I was looking to place my husband in a care home for his worsening dementia. From the moment I arrived at Prior Bank, it felt 'right', the warmth, care and atmosphere was like being hugged! The professional care and attention is amazing, but the empathy and warmth shine through. I highly recommend this
lovely home.

The home & the day staff are first class and have helped me to make the transition from leaving my home of 66 years to becoming a permanent resident, having excellent care has made this difficult decision easier. The staff are always very welcoming to family and friends when they visit. The home is
always very clean & well kept with excellent facilities & food which is always good. My room has a view over the lovely well kept garden and I have been allowed to bring my own furniture and garden ornaments which is a great comfort. The presence of regular doctor & nurse visits is very reassuring.

I am so pleased that Mum is in such a lovely home. She has been here over 2 years now, after initially having 2 respite stays. I cannot recommend it highly enough. On arrival it always smells lovely, it's so welcoming & every member of staff always greets you with a smile & a chat. I know I can go to
anyone if I have any issues & they are always resolved quickly. The carers are so kind & thoughtful & work very hard. The food is great & Mum loves the puddings. Choosing Brackenfield Hall was the best decision for Mum & as a family we're so happy that she is happy & settled here.

As a family we are please my Nan is in such a comfortable and homely place. My Nan used to visit for some respite days before becoming a resident and has now been in over 2 years.
All the staff are so welcoming and friendly when I have been to visit with it always looking so clean and tidy.
They are
always doing some form of activity too keeping residents busy and if there are ever any issues you can easily go to any staff member for help. My Nan is happier in Brackenfield as she has made friends with the other residents and staff, it was the best thing we could have done for her.

Had my dad in for respite after a fall at his home. What can I say about Dearne hall. All staff were fantastic with my dad and helped him with all his needs and care whilst he was helped get his confidence back home.
He enjoyed joining in with activities whilst he was there and having fun with the
staff and other residents.
I thought he was looked after 100% and wouldn't hesitate having him stay there permanently when the time come .
Keep up the excellent work guys!

and that means a lot to me when I have to go home after visiting my mom . Just to say Adel was made for that job and a big thank you

My mother in law was in Brackenfield for 6 years, what an amazing place it is to put your loved ones in. The atmosphere when entering the building was calm, friendly and clean and odour free. The staff couldn't do enough for her and the activities was always going on, from coffee mornings to singers
and outings to various places. The home in my option is very well managed. Staff are always friendly and chatty and made me feel I was welcome

My family and I are deeply grateful for the wonderful care my grandparent received at Brackenfield. From the very beginning, the staff treated him with kindness, dignity, and respect. They not only provided excellent medical and personal care, but also made every effort to ensure he felt comfortable,
valued, and at home.
What stood out most to us was the compassion shown by the entire team. They took the time to get to know him as a person, not just as a resident. Whether it was sharing a laugh, patiently listening to his stories, or simply sitting with him when he needed company, their presence made such a difference in his final months.
The facilities were always clean, safe, and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt warm and supportive. Communication with our family was clear and thoughtful-we always felt informed and reassured that he was in good hands.
Our family would recommend Brackenfield to anyone!

Brackenfield Hall

Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
I've read lots of the reviews of Brackenfield Hall and I don't recognise them as being about the care home that my mum lived in for 9 months. The ground floor area always seemed nice and had a good atmosphere but totally different to the EMI unit on the 1st floor which is where my mum was. There never
seemed to be enough staff to cope with the number of dementia residents. My mums room was frequently dirty and on a few occasions I found poo and incontinence pads on the floor in her room. Often the door to her room was locked but no one could tell me why that was. All of her clothes and bedding were meticulously labelled but no one seemed to take any notice of that. From day 1 none of the bedding sets I'd bought were used, they all just vanished. Fundraisers for the unit never seemed to result in any improvements and activities seemed to rarely happen.Visiting at mealtimes is strictly forbidden whereas at other care homes it is encouraged. My mum was simply neglected here.

Both of my parents have recently moved into Oakwood Grange, the staff have been very accommodating by keeping my parents together. All the staff are friendly and approachable even when sometimes they seem a bit stretched meaning short staffed.
The home feels very homely and clean. My mum especially
seems to be enjoying the activities provided. The staff are very informative about my parents and I feel they are being looked after.
