I spent Christmas dinner with my mum at Halcyon Court. The staff were amazing and really took the time to ensure every resident was included. They did this with warmth, care and empathy.
The Christmas meal itself was delicious, fresh, tasty and had lots of choice.
Thank you for making my mum's first
Christmas here so special.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Food is generally good, occasionally bland.
Wheelchair users not self propelling reports significant and frequent.
Desk not manned all the time, especially on weekends.
Food service at mealtimes is excellent, with no waiting.
Accommodation is fine. I'm more than happy with my room.
It would be
a positive move to give each of the smokers the code for the front door. IT would alleviate the problem caused by the desk being unmanned, especially at weekends. Only a maximum of 6 would be involved.

She was always well looked after with staff who not only looked after her practical needs but would spend time with her. When her needs increased the staff were great at keeping her warm and clean and cared for, popping in to see her regularly. On her passing the home was very understanding. The staff
helped support me with kind words, hugs and cups of tea.Thank you.

Sandholme Fold

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My parents were resident here until they sadly passed away recently. Both reported huge improvements under the the new Manageress and her Deputy Manageress. There have been major improvement in the quality and cooking of the food. The new decor and several other tweaks have made the home very homely.
The staff are all very friendly and approachable. The activities and entertainment on offer are many and varied. There is a strong sense of community between residents and visitors alike. My parents were both adamant they wanted to remain at Sandholme and not go into hospital. They received first rate care and respect of their dignity right up to their sad passing. My family and I also received incredible support before, during and afterwards from every member of staff - many of whom were visibly moved and showing just how deeply they cared. As it became necessary the home liaised perfectly with the superb District Nurses and Palliative Care Nurses. Top marks all round Sandholme Fold.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
We have had to make a very difficult decision has a family to move our mum into a care facility, the amount of worry this has caused us was unbelievable. Fortunately for us, after viewing other care facilities, Mill View was highly recommend to us. We were invited down to Mill View to have a look round,
we were made very welcome by the management and staff team. Due to me working in the Health and Social care sector for 40 years, I instantly knew that this was the right place for our mother has soon as I walked through the door. Mum has since moved in and has settled extremely well, I would like to compliment all the staff at Mill View on their outstanding care and empathy that they have shown towards my mum. There is always lots of staff presence who interact superbly with all the residents, I also witnessed whilst on a visit that all request from the residents were acted upon in a very timely manner. The home is like a home from home. Mum loves it, which gives us peace of mind.

Mum has been a resident here for just over a year and has settled in really well. The staff are fantastic, from the manager down to the carers who are very friendly and approachable. Mum is really well looked after, kept warm and clean, she has always been very proud of her appearance which has continued
with regular hair and chiropody appointments etc. There are plenty of activities which residents can join if they wish. All enquiries are dealt with immediately. If you need help or advice, you just have to ask. I have no concerns at all and would recommend Halcyon to anyone looking for a comfortable, safe and well-run home for their family.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My parents stayed at this care home, and although they have both recent passed away, I feel it's important to share just how exceptional the care was during their time there. Under the new management, the home has transformed in so many positive ways.
The residents truly enjoy the entertainment and
activities, which bring joy and a sense of community. The staff are warm, caring, and consistently attentive - qualities that made a huge difference to my parents' comfort and wellbeing.
The food improved enormously, with better quality and variety, and the refreshed décor has made the whole home feel brighter and more inviting.
What stands out most of all, though, is the compassion shown in their final days. My parents' wish was to stay in the care home and not go to hospital for end-of-life care. The team honoured this completely. They worked closely with district nurses and palliative care services to ensure my parents were comfortable and treated with dignity every step of the way.

My Dad was in Oak Tree Lodge for over a year. He was so well looked after it was unbelievable. My mum went and spent everyday up there with him and loved each and everyone of the carers. He later died in there and they couldn't do enough for us, Mum later stayed there for 2 weeks and loved it that much
she didn't want to come home so is now staying for another week. If it comes to it that I had to go in a home, Oak Tree Lodge is the only place I would want to stay.

I have spent over 10 years at Larchfield care home. The management at time said to me, "we wish your stay with us is made as happy as possible". Apart from the covid debacle this year has been by far been the happiest. I take an active interest in the gardens. If they are happy so am I. It was full
of flowers this year and next year will be better with a few experiments! All done on a shoestring budget which is half the challenge.

This care home is exceptional. My mum has been there 4 years now & the standard of care & the 'family' feel to this care home when you walk in is amazing. Yes they could do wtih more staff (like all other care homes) & obviously would appreciate more money to be able to do the things they want to do.
The manager, teams, carers, staff & cleaners are 'family' & care not only for the residents but their families as well. Amazing!

I cannot thank Claire and all the team at the Manor House enough for the loving care and support given to our mum. It was a difficult decision to move mum into a care home, but she could no longer stay at home after a bad fall. Mum is soo well looked after by all at the Manor House, and she has settled
in really well. The home is beautiful and all the facilities are exceptional. The team put soo much care and effort into including all residents in their activities and events. We have enjoyed many events at the Manor House, including their Summer fair, the Paws and Applause Dog Show, the Gatsby event and this weekend, their Xmas party. They do soo much to keep mum and all the residents entertained. Mum has dementia and it's not easy to communicate with her, but the care given to mum is outstanding. It's alway a pleasure to visit, keep doing what you're doing guys. Thank you soo much.

It's always a pleasure to visit my mother-in-law at the Manor House. All the management and staff are soo welcoming and you are made to feel at home. It's been lovely to see her settle in really well, as we were concerned she wouldn't, suffering from dementia. The home and rooms are beautifully designed
and spacious. The care given at the Manor House is second to none. Our whole family have been able to rest assured that she is receiving the best possible care. Thank you everyone at the Manor House.
Reply from Clare Erskine, Home Manager at The Manor House Roundhay Care HomeThank you so very much for your lovely review of our care home and we are so happy that you feel very welcome in our home. It is really important to us that everyone feels the home from home environment that we all try hard to achieve. We also understand how difficult it is for residents and their families when coming into a care home environment and the greatest compliment we can receive is when people feel reassured. Your mum in law is a lovely lady and has settled very quickly into her new home with us and is very much part of our Manor House family. Once again thank you so much for your beautiful review of our home and I will ensure to share with the home team.

Mum moved into Tolson Grange Care Home mid November 2025. All her family are delighted with how well she is being looked after and how well she has settled. Everyone who works there always has a smiling face for mum and all her visitors. The home is beautifully clean and there is always something
for mum to do which stimulates her. Mum loves all the entertainment. Before coming here mum was reluctant to eat but now she can't wait for mealtime. The home is looking great for Christmas.

A Big Thank You to all the staff at Tolson Grange

The care and commitment shown by staff at Primrose Court was really wonderful. They looked after Dad with kindness and compassion and were always ready to have a smile and a joke with him, which he enjoyed. We were always made welcome when visiting and staff always made time to discuss Dad's care with
us. We are very grateful to Primrose Court for making Dad's final days as comfortable and dignified as possible.
