I will be forever grateful to the manager and deputy manager for their guidance, warmth and professionalism when it came to finding somewhere for mum. From first enquiry I knew I was in safe hands. The atmosphere at Upton Grange is like a warm hug as soon as you step inside. Superb staff throughout,
every visit it feels like one big happy family. I leave knowing Mum is happy, safe and secure. Speaking to other families, they all resonate the same "wouldn't leave our loved one anywhere else". Upton Grange was a beacon of light at a dark time.

The home is lovely, modern and clean. The staff are wonderful. Mum hasn't asked to come home once. She enjoys
the activities and company of the residents. I Cant thank the staff enough. Thank you

Birkenhead Court Care Home is truly exceptional. My mother has been living here for over two years, and the care she receives is consistently outstanding. The staff are kind, professional, and genuinely committed to the wellbeing and happiness of every resident.
The home offers a fantastic range of
activities that keep residents engaged and stimulated. There are daily events, craft sessions, and exercise activities, along with visits from singers and entertainers. Theme days bring fun and variety, and organised day trips provide residents with opportunities to get out and enjoy new experiences. My mother especially loves the themed afternoons and the entertainers, which she always joins in with a song or a little dance.
The environment is welcoming, safe, and homely, and communication with families is excellent. I have complete confidence that Mum is in the best possible hands. I would wholeheartedly recommend Birkenhead Court to anyone seeking exceptional care for their loved ones.

During an extended stay in hospital it became clear that our Mum would no longer be able to live independently. My sister and I had no idea what to do for the best but on a friend's recommendation, we called at Upton Grange in the hope of a little guidance, if nothing else. We were totally unprepared
for the superb support that we received on that day which subsequently led to Mum moving into the most welcoming family environment. After 93 years of total independence, we fully expected a lengthy period of adjustment however the friendliness and professionalism of the whole team means that Mum (and we) now see ourselves as part of the family. The expertise and good humour of every member of the team from carers, cleaners, cooks, team leaders and management contribute to this home-from-home atmosphere. We are grateful that Mum is in the care of these very special people.

Service satisfactory.
Slow response to access when visiting.
Reply from Samantha Armstrong, Manager at Heyberry House

Thank you for taking the time to review Heyberry House. The safety of our residents and colleagues is our priority, so our main door remains secure and requires a colleague to open this for visitors. At busier times, this may take a little more time. We aim to provide the best care and all round experience for our residents and their loved ones, where I'm happy to discuss all aspects of our care at a mutually convenient time.

The kindness and care shown to my mum whilst she settled in was excellent, and continues to this day.
Upton Grange is a lovely, modern, spotlessly clean and nicely decorated care home.
The staff are confident in their role as carers, with lots of humour. There is a happy environment amongst all
the staff. Management is very approachable and supportive - nothing is too much trouble. Our family feel very fortunate to have found an exemplary care home for our mum.

My mum is 98 and went into Heyberry house for her 1st Respite care in june 2025. we were very worried that she would hate being in a care environment and even put plans in place for her to go home if she wanted to. We had no need to worry as she loved her time there and extended her respite from 2 to
4 weeks following which, she became a permanent resident. The room she had was lovely, the food was freshly prepared and nutritious and the love and care she received was second to none. The staff deserve a special mention as they really do care about the residents and go out of their way to make every day special. Unfortunately mums care needs changed and she has had to go into nursing care which Heyberry house couldn't accommodate. Mum still talks very fondly of her stay there and the lovely people she met. we can't thank you enough.

My dad had to be urgently placed at Heyberry in June, following closure of the previous home he was residing at.
The staff had to settle in a number of patients at the same time and they did this with kindness and compassionate throughout. They not only helped dad settle in but we're a huge source
of support for both myself and my sister, having only recently moved him from his family home in April we were both extremely anxious and the staff made us feel cared for and listened to.
The team at Heyberry work extremely hard to make it a home for all the residents and their families.
Being a nurse with over 20 years experience of caring for people I can say that the team at Heyberry, from the kitchen to staff to the management team have always been friendly and approachable and always willing to do the best they can to accommodate dads needs. There has been ongoing work at heyberry and again the team have limited the disruption to the residents. Keep doing what you're doing team xx

