My parents are in this amazing care home as a couple. They are loved and very well looked after. I also feel very well looked after whenever I visit. My mum had a recent admission to hospital and the love and support they both received was second to none. Thankyou sincerely
Reply from Clare Erskine, Home Manager at The Manor House Roundhay Care HomeThank you very much for your lovely review of our team's care and support of your wonderful mum and dad. They are indeed a great couple, and it is with the greatest pleasure that we are entrusted to care for them. They are very dear to us and like all our residents are our upmost priority. As mum and dad are so very close, we knew that having to spend time apart was going to so hard for them both. However, we were ready with lots of gentle loving care to support dad during this worrying time for him, keeping him reassured and giving lots of comfort. The day mum came back to us and seeing dad's reaction to her return was honestly one of the most heartfelt moments, it brought a tear to all our eyes. It is so wonderful having mum and dad live with us, as how special and fantastic to be part of their lives. Thank you so much for sharing your review and I will ensure that I pass this on to the whole team.

My husband did not want to go into respite care but agreed to try The Manor. We were concerned that it may be "sparkle without substance" but that's not the case. We saw many happy faces, residents and staff, on our visits and I realised it was my best chance of finding a carehome for my
husband. Within hours of his arrival, I felt sure he would be well looked after and may even enjoy the experience. 2 days later he had a "meltdown" becoming angry and shouting at staff. He was upset because he thought I wasn't going to take his dog to visit him. When the Floor Supervisor rang me at his insistence, I went straight there (15 minutes) and found him in his room holding the hand of the Supervisor and calmly talking about future stays which he looks forward to! It is true professionalism and honest caring on the part of everyone involved that he came out of that feeling positive. The staff are bright, supportive and kind and I thank them and look forward to more stays on 2nd floor soon.
Reply from Clare Erskine, Home Manager at The Manor House Roundhay Care HomeThank you so much for your fabulous review of our care home, as you say we do indeed have a beautiful environment for our residents, families, and friends to enjoy. However, our focus is very much on the care and support of the wonderful people who come and stay with us and ensuring their loved ones feel confident with our care too. Your husband is a lovely gentleman and from the day one, the home team gently reassured and he soon settled within a new home environment. We totally understand that moving away from home can be difficult adjustment and we are fully ready at these times to offer reassurance and support. Thank you so much for your special mention of our unit lead who offered comfort, as a team we pride ourselves in genuine warm care and kindness and your recognition of this is amazing. Once again thank you so very much for your outstanding review I will make sure I share this with the team.

I cannot thank Claire and all the team at the Manor House enough for the loving care and support given to our mum. It was a difficult decision to move mum into a care home, but she could no longer stay at home after a bad fall. Mum is soo well looked after by all at the Manor House, and she has settled
in really well. The home is beautiful and all the facilities are exceptional. The team put soo much care and effort into including all residents in their activities and events. We have enjoyed many events at the Manor House, including their Summer fair, the Paws and Applause Dog Show, the Gatsby event and this weekend, their Xmas party. They do soo much to keep mum and all the residents entertained. Mum has dementia and it's not easy to communicate with her, but the care given to mum is outstanding. It's alway a pleasure to visit, keep doing what you're doing guys. Thank you soo much.

We are so proud to have your lovely mum stay with us and to witness her settling in so well. We appreciate that moving into a new home can be unsettling but we are always here to walk hand in hand and ensure that everyone feels safe and very much cared about. Promoting everyone to be engaged and enjoying daily activities in accordance with personal wishes and preferences is a key priority for all the team. We do indeed have a very varied activity schedule along with some fantastic entertaining environments that lends itself so well to hosting the most magnificent and wonderful events that we have! Once gain we are so happy to receive your compliments and I will ensure to pass to the home team.

It's always a pleasure to visit my mother-in-law at the Manor House. All the management and staff are soo welcoming and you are made to feel at home. It's been lovely to see her settle in really well, as we were concerned she wouldn't, suffering from dementia. The home and rooms are beautifully designed
and spacious. The care given at the Manor House is second to none. Our whole family have been able to rest assured that she is receiving the best possible care. Thank you everyone at the Manor House.
Reply from Clare Erskine, Home Manager at The Manor House Roundhay Care HomeThank you so very much for your lovely review of our care home and we are so happy that you feel very welcome in our home. It is really important to us that everyone feels the home from home environment that we all try hard to achieve. We also understand how difficult it is for residents and their families when coming into a care home environment and the greatest compliment we can receive is when people feel reassured. Your mum in law is a lovely lady and has settled very quickly into her new home with us and is very much part of our Manor House family. Once again thank you so much for your beautiful review of our home and I will ensure to share with the home team.

