My Mother in Law moved to Prior Bank in November from assisted living. Since then, she has improved with her walking, has put on weight and is eating well. She joins in the activities and is very happy and settled. Prior Bank has a very welcoming feel about it and nothing is too much trouble. We
are informed of any new health issues promptly and updated regularly on her existing ones. The staff are excellent and I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home.

My aunt's health has declined quite severely since being admitted to hospital in December, having had pneumonia. Since returning to Oakwood Grange, she has been treated with care and dignity, during a difficult period for her. I have received timely and regular communication from the staff, which has
been very reassuring at this time.

From the first day we brought our mum to Prior Bank she was welcomed and cared for. She loved to join in activities particularly dancing and singing! As she deteriorated she was always treated with respect and in her last hours treated with dignity and love. Mum often had visitors from across the country
and we were always welcomed and offered tea and biscuits. Thank you so much to everyone for the love and support shown to mum and to us as her family

Our mum moved to Prior Bank in July 2023 . She lived there for 2 1/2 years . All the staff ( ranging from cooks, care staff and management) showed support, love and care to her. Some staff went above and beyond with their care to mum and to us as a family during the time she lived at Prior Bank. It
always felt so welcoming. Throughout Mum's time the support really was outstanding especially at the end of life care from care staff and the Chaplin to both mum and to us as a family. Also since our mum has passed away the support hasn't stopped from the Chaplain. It was a very difficult time for us as a family to deal with our mum having dementia and make the hard decision for mum to live in a care home but Prior Bank's support and care got us through it . I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this care home.

Since mum moved into prior bank in November 2025 she has improved no end. I was at breaking point at home and couldn't offer 24 hours of care myself along with looking after my family. It was such a hard decision but the staff reassured me and have been so supportive during the transition.
I feel so
grateful to everyone there that cares for mum and treats her like a family member. I can go anytime to visit and don't have any restrictions. It's a truly calm and relaxed environment which is exactly what mum needs.
I'm eternally thankful to everyone there. You all saved me and mum.

This place is not how you would imagine a care home at all! Every worker/Carer goes above and beyond in everything they do. Their friendliness and welcoming attitude make you feel at ease. So much thought is put into place for each person and there preferences/best way to do things. It's a great piece
of mind knowing my Nan is with them and getting the proper help and support she needs but also whilst valuing her independence and dare we say it stubbornness. In all seriousness I am and will be forever grateful for what each of them have done for my beautiful Nan, me and my family. Thank you all and keep being amazing! All my love

When walking into the home it was warm and inviting. The admin and home manager welcomed me in straight away with smiles on their faces. When I went to see my family friend she looks so well in herself and happy and comfortable and has nothing but good things to say about the home and has a great funny/for
endly relationship with the staff.
All the staff including the deputy manager, domestics, maintenance are so happy and welcoming and makes the home run smoothly.

My impression of this home is that it is a happy, positive, caring environment.
You get that feeling as soon as you go in, and my interactions with staff and residents back that up. That is a credit to the whole team in Brackenfield, who work hard to create that atmosphere. The residents, including
my Dad, all seem to appreciate this. The building is bright and clean, and is a comfortable place to be with good facilities. All in all moving to Brackenfield was a really good choice for my Dad, giving him the extra support that he needed in a caring positive environment.

I cannot praise the team at Dearne Hall highly enough. The level of care and dignity shown to the residents far exceeds good. Nothing is ever too much trouble and time is taken to know each resident on a personal level. Since my Dad moved in the difference it has made can't be underestimated. My Sister
and I are no longer worried about his safety and all round care. The team understand him and the added personal touches make all the difference to both Dad and us. It was a difficult decision to put Dad into full time care, but the team here have 100 % made us realise he is in the best place with the best care possible. I cannot thank each and everyone of them enough for everything they do, far and away they go above and beyond everyday.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My Mum has been living at Hatfield House for 5 1/2 years & the care she's received throughout that time has been excellent! I'm kept informed of everything & receive a monthly "resident of the day" phone call from the team leader to give me an opportunity to ask any questions, raise any concerns & update
me on her weight & wellbeing.
There is always a team leader on her floor when visiting - able to answer questions or to let me know what she's been doing. The staff are amazing! They are friendly & welcoming & treat my mum with dignity & respect but also have a giggle with her & get the karaoke machine on - encouraging residents to sing along to old familiar songs. Her dementia is advanced but they still promote independence but support her when needed. They have a singer once a month & residents love it.
Her room is kept immaculately clean & tidy & the food is excellent. I can definitely recommend Hatfield House.

The carers and management aree friendly and caring, nothing is too much for them to help or explain any questions you ask. It is lovely and clean and always trying to get residents to join in activities. My mum was in as respite, but is now permanent. Would highly recommend Dearne Hall 100%.

My mum is a long term resident at Prior Bank and I believe that the staff and management make a great team.Their care and kindness are second to none I have the utmost confidence in them. Prior Bank is always spotlessly clean and comfortable. The staff are considerate and friendly to residents and
relatives alike. Mum certainly enjoys the home cooked food. Unfortunately she's now not able to take part in the activities provided
but she did enjoy them when she was able. She always enjoys the musical entertainment given by various visiting singers and musicians. I have in the past recommended Prior Bank to a friend who was looking for care and I would not hesitate to do so again.

Prior Bank

from Dinah W (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 12 November 2025

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
We are very pleased with my partner's mother's experience. We kept her at home as long as possible, with support from a home-care service. However, as her dementia progressed, she became depressed and was reluctant to get out of bed or engage with visitors. Since coming to Prior Bank, she has brightened
up considerably, is much more mobile and alert and seems content. She engages with staff and other residents, and generally talks positively about the care. We visit several times a week and see many kind interactions between staff and residents.
The decor at the home could be improved - the small sitting room looks especially neglected: machinery needs screening and more cupboard space is needed to tidy away the activities.
Incontinence products are stacked in clients' bedrooms in cardboard boxes: unsightly and not respectful. More cupboards and more frequent ordering could improve this.
Football memorabilia / Hallowe'en skeleton maybe not appropriate for homely feeling?
Reply from Simone Clover, Manager at Prior BankThank you for taking the time to review Prior Bank and we are pleased you rate our staff as excellent. We're pleased your partner's mother is happily settled with us and is enjoying activities. We appreciate you taking the time to discuss some of the issues raised directly. We are currently updating some areas of our home which will continue. Incontinence products are delivered via the NHS where we're unable to change frequency, however these are stored away where possible. Our residents decided how our corridors are decorated where, in addition to football memorabilia, we have displays reflecting gardening, music, haberdashery and other interests. We were also happy to support your partner's mother's room is decorated to ensure she feels at home in our care. I'm always happy to discuss all aspects of care and day-to-day life at Prior Bank.
