My mum-in-law is 95 years old. She's loved and cared for by us, her immediate family. She moved into Upton Grange in May, after several visits for respite care. It took a little while to settle. She did settle. She has friends. The staff are wonderful, they pay attention to detail, clean, caring and
above all, kind. Not only has she settled, but it's true that my wife and I have realised how much it's meant to our lives too. We visit every day and are greeted by the staff. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. She enjoys the staff/team, banter, the food and the activities. As professionals in social care, my wife and I have always been wary of this period of our lives. Thank you all for putting our minds at rest and caring so wonderfully. Thank you.

After looking at a lot if care homes, we chose Birkenhead Court for our Mum. We never regretted that choice. The home is well maintained and clean with lovely rooms. The food is great and there are lots of activities for the residents, including outings, singers and dancing. It has a cinema, sweet shop
and non-alcoholic bar for the residents.
All this means nothing without the superb care workers who cared for our mum for the last 10 years of her life. They are a credit to the home and their vocation, we can't praise them highly enough. Mum was treated like one of an extended family and really enjoyed her life there.
If you are looking for a care home for your loved one, look no further than Birkenhead Court.

Such a great feel to Upton Grange. Welcoming and definitely caring, without question. Mum has settled within days of becoming a member of the Upton Grange family. Feedback from other family members have all been positive and the term "wouldn't put our mum anywhere else, it really is excellent" has been
told to us on many occasions.

A lot of care and compassion was shown to my step mother, who at times could have challenging behaviour . Caregivers, listened to concerns and acted on them in order to help her settle into an environment that she struggled to come to terms with.

My sister (97) is very happy at the above. She is extremely well cared for. Loves all the staff and carers. Also she still has good eyesight, speech, so in encouraged by the staff to join in things. Altogether we couldn't have found a better home. I am her P.A.O so wanted the best. She fully agrees
with this.

What can I say about Sandstones, the staff are all brilliant, they go out of their way to make residents and family feel at home and safe. Everyone is treated individually and with respect. Staff know residents' preferences and dislikes, they are always upbeat, professional and caring. The staff appear
happy and comfortable in their roles, this I think is due to approachable and professional management. Well done Anchor you have an amazing team at Sandstones.

I find Upton Grange one of the friendliest care homes I have visited. Nothing is any trouble and the staff go out of their way to make residents comfortable and happy. The office staff always welcome you and are ready to listen if something needs doing. The food is always lovely and plentiful. Everywhere
is clean and well maintained. I witnessed a beautiful moment yesterday, a carer was asking a resident if they would like a cuddle, it brought tears to my eyes, as I passed the room.

We were recommended to look at Birkenhead Court by a good friend when Mum needed respite from dementia we were welcomed in and within a week Mum moved in. They sorted her medicines out and the change is remarkable, she is clan, tidy, calm. Making friends - enjoy the lovely food on offer. She has moved
in permanently now and my dad has joined her after having seizures - a stroke and they are settling in well together. The staff have been brilliant looking after them, so kind & caring and nothing is too much trouble. Not only have they taken care of Mum & Dad but when we as a family were at a really low point they have helped to make life easier.

I have no complaints about the care they gave to my father. It was exemplary, five stars. The care staff are amazing. However, I do have a complaint about how they dealt with things after Dad passed away. He passed away in March. It is now July. They have not yet processed the refund we are owed, which
is in breach of their agreement. The last thing a bereaved family wants to do is to have to chase up after money. They were instantly responsive when Dad was alive. Once he passed, they were neglectful of their communication and follow-up. Despite calling head office (who was helpful) and agreeing on a resolution (i.e., to pay what they owed), at the level of the home, which is where the refund comes from, they still did not follow through. I am expecting a resolution tomorrow after months of chasing up. I have given the management 3 stars only because of this issue. Otherwise, they would have had 5 stars. Don't hesitate to have a loved one stay here. They will be well taken care of
Reply from Julie Harwood, Manager at Upton Grange

Thank you for taking the time to review Upton Grange and we are pleased you rate our care/ support as excellent. We appreciate your kind comments regarding our team and home, which I will pass on. It was our pleasure to care for Dad at Upton Grange and he is missed. We sincerely apologise again for the delay in forwarding your refund, which has now been completed. We have reviewed and amended our internal systems, so this issue doesn't re-occur.

Navigating a difficult time as a family was made so much easier by the care and support our Mum received from the team at Birkenhead court.
Our Mum stayed for 5 months before having to move to closer to family.
The manager and her team and in particular three members of staff went above and beyond
to ensure our Mum was cared for and supported throughout her stay. Her journey with Alzheimer's has not been easy so as a family we were very touched with everyone's kindness, patience and hard work when taking care of our Mum.
When dealing with a move to an Anchor home closer to family the team could not have done more to help us and keep Mum feeling happy and positive. Particular thanks to the manager for ensuring everything was arranged for the move and for always making time to talk through any questions we had, her efficiency and pro-active approach to all communications regarding our Mums care was greatly appreciated.
Many thanks and kindest regards to the team!

When looking for a care home for mum we looked at a few, but by far Birkenhead Court stood out, for its set up, friendly and welcoming staff, extra activities and the family feel to the place. Mum is now been in for the past month and we haven't been disappointed in fact it is better, staff are absolutely
brilliant. Place is well run with the residents at the heart.

I was so happy I chose Birkenhead Court for my mum, she has felt at home since she moved in Febuary. The staff are all lovely and nothing is to much trouble, I am also notified of any changes or doctor referals etc. straight away. As a family we always feel welcome at any time we visit, and not in the