Heyberry House provided short respite care for our Mum whilst she was waiting her permanent move into Upton Grange. This was our first experience of residential care and we could not have asked for anything better. Mum was instantly treated as 'one of the family' with every member of the team helping
her to settle through, what was for her, a very unsettling time. This was also true for us, the family members. The care, attention to every detail, the food and the location were all first class

Both my mother and Aunt are residents at Upton Grange. They are cared for with kindness, patience, humour and most importantly with skills.
All staff at all levels work as a team, all aware of the residents needs and personalities. They are equally supportive of families and often spend time making
sure we are ok.

My husband was happy at Upton Grange - though he won't admit it! He already knew someone in there and made a friend while there, who he hopes to visit! The only criticism he had was the lack of activities, whilst I was visiting with our daughter, a carer suggested some exercises which my husband would
have enjoyed, as he needs to move about, but this was cried off by some dominant ladies and they settled for hangman on a whiteboard, could Upton Grange have a specialist activity person say a couple of times per week?
Reply from Julie Harwood, Manager at Upton Grange

Thank you for taking the time to review Upton Grange and we are pleased that you rate our care/ support as excellent. We take on board your comments around activities, where it can be difficult to find an activity that suits everyone at all times. We do have armchair exercises scheduled daily, as we understand the importance to keep moving, however there are occasions when the majority of our residents prefer to do another activity. We aim to involve our residents in planning our activities to ensure these encompass everyone's preferences. We are glad to hear that your husband enjoyed his time here and I'm happy to discuss activities and all aspects of our care with you at a mutually convenient time to ensure he enjoys his future stays at Upton Grange.

My mum-in-law is 95 years old. She's loved and cared for by us, her immediate family. She moved into Upton Grange in May, after several visits for respite care. It took a little while to settle. She did settle. She has friends. The staff are wonderful, they pay attention to detail, clean, caring and
above all, kind. Not only has she settled, but it's true that my wife and I have realised how much it's meant to our lives too. We visit every day and are greeted by the staff. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. She enjoys the staff/team, banter, the food and the activities. As professionals in social care, my wife and I have always been wary of this period of our lives. Thank you all for putting our minds at rest and caring so wonderfully. Thank you.

After looking at a lot if care homes, we chose Birkenhead Court for our Mum. We never regretted that choice. The home is well maintained and clean with lovely rooms. The food is great and there are lots of activities for the residents, including outings, singers and dancing. It has a cinema, sweet shop
and non-alcoholic bar for the residents.
All this means nothing without the superb care workers who cared for our mum for the last 10 years of her life. They are a credit to the home and their vocation, we can't praise them highly enough. Mum was treated like one of an extended family and really enjoyed her life there.
If you are looking for a care home for your loved one, look no further than Birkenhead Court.

What can I say about Sandstones, the staff are all brilliant, they go out of their way to make residents and family feel at home and safe. Everyone is treated individually and with respect. Staff know residents' preferences and dislikes, they are always upbeat, professional and caring. The staff appear
happy and comfortable in their roles, this I think is due to approachable and professional management. Well done Anchor you have an amazing team at Sandstones.

I find Upton Grange one of the friendliest care homes I have visited. Nothing is any trouble and the staff go out of their way to make residents comfortable and happy. The office staff always welcome you and are ready to listen if something needs doing. The food is always lovely and plentiful. Everywhere
is clean and well maintained. I witnessed a beautiful moment yesterday, a carer was asking a resident if they would like a cuddle, it brought tears to my eyes, as I passed the room.

We were recommended to look at Birkenhead Court by a good friend when Mum needed respite from dementia we were welcomed in and within a week Mum moved in. They sorted her medicines out and the change is remarkable, she is clan, tidy, calm. Making friends - enjoy the lovely food on offer. She has moved
in permanently now and my dad has joined her after having seizures - a stroke and they are settling in well together. The staff have been brilliant looking after them, so kind & caring and nothing is too much trouble. Not only have they taken care of Mum & Dad but when we as a family were at a really low point they have helped to make life easier.
