Anchor’s Thomas Henshaw Court in Southport is a purpose-built home that supports up to 43 older people to live comfortably, while also providing dementia care. It is located in a quiet area of Southport within reach of the seafront.
Thomas Henshaw Court is proud to be Veteran Friendly Framework accredited and has completed the continued commitment. The home supports older people living with visual impairments.
The home strives to deliver a range of residential care services including convalescence care, respite care and long-term care for those who require 24-hour care. Thomas Henshaw Court continues to welcome new residents.
The care team gets to know customers and works with them to organise stimulating activities that match individual and group interests, both in the care home and in the local community. The team regularly assesses each customer’s needs to ensure their care plans meet their lifestyle requirements.
Fresh meals are cooked from locally sourced and seasonal ingredients, and where possible by highly trained catering colleagues.
Anchor operates on a not-for-profit basis, so it reinvests any surplus funds in its care homes and housing.

Our wonderful Mum, who passed away March of this year, was resident for 3 years. Throughout that time, she was cared for with love, kindness and ultimate respect.

Our wonderful Mum, who passed away March of this year, was resident for 3 years. Throughout that time, she was cared for with love, kindness and ultimate respect.
We cannot express the gratitude for everything that was done for her and for us. Each team member made a positive difference. How many families can say they had complete confidence that their loved one was safe, well cared for and they had made the 'right choice'.
We feel extremely fortunate and hope that they know the value we will forever place on what they did for her and for us. My brothers and I were also welcomed into that family, greeted warmly on each visit. At our darkest time, it was wonderful to receive the continued support - nothing was too much trouble.

I have seen some new carers in the last few months all of which have been well trained and able to do the many varied tasks required of them. Staff are first class but I feel sometimes Anchor Trust expect too much of them. For example when the chef not in staff are expected to cook, also when chef not in, residents do not get all that is on the menu. Office staff are not in at weekends so any problems have to be sorted by team leaders...
Staff are first class but I feel sometimes Anchor Trust expect too much of them. For example when the chef not in staff are expected to cook, also when chef not in, residents do not get all that is on the menu. Office staff are not in at weekends so any problems have to be sorted by team leaders who have hands full attending to residents.
The home is a lovely, happy friendly place to be, due to the caring staff.

My Dad has been at Thomas Henshaw Court for nearly 12 months. It was a big step up for him and our family. He has settled in well and we as a family feel reassured that he is cared for properly. I am a senior nurse myself in the NHS and I am very happy with the standard of care, compassion, communication and commitment of the staff shown towards my dad. I really feel he has a 'little home' within a big organisation and he tells me lots of stories! And it's good to see him interacting if needed, but also have his privacy/dignity maintained when reassured.

My friend's mum died in December 2016. I have full responsibility for him. I could not be more pleased with the service he gets. From the top to the bottom everyone is so helpful. He is deaf/blind and also has celiac. His diet is perfect, he loves his food and when I visit tells me what lovely...
My friend's mum died in December 2016. I have full responsibility for him. I could not be more pleased with the service he gets. From the top to the bottom everyone is so helpful. He is deaf/blind and also has celiac. His diet is perfect, he loves his food and when I visit tells me what lovely meals he has had. He loves going out and will soon be going on his second holiday to Llandudno with the home. He loves the daily newspaper reading, trips to the cinema, outings in the minibus and the chap who comes in and plays music. He also plays the piano for the residents. Music is his real love. Because of the care and support since his mum died he has settled well and now takes an active interest in day to day events. Fantastic home, thank you.
