My mam has settled really well, all the staff + carers know us all by name which is nice. There is always some activities going on and all the residents are well cared for + happy.

We are struggling to get my mam in the shower but we are working together on this.

Review of Palmersdene from Sandra G (Daughter of Resident) published on 27 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My father went into palmersdene nearly 5 years ago. He went in for respite but didn't want to leave. This was all down to the amazing management and staff that welcome him in to the care home. The care and compassion has been outstanding, even when his dementia was at its worst, and because of there care it has made our last years with him so much easier knowing he had 24 hour care. I haven't enough words or praise to say to thank you to them ! What a credit to Anchor this management and staff team are at Palmersdene Thank you with all my heart for taking excellent care of my father

Review of Northbourne from R B (Niece of Resident) published on 17 June 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My aunt has been in Northbourne for 4 months and I feel her experience has been very positive so far. The home is bright, welcoming and clean and staff are friendly, go out of their way to remember who is related to whom. It has been a time of upheaval, with 2 changes of management, but the remaining management staff have done a fantastic job in the meantime. The team leads seem to be on the ball and the carers work hard. As in all care homes it would be great if there could be higher staffing levels, but this is perhaps not feasible. My auntie is relatively independent, so I don't see some aspects of care, but feel very positive so far.

Reply from Mark Horton, Manager at Northbourne

Review of Cranlea from Keith T (Son of Resident) published on 16 June 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

After visiting various other care homes, I just knew Cranlea was the perfect home for my mam. It took a few months for her to settle in to her new home but soon she made friends with other residents and all the staff who made her stay enjoyable. There was plenty of activities to do in the lounge where she spent most of her time like bingo, painting, making cakes and aerobics, she loved the singers and school choirs and visits from miniture ponies. Her room/flat was always kept clean by the great staff. Myself and family would like to say a massive thank you to all the staff who made mam's stay enjoyable.

I would just like to leave a review to show our appreciation to the lovely staff at Cranlea! We can't thank them enough for the time & effort that goes into this beautiful home. Our family are grateful for all their hard work & dedication. The staff are so helpful and make the place feel like home. My grandma is so happy here and that makes us happy as a family. There is also plenty going on which involves the whole family & the food choices are amazing & catered for all dietary needs! 10/10 from us!!

Very happy with the level of care Mam receives in Palmersdene. The staff are always happy and pleased to assist with requests. Before Mam moved into Palmersdene, we mentioned this to numerous people we know, and they all said what a good care home Palmersdene is. We couldn't be happier with the level of care Mam gets there.

My mother-in-law is very happy at Palmersdene. She is well looked after by the staff who go above and beyond for all residents. There always seem to be lots of activities and shows to keep the residents amused, and outings as well. The home is clean and warm, and beautifully decorated.

From the minute you arrive at Palmersdene, you receive a very warm welcome. The management and staff show so much care and warmth to my mother. I am regularly asked if I have any concerns. I definitely chose the right care home when we chose Palmersdene, immacuately clean, caring and friendly staff, lovely rooms and my mother likes the food.

The staff and management at Cranlea are exceptional. They are very professional and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. They go out of their way to help.
My mother is always treated with respect and dignity and I am grateful for everything they do to help my mother.

The care home itself is in a great location with plenty of shops etc., nearby, and it is always easy for parking when visiting. Plenty of activities are provided.

Review of Cranlea from Kevin R (Son of Resident) published on 9 December 2025 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Our experience since our mother went into Cranlea has been brilliant. The transition from her living at home trying to be independent was not good at all. Once decision was taken she needed 24hr care without a doubt Cranlea was our first port of call. My mother had care here 3yr couldn't fault the staff. We knew that yes different people could be there but their ethic of care was first class and still is. Once our mother got in and she found her bearings yes she asked when she was going home, we reassured her along with the staff, she was safe & cared for. Every need was met, nothing was a troule they went above and beyond. We are kept informed regular if we are happy, we are.

My Mam moved to Cranlea from another care home approx May 2025. The staff are superb & have been the main reason why she has settled so well (kind, thoughtful & attentive). Her family have been warmly welcomed also & really appreciate how smooth the transition to Cranlea has been. Settled atmosphere, friendly & approachable staff, good food, accommodation, entertainment etc. Well done to all at Cranlea.
