Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother in law was at Devonshire house for just over 6 years on the Ryder unit, sadly passed away Oct 25.From day 1 we knew that this was the correct place for her. We were all made to welcome, no matter what time we went to visit, sometimes it was 8 o'clock in the evening.,
During her time there
ALL the staff have become like extended family, not only carers but housekeeping and kitchen staff. They all work so extremely hard and go above and beyond.
They had organized a beautiful 'wedding vowel' renewal (fun and beautiful, with a local priest) for my in laws, also a huge family Diamond Wedding Anniversary meal for the whole family, 10 of us. Even time out of their weekend of to decorate the room for us,, For these things ànd numerous other events we will all be forever grateful. We as a family have made some amazing memories that the staff have made possible. Even being a massive support to my father in law, which helped take some of the pressure his children.
100% highly recommend

My Mother has been at Devonshire House for 30 months. It has become her home and she feels really safe, secure and well looked after. She loves the fact that the house is full of character and truly feels like an individual home with warmth and charm. The Carers are superb and always go the extra mile.
It was recently my Mothers birthday and her room was decorated with banners and they even had a cake with a candle that they brought to her room. My Mother is treated with dignity and love which means everything.

The quality of the care here is really good, exceptional to be honest. My wife was here for six years and on the whole I feel it is good value for money. The home is spacious and always smells clean. The grounds are lovely in the summer and the residents enjoying using them. I've always enjoyed my visits
here, I always feel comfortable and part of the family.

St Marys

For the last five years of mum's life she was cared for by the fabulous team at St Mary's Care Home in Holbrook. As Mum lived with Alzheimer's disease she required a significant level of care, which the team at St Mary's adapted, reviewed and revised on a regular basis. There were occasions when we
as a family had concerns for mum's welfare and on each occasion these concerns were dealt with in an empathetic and supportive manner and any necessary changes were implemented. We thank you for listening, and for responding. Mum was placed in care at St Mary's during Covid in 2020, and from the very first moment she arrived she never looked back (literally). We have vivid memories of mum walking through the door and being welcomed to her new home, a place where she felt safe and secure every day. My family and I feel blessed that during the later part of mum's life she was in a warm, secure, safe and loving environment surrounded by a wonderful team of people. St Mary's you are amazing!

My mother has been at Devonshire House for around six months now and is very happy there. The proof of this is that after a recent hospital stay my mother told me that she was looking forward to going back 'home' to Devonshire House. This proved to me that she feels safe, secure and well cared here.
My mother has a beautiful room with outstanding views to the garden. All of the team here are caring and friendly bar none. Mum has been in other care homes but if we were choosing again we would still pick Devonshire House. Bravo.

Whenever I visit my aunt, she is usually having a good time, she's clean and tidy, and she is pleased with most of her meals. The staff are all very patient with her and she tells me she loves them all, especially the young men! The only complaint is that they get her up early in the morning!
Reply from Marco Carvalho, Deputy Manager at St MarysThank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are very pleased to hear Aunt seems happy and loves our team. We all love her very much here. We know Aunt certainly likes to get herself up nice and early, with additional support for personal care. We regularly review all our residents' care plans, and we will be happy to discuss daily routines and all aspects of our care further. Thank you again. Best wishes

The staff are so very friendly and kind; the home is exceptional. The staff know all my family's names and my dog's name (who visits everyday and is always welcome) which makes my family and I feel very happy and content. As my husband can no longer live with me due to his health conditions, it really
puts my mind at ease that I feel he is being looked after so well at Devonshire House.

Since my mother-in-law became a resident at Devonshire House in January 2025 - moving from a care home in the north-west of England - I have been constantly impressed with the quality of care, the exceptional standards of cleanliness and maintenance in a beautiful historic building and the attention
to my mother-in-law's particular circumstances and needs. In the past she has not always found it easy to settle or make friends, but she has easily managed both in Devonshire House and we have seen her uncharacteristically willing and even eager to participate in activities and to socialise with her fellow residents. The staff have kept us well informed and could not have been more responsive.

The village of Cavendish is beautiful; likewise the grounds and gardens of Devonshire House, which can at need be enjoyed from inside the large conservatory. We visited a number of local care homes before settling on this one and we remain certain that we made the right choice.

It has been very hard for us as a family, despite our best efforts and with the support of home care over the last 3 years, to keep mum at home, and to come to terms with the fact that she needs additional care and support to keep her safe and well. Hospital admission sadly proved that. With the help
of the hospital social worker, we were able to facilitate mum's transition to St Mary's Care home.
We are so grateful to all the people who have shown so much kindness and compassion, who have helped, guided and supported us through this difficult journey. We feel that St Mary's is a warm, compassionate and caring community home that mum will be able to continue to live a full and happy life.

We needed to find a care home urgently for my 95-year old mother in October 2025. St Joseph's were very friendly, efficient and welcoming. Mum moved in within a few days and the staff were very helpful in getting everything organised, for example doctor's registration, district nurse visits etc.
She
was made very welcome and was encouraged to join in meal times, events etc.

I would thoroughly recommend St Joseph's

I have worked in the care sector for 32 years, which makes you more aware of what good care should be. When a loved one has dementia, they are very vulnerable, they depend on the carers to attend to every need, and it is a big worry for families to trust a home to provide care for them. St Joseph's
have an amazing Team of Carers, they are respectful, kind, treat everyone as an individual , and with dignity.
When my mother moved into St Joseph's. It was a great relief as I did not have to worry about her as I knew the carers would look after her, as they understood her needs. I will be forever grateful to them for caring for my mother to her final days, she had 2 happy years with you. Thank you Sheena

Our Dad moved to St Josephs approx 15 months ago and despite our concerns he settled in very quickly and treated it as his home in no time at all. Without doubt the main reason for this was down to the approach and attitude of all the St Josephs team. They were consistently friendly, considerate and
caring and we could see they really liked Dad. They enjoyed having fun together and didn't mind Dad busying himself with tidying up or exploring everything. The team leaders medical care was first rate they were alert to and changes and advised us and the Doctors as necessary. A huge thank you to everyone for their care and kindness.
