Reviews

9.7 Thomas Henshaw Court has a Review Score of 9.7 (9.650)

The Review Score of 9.7 (maximum of 10) for Thomas Henshaw Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 10 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Thomas Henshaw Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.65 for Thomas Henshaw Court is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (36 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.65

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thomas Henshaw Court is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 8.8 positive Reviews (44 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 9 Reviews ÷ 8.8 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My Dad has been at Thomas Henshaw Court for nearly 12 months. It was a big step up for him and our family. He has settled in well and we as a family feel reassured that he is cared for properly. I am a senior nurse myself in the NHS and I am very happy with the standard of care, compassion, communication and commitment of the staff shown towards my dad. I really feel he has a 'little home' within a big organisation and he tells me lots of stories! And it's good to see him interacting if needed, but also have his privacy/dignity maintained when reassured.

Staff are first class but I feel sometimes Anchor Trust expect too much of them. For example when the chef not in staff are expected to cook, also when chef not in, residents do not get all that is on the menu. Office staff are not in at weekends so any problems have to be sorted by team leaders who have hands full attending to residents.
The home is a lovely, happy friendly place to be, due to the caring staff.

Dad has been a resident for nine months now and I have nothing but praise for all the staff.
Dad's needs are challenging but there is always a smile and everyone constantly encourages Dad. I have not seen a hint of frustration when caring for him.
When I phone or email, I get an immediate response. All the staff make a point of being aware how residents are on a daily basis.
I trust the staff implicitly to look after Dad as I would like him to be cared for.

A well-managed care home. Rooms are second to none, are kept very clean and are well maintained. However, some staff appear to be too busy to have time to chat to the clients. Also, one member of staff does not treat some clients with the expected respect.

My friend's mum died in December 2016. I have full responsibility for him. I could not be more pleased with the service he gets. From the top to the bottom everyone is so helpful. He is deaf/blind and also has celiac. His diet is perfect, he loves his food and when I visit tells me what lovely meals he has had. He loves going out and will soon be going on his second holiday to Llandudno with the home. He loves the daily newspaper reading, trips to the cinema, outings in the minibus and the chap who comes in and plays music. He also plays the piano for the residents. Music is his real love. Because of the care and support since his mum died he has settled well and now takes an active interest in day to day events. Fantastic home, thank you.

My son has been cared for by the staff at Thomas Henshaw court for the past 10 years. He has his own room with kitchen and bathroom en suite, ideal as he is confined to a wheelchair. The court is very clean, lovely and warm and the food is of a good standard. Staff are fantastic and my son is very well cared for 24/7.