My mum moved in to the Manor in March 2025.
It was a stressful move as my father passed away earlier in the year and mum needed immediate care.
When we initially visited the home, we were blown away by the design and decor, more like a luxury hotel than a care home, this definitely helped mum with
the idea of moving in.
She settled much more quickly than ever anticipated. The wide range of activities and social events have really helped her to be much more her old self. She loves getting involved with the quizzes and pottering in the beautiful garden.
What makes the Manor really special, is of course, the staff. They go out of their way to get to know all the residents and create special bonds. The care is exemplary - knowledgeable, warm and fun. Nothing is too much trouble.
Clare said to us, prior to moving in, that she wants the residents and families to feel it really is their home and it does. Thank you so much.
Reply from Clare Erskine, Home Manager at The Manor House Roundhay Care HomeWe would just like to extend or heartfelt thankyou for such a beautiful review of our care home and our exceptional staff team. Your mum is a delightful lady, and she has settled so well with us and it's fabulous to see her finding new friends and very much enjoying the wide range of daily activities on offer. As you rightly point out the staff are genuinely kind, caring and compassionate people who want to do their very best for everyone they care for. They understand that moving into a care home is a very personal journey and every resident is unique and its about really understanding what's important to them and helping them to feel happy in their home. The staff are always so proud when they receive lovely reviews like yours and it's a real testimony to how much they really care. Once again thank you so much for such a lovely review, I will share your comments with the whole team.

My friend moved into The Manor House in November 2024 when it first opened. We were impressed then and now a year later we are still impressed. The building and the individual rooms are really well maintained. Everything is as clean and tidy and beautiful as it was when it first opened. The impression
was and still is more of a 5 star hotel than a care home. The staff team has obviously increased in size as more residents have moved in through the year, but nearly all of the original members of staff are still there and that continuity reflects in the care that is provided as residents really are treated like family. No excuse for a party or a celebration is missed (especially ones that involve dressing up to the max!) and this is in addition to the regular programme of activities that you would expect to be available. If you need to move into a care home, The Manor House in Roundhay is the place to be.
Reply from Clare Erskine, Home Manager at The Manor House Roundhay Care HomePlease can I extend the biggest thank you for such a fabulous review of our care home, we do indeed have the pleasure of caring for our residents in the most luxurious surroundings. We are not sure where the year has gone! But we all still remain very proud of our amazing residents and our beautiful home, and as you rightly say our growing but fabulous team. We are very lucky to have such a committed and dedicated staff team who are so exceptionally kind and caring. The housekeeping team go above and beyond and share the same pride and passion for keeping the home looking beautiful and fresh each and every day. We know that we are here to make the best of memories and opening our doors wide to invite our families, friends and community to join in our fabulous events is such an honour and pleasure. We are now looking forward to year 2 and the making of more special memories. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and I will ensure to share with the staff team.

Nearly 6 months have now passed and sending my mother into a care home was a grim prospect for me and family. We all knew that this was the right decision for her and now having spent nearly 6 months we can only credit all the staff for their hard work, care and love they give to my mother. I know she
struggles with her condition ( Alzheimer's ) but i can rest in comfort knowing she is the right and best care that can be given for her. Well done The Manor House especially to Ahmad , Abigail , Sam , Sharma, Donna , Clare ( manager) and not forgetting the barista !! And all other staff that i have not mentioned. Great work guys
Reply from Clare Erskine, Home Manager at The Manor House Roundhay Care HomePlease may I express my delight at such a wonderful review of our home and staff. We know that families face difficult decisions when deciding to take the steps to support loved ones to move into a care home. Our dedicated team try hard to help our residents feel cared about and safe. Mum is a wonderful lady, our team have spent a lot of time with her and she has really settled well into her new home. We have the biggest giggles and laughs with mum as she is so engaging and is such fun to be around. It is with great pleasure we can say she is often very happy at The Manor House. It's wonderful to see her blossoming and really enjoying everything, making new friends and joining in the variety of activities. We are equally very happy that the family feel reassured that a move for mum to come to us was the right one. Once again, thank you for your review as we are really proud of our dementia care support and your review is testimony to that. I will share your comments with the team.

