Sadly my father-in-law died peacefully in Palmersdene Care Home on the 10th Feb 2026. He had been a resident since Oct 2022. He had Alzheimer's disease! Overall he received good care. The staff are always pleasant, caring and compassionate, especially over his last few days and hours (day and night
staff) many thanks to them.

Very happy with the level of care Mam receives in Palmersdene. The staff are always happy and pleased to assist with requests. Before Mam moved into Palmersdene, we mentioned this to numerous people we know, and they all said what a good care home Palmersdene is. We couldn't be happier with the level
of care Mam gets there.

My mother-in-law is very happy at Palmersdene. She is well looked after by the staff who go above and beyond for all residents. There always seem to be lots of activities and shows to keep the residents amused, and outings as well. The home is clean and warm, and beautifully decorated.

From the minute you arrive at Palmersdene, you receive a very warm welcome. The management and staff show so much care and warmth to my mother. I am regularly asked if I have any concerns. I definitely chose the right care home when we chose Palmersdene, immacuately clean, caring and friendly staff,
lovely rooms and my mother likes the food.

My mam is well looked after in Palmersdene. The staff and management go over and beyond their duties, not just with Mam but with all residents and their families. Mam is safe, comfortable, and all her needs are met in the most dignified way. I would highly recommend Palmersdene to everyone who is looking
for the best care for a loved one.

My wife has been in Palmersdene since July 2023. She has settled in well and is happy in herself. She is well cared for. The staff are all very friendly. Her room is always clean. The food is varied. I cannot fault Palmersdene Care Home. They have a great team looking after all the residents. I go to
see my wife at the care home, knowing when I go home she is safe and well looked after.

I cannot overstate how pleased we are, as a family with the care mum has received at Palmersdene. The staff are very professional, clearly well trained and very friendly. The management are visible and approachable and always available to discuss any concerns. Medical issues are picked up on quickly,
dealt with immediately and monitored carefully. The home is always spotlessly clean. Food is freshly prepared and a good choice of meals is offered. What more can I say? Mum is happy.

I've lived here for over two years I love the staff. Bit I like my independence so I do go out a lot visiting friends and family and my lovely friend and sometimes husband. They have a lot of activities going on. If I need help with anything the staff are always there for me.

My whole family could not be happier with my dad's care at Palmersdene. It was a very difficult decision for us to make to place dad in residential care but the compassion, attentiveness and professionalism of the staff have turned the process into something we wish we had done sooner as dad now has
the quality of life he truly deserves thanks to Palmersdene.

I was anxious about Dad moving into a care home, but already within a few months, I am so relieved at how much he is thriving in Palmersdene. This is due to the caring, kind staff and the brilliant environment there. Dad has a beautiful room where he is safe and secure 24/7, which is such a comfort
to me and my family.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.802)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.802) out of 10 for Palmersdene is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 38 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.802 for Palmersdene is calculated as follows: ( (372 Excellents x 5) + (74 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 454 Ratings = 4.802
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Palmersdene is based on 38 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 38 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
