme Fold

from Sara T (Wife of Resident) published on 26 March 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My husband became a resident of Sandholme Fold Care Home, Hipperholme, Halifax in early 2026. He has settled in well, enjoys being there and is happy and contented. I have also been well supported during a time of great emotional upheaval. The staff are kind, conscientious, friendly and welcoming.
Activities are varied, there's always something going on and its usually accompanied by lots of laughter. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit at any time within reasonable guidelines.
The home itself is clean, warm and comfortable and I am very grateful that there was availability when I needed it. I have no hesitation in recommending this Care Home.

The Manor House Roundhay Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My father moved into the Manor at the beginning of January after much trepidation and a lot of soul searching. It has worked out better than we could ever have imagined. We have been delighted with the care and attention my dad has had and equally the welcome we have received as a family. From the
minute we walk in the door we are greeted with warm welcoming faces and in the bar there will usually be some event that has been organised , keeping the place lively
and the residents engaged with new experiences. Every member of staff has been kind and caring and we can ask for no more as we are helped to navigate a difficult time in our father's live.
Thank you, to you all.
Reply from Rebecca Higginson, Manager at The Manor House Roundhay Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review. We truly understand how difficult and emotional the decision can be when a loved one moves into a care home, and we're so pleased to hear that your father's experience at The Manor has exceeded your expectations.

It means a great deal to us that both your father and your family have felt welcomed and supported from the very beginning. Creating a warm, friendly environment where residents feel engaged and at home is at the heart of what we do, so it's wonderful to know that the activities and daily atmosphere have made a positive difference.

Your kind words about our team are especially appreciated. We are very proud of our staff, and it's reassuring to hear that their care, compassion, and support have helped you navigate what can be a challenging time.

Thank you again for your trust and for sharing your experience-it truly means a lot to all of us.

Dad felt chest pains at 10.30am on Saturday. Typically stubborn as his generation are, he refused an ambulance. Mid-afternoon I got a call from Leigh explaining the situation & would I attend for my opinion. By the time I got there, she had convinced him to let her call an ambulance. Thankfully no heart
problems & released from hospital just after midnight. Had Leigh not done what she did, I wouldn't have slept that night. Massive thanks Leigh. X Also staff who welcomed him back that night. Nothing too much for them. 5 star service!!

Springfield

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum spent around 18 months at the care home. Dad visited at least 5 times a week and was treated like one of the residents too.
In the last 3 weeks of Mums life it felt like the staff stepped up a level and were amazing.
Dad visited daily and the rest of the family frequently and nothing was
too much trouble.
Making sure that we had food and drink and also allow us to talk or give us a hug if we needed one.
All the staff genuinely cared and loved Mum, we were all the same family.
Dad misses his visits and I'm sure they miss dad too. In fact Dad said if he ever found himself needing a care home he would happily go there.
What better testimony is that?
Thank you from all of us, we all think of Springfield with great fondness and gratitude.

Mum has, been in Springfield since November 2025. I cannot fault the care she has received. I feel so much less stressed now i know she has someone there 24/7 if needed. There always seems to be plenty of activity and residents have choice as to whether they join in. The staff are always on hand and
happy to help with any queries we may have.
The bedrooms are always clean and mum is encouraged to wear clean olothing and her personal hygiene has improved greatly.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Mum moved into Tolson Grange due to deteriorating Dementia. We have found the home to be nothing short of excellent. The staff in particular deserve praise as they are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Mum likes to keep herself to herself, but they always make an effort with her, and we can see she
is treated with care and respect. The home and mum's room feel warm, clean, comfortable and homely - she feels safe and secure, and views it as her home. The food is healthy, tasty and always with a choice. It was a major decision to move her into care, and it was a major decision (and eye opener) to find the right home for her, but we feel so pleased to have landed on Tolson Grange.

Mill View is providing a very comfortable, caring environment, well managed, with conscientious staff looking after my Mother who is a resident with Alzheimers/Dementia. The home is clean, bright, welcoming and well furnished. The kitchen provides excellent, freshly prepared, nourishing meals and baked
treats. Medical needs are promptly attended to and therapists encourage wellbeing. There is a programme of activities which residents are encouraged to participate in, together with birthday celebrations and fundraising efforts. Visitors are welcomed and are considered as part of the Mill View family. My Mother says she is comfy and content and her demeanour has improved since moving in 5 months ago.

Since mum moved into Simon Marks in November 2024 she has recovered so much since her falls at home and looks so much better.
Staff are always cheerful and kind.
Staff have resolved any issues we have had quickly.
Mum says that the food is good and lots of it, mum looks as if she has put weight on!
They
seem to be plenty of activities for the residents to participate in but are not forced to join in.
Whenever we visit the home is always bright, clean and warm.

Oulton Manor

from E R (Niece of Resident) published on 20 February 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
We chose Oulton Manor Care Home for my uncle following a fall, as he needed respite care to recuperate. What was meant to be a three-week stay was extended to six weeks because he settled in so well, which says a lot about the care provided.
staff were consistently friendly, kind, and attentive, and
management were visible.
On one occasion when my uncle didn't attend dinner, staff went to check on him and offered alternative food in his room, which showed genuine thoughtfulness.
The rooms were spacious, well appointed, and kept to a very high standard of cleanliness. Even when staff were busy, they always found time for residents.
Food was a major disappointment . It did not reflect the otherwise high standards of the home. The quality was poor, and my uncle, along with other residents are used to a better standard of food, He really struggled with it. This urgently needs addressing to bring it in line with the other facilities at Oulton manor.
Reply from Lisa Owens, Manager at Oulton ManorThank you for taking the time to review Oulton Manor and we are pleased you rate our care and support as excellent. Thank you for your kind comments regarding our team and environment, where we always aim to provide the best care experience. Our food is cooked freshly on site each day, respecting residents' preferences, dietary requirements and tastes. I will discuss your feedback with our catering team and we always welcome feedback on all aspects of day to day life at Oulton Manor.

I cannot praise the staff at Tolson Grange highly enough. They are a wonder team of dedicated and skilled people. My mum lived there for three and a half years, she passed away recently. The staff made her one of their own as soon as she arrived. They always treated her with dignity and she was safe
in their care. They became her family. It was a pleasure to visit, staff were always professional, there was laughter , banter and kind words. The home was always clean and welcoming, it looked cared for. The food looked great too, my mum definitely enjoyed her meals and snacks. The team made my mum's last years as good as they could be in the circumstances. That made me, my dad and brother feel safe too, knowing how well she was cared for. We feel so lucky that mum was able to stay there. A big thank you to the whole Tolson Team. You are stars.

Sometimes something unexpected happens, which leaves you with a smile on your face and a pleasant memory.
I was sitting in the garden last week. I thought I had missed breakfast, but could get a cup of tea. 10 minutes later, the front door opened... A lady from the 6th floor dining room came out and
walked over to me. "What would you like for breakfast?" she said she would take it to my room.
I enjoyed my breakfast and tea.
Sometimes the words 'over and above' are all you can say!