A few months ago we had the very difficult task of having to put mum into a care home. She's got dementia and her health declined after a fall. We made an appointment to view the home and we fell in love with it straight away. The Manor House is a beautiful place. Mum has a lovely spacious room. There's
a lovely cafe bar where residents and family and friends can socialise and other beautiful social spaces.
All the staff from management, catering staff, reception, carers and housekeeping are wonderful. They're all so kind and caring to mum.
Mum has settled in really well which was such a relief for us.
There's always a variety of activities going on such as board games, quizzes, musicians, singers, drawing, crafts etc. Although mum is a bit limited in what she can do she is always encouraged to join in
Although it felt sad for mum to go into a care home we couldn't be happier where she is and most importantly she's happy and settled. Thank you to all the staff at The Manor House.
Reply from Clare Erskine, Home Manager at The Manor House Roundhay Care HomeThank you so much for your fabulous review of our beautiful care home, the home is indeed luxurious, but we always strive to match this with our compassionate and kind care. We appreciate everyone is unique and special and its fair to say the staff strive to make sure the residents feel respected and very much cared about. My mother in law has been at The Manor House for 6 months now. The home is like a 5 star hotel. The decor beautiful and the staff are kind and caring and everything is always immaculately clean. My MIL has a lovely room and she's settled in well. There are always various activities going on and everyone
no matter what their abilities are encouraged to join in. There's also lots of amazing parties, events and celebrations which have been so enjoyable and great for family and friends to come along too. The chefs also do a fantastic job. The meals provided always look delicious and very appetising with lots of variety. There is also a lovely cafe/bar where residents and family and friends can socialise.

The Manor House Roundhay is a beautiful place, with an incredible team caring for residents at its heart.
My mum has a fabulous, spacious room with a patio. The rooms are cleverly designed, to be elegant and not institutional yet with an abundance of storage space. We have found a place for everything
Mum brought, which was quite a lot!
Mum is looked after expertly, treated with respect and nourished body and mind. I look forward to my visits and finding out what mum, her friends and the interesting, interested team have been up to.
The 'At Home' party we had to welcome Mum to Leeds held in the private dining room deserves a special mention. It was planned thoughtfully with Mum, from the layout of the room and the excellent buffet, to a member of the team being there throughout the evening to make sure everything went smoothly. It most definitely did and our guests had a brilliant evening.
Here's to more good times ahead.
Reply from Clare Erskine, Home Manager at The Manor House Roundhay Care HomeThank you so much for spending the time to write a review for us, we really appreciate your fabulous comments of our beautiful home and mum's fantastic room. She has soon become a very big part of the Manor House Roundhay family and it's a delight to see her flourish and thrive along with her engagement with everything and everyone in the home. She did enjoy the party within the home in the "private dining suite" and to see her sparkly personality as she joined in with friends and family was pure delight. I know mum still talks about this event and these are what special memories are really made of. Thank you so much for choosing our home and for the honour of caring for your gorgeous mum. My mum had a brief but truly memorable stay at Manor House, and we couldn't be more grateful for the care she received. The facilities, food, and activities were of an exceptional standard, all set within beautiful and peaceful surroundings that made her feel relaxed and at home.
However, what really
set Manor House apart for us was the staff. Their kindness, compassion, and attention to detail were extraordinary. They couldn't do enough for their guests, and it was clear that every member of the team genuinely cared. Knowing that Mum was treated with such warmth, dignity, and respect brings us great comfort.
Even after her stay, the thoughtful communication and care shown by the team-especially in looking after her belongings-was deeply appreciated. It's rare to find such a combination of professionalism and heartfelt compassion.
We will always remember Manor House fondly and are thankful for the comfort and joy it brought to Mum during her time there.

My mum came to Manor, albeit reluctantly in December 2024 and from the day she arrived at this beautiful 5 star home I have nothing but praise for the AMAZING care and patience and love they have shown to my lovely mum. The staff, all of them are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble from dietary
or religious needs to always offering us a nice cuppa when we come. As time has gone on mums needs have become more intense and the staff have stepped up to the extra care required with a compassion that you would only think family would give. Me and my siblings and all our family are so grateful that we know mum is getting the best possible care we could want in her twilight days and the bonus is - it's in the most beautiful surroundings and atmosphere. I cannot praise it highly enough - we are very lucky and fortunate . Thank you Clare and all the wonderful team.

Mum came into Manor House almost ten months ago, at first just for respite. We immediately saw how much safer Mum was and the kindness shown with such attentive and genuine care was way above what we ever expected. The home decor and gardens are without doubt beautiful but the most valuable part of
Manor House Home is the wonderful care all the residents enjoy. Recently Mum's health has started to deteriorate but we were immediately reassured Mum will have all that is needed to keep her comfortable and safe. We feel very fortunate to know our Mum is so very content and so well cared for, thanks to the exceptional carers.

