I'm happy with the level of care provided to my father. The staff are excellent - very caring and friendly. His room is always clean, as are his clothes. The food is of a high standard.
There is also a good social element. It's comforting to know he is not socially isolated.

My father has recently been off-colour - the care my father has received from all staff at Thomas Henshaw has been outstanding. Not only do they act professionally, they give care with kindness. All the staff are so lovely with my dad (and myself). I'm so glad I chose Thomas Henshaw for him.

Mum moved into Thomas Henshaw Court in August 2021, initially for respite, then on a permanent basis. We are very pleased with the kindness and high standards of care that Mum has received from all staff. The home has faced many challenges with Covid, we have been supported to maintain our close relationships
with Mum via a portal, phone calls and safe visits. Mum says the food is very good; she loves the size and aspects of her room with a kitchenette to make herself a drink or snack. Thomas Henshaw Court has a feeling of warmth, kindness and compassion, always has a "buzz" about it. There are regular checks by staff throughout the day to bring Mum a cuppa, remind her to go down for meals, draw the curtain in the late afternoon, often just to say hello. Mum has participated in cake baking; she has enjoyed dancing, singing with the lovely musical couple who have recommenced their special afternoons. Mum was delighted to go on a trip out to the lights with a fish and chip supper. As a family, we are very happy and grateful that Mum is supported to maintain as much of her independence as possible in a safe and caring environment.

My aunt has been a resident of Thomas Henshaw Court for the best part of 30-year., She came back in the day of "home for the blind". She has always been so settled and happy with you. She feels staff are part of her family. Our family is very small - so this means a lot. You have given her fun and joy.
You comforted her when her brother, my dad, died in 2007. You always make us feel welcome. She is safe, and she is loved at Henshaw. Thank you.

I simply don't have words to describe Thomas Henshaw Court! What an amazing place - all the staff are true angels.
Show so much care and attention to residents, it's as if they are their own family. My dad received such good care here and was always treated with dignity and respect.

Thomas Henshaw Court is a very welcoming and caring establishment. All the staff have a great rapport with the residents who are totally respected and provided with great care. The residents' rooms and the home's facilities are excellent. The residents also have access to well-maintained grounds at
all times. Following a stroke, my father's well being, self-esteem and happiness were improved considerably while at Thomas Henshaw Court.

The first thing you notice when you enter Thomas Henshaw Court is the atmosphere.
It's one of warmth and happiness.
Then you meet the staff and find them to be a wonderful cross-section of people who engage fully with the residents, and you feel an aura of "family".
Everyone is very friendly,
relaxed and more than helpful.
It's obvious that every resident is considered special, it shows in their faces. They look happy, they're loved, looked after, safe and secure.
My mother settled in very quickly and loves living there. She has made lots of friends and now has a social life and a new "family" to live with. There are regularly plenty of activities for the residents, who appear to absolutely love to engage in.
There are lots of visits from entertainers and all the residents and some extended family member to watch and enjoy!
The menu is well thought out, and the food is great. The dining room is attractively presented and pristine.
The resident's apartment are kept immaculate, the staff take pride in their work, and in the standard of care they provide.
One word to describe Thomas Henshaw Court "Excellent".

Our wonderful Mum, who passed away March of this year, was resident for 3 years. Throughout that time, she was cared for with love, kindness and ultimate respect.
We cannot express the gratitude for everything that was done for her and for us. Each team member made a positive difference. How many families
can say they had complete confidence that their loved one was safe, well cared for and they had made the 'right choice'.
We feel extremely fortunate and hope that they know the value we will forever place on what they did for her and for us. My brothers and I were also welcomed into that family, greeted warmly on each visit. At our darkest time, it was wonderful to receive the continued support - nothing was too much trouble.
We would, without hesitation, recommend anyone making the very difficult choice of what to do or where to go to approach Thomas Henshaw Court. We just wanted to place on record our gratitude to a wonderful team. Thank you Thomas Henshaw team - simply the best.

My first impressions of Thomas Henshaw Court were good and after twelve months I still feel very positive. The staff interact well with both residents and visitors. I have always found them courteous and respectful to residents and show great patience and good humour when dealing with difficult situations.

My father has been in Thomas Henshaw Court for 20 months now and to date, I have not had any reason to complain. I have seen some new carers in the last few months all of which have been well trained and able to do the many varied tasks required of them. All the staff carry out their duties with a smile
which is so reassuring when Dad is completely reliant on them.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.456)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.456) out of 10 for Thomas Henshaw Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.681 for Thomas Henshaw Court is calculated as follows: ( (103 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.681
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thomas Henshaw Court is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 registered maximum number of service users is 8.8, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