Although moving into a Care Home was not what either Mum or I wanted to happen, we knew it was going to be the safer option for her.
Moving Mum to The Manor, Roundhay means she is in a safe environment where she is well looked after and safe, meaning we can enjoy quality time together as mother & daughter
when I visit. She is very well cared for and enjoys the food, it's lovely for me also to be able to join her occasionally for a meal so we can eat together as we always did. There is always a cup of tea for us when I go to visit.
There is a varied programme of activities led by the coordinator Ahmad with other volunteers assisting. Initially mum was quite hesitant to join in, but with their gentle encouragement and assistance she has actually enjoyed joining in some activities, enabling her to meet some of the other residents too. There is a varied weekly timetable including board games, exercises sessions, quizzes, visiting musicians and even a visit from lama's this week.
Reply from Clare Erskine, Home Manager at The Manor House Roundhay Care HomeThank you so much for such a beautiful review of our care home and we are thrilled to hear that you feel mum is well cared for and happy with us. We are honestly over the moon that you feel happy and content with everything too, as we understand that our care very much extends to family and friends. Ahmad our gorgeous activity co-ordinator has spent a lot of time with mum, and she is slowly building confidence in joining activities. The manager, a heartfelt thank you to you and your amazing team at The Manor House, Roundhay. Moving Mum at 100 wasn't easy, but from the moment she arrived, we knew she was in safe hands. Her mood lifted almost instantly, and your thoughtful photo the next day really reassured us.
Her room is bright
and spacious with a gorgeous garden view, and the whole home has a warm, welcoming feel. Every staff member is friendly and nothing's too much trouble. Special mention to Abby at reception, her cheerful smile always lights up the day. The food looks fantastic, and the dining room could rival any hotel. It's a joy to visit.

She is a fantastic lady, and we are so lucky that you chose us to care for mum, from the very first day her lovely smile and great personality shone through. As you say mum has settled so well with us and it's lovely to see her enjoy our beautiful home and be surrounded by a team who genuinely adore her. Thank you for all your fabulous compliments and I will ensure to share with the whole team as they will certainly feel very proud to receive such outstanding praise.

The Manager and all her staff have been so welcoming and kind. When we decided to move my very elderly mother to Roundhay Manor I had some reservation because of her age and condition! How wrong was I! She settled in immediately. Since moving she's had her hair, nails and a pedicure done. The kindness
of the staff is second to none, thank you.
Ps they also have a bar and mums favourite tipple is a Baileys!!!
Reply from Clare Erskine, Home Manager at The Manor House Roundhay Care HomeWe would like to thank you for writing such a beautiful review of our care home. We totally understood that the move from another care home was a worry, but through gentle support we are so happy that your lovely mum has settled so well with us. She is fabulous and its has been so heart warming to see how quickly and easily she adjusted to living in our home. Mum can enjoy our beautiful environment and compassionate care, and I really hope this has given the family some comfort and reassurance too. I know the home team are so delighted to be able to support mum, as she is the most amazing and wonderful lady. I cant thank you enough for trusting us to care for your mum and I will ensure that I pass on your lovely compliments to the staff team.

I'd like to leave comments relating to a time that none of us want to experience but will, nonetheless, happen one day.

As my mum (the first resident of this wonderful care home) was approaching the end of her life, the amazing staff at The Manor House Roundhay not only wanted to care for my mum

but actively helped me in obtaining her release from the NHS hospital where she was quite frankly just being left to die.

The end of life care that the staff carried out was second to none and way above the call of duty. Restoring her dignity, making her supremely comfortable, ensuring there was always someone by her side throughout the night, they were simply amazing. They even ensured she had her favourite lipstick on as the end approached.

They were wonderful with me keeping me informed and after she passed they dealt with me in an empathetic and a 100% cooperative manner.

And when she left for the last time, there was a guard of honour by all the staff and residents.

Reply from Sharna Neal, Deputy Home Manager at The Manor House Roundhay Care HomeFrom the bottom of our hearts here at The Manor House Roundhay, thank you for such kind words. In our profession we meet many people, whom we love like our own family. From their first day to their last we want it to be a special heartfelt experience, which is why when we were told your mum was on her end of life journey the only thing to do was get her home, where she belonged. It was not only mine, but my teams privilege to give her the send of she most truly deserved. It never gets easier saying goodbye to our residents, and a hole is left within the home. Thank you for choosing us to care for your mum, I know it was not an easy decision for you to make in the beginning but it was one your mum, our Val, truly loved.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 41 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.996 for The Manor House Roundhay Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (483 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 485 Ratings = 4.996
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Manor House Roundhay Care Home is based on 41 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 65 registered maximum number of service users is 13, which has been reached with 41 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
