I find the communication from managers to a very high standard. If any issue is found it is often resolved quickly. Carers appear to really love their work and this is reflected on how the residents react to them. My mother has been a permanent feature for some time and she has settled in nicely,
with carers regularly encouraging her to participate in all the activities, of which there are many. Quietly confident when I have to leave mum, that she is in good hands.
Reply from Vilawan Hawkes, Manager at Layston GroveThank you so much for your kind review. We are truly pleased to know that your mother is settling in well at Layston Grove and that you are happy with the care she is receiving. Your mother's comfort, well-being, and safety will always be our top priorities, and we are committed to ensuring she feels at home here at Layston Grove. Our door is always open, should you have any questions or if there is anything further, we can do, please don't hesitate to let us know.

My mother-in-law is currently at Layston Grove on long-term respite care following a bleed on the brain, we feel incredibly lucky that we found Layston Grove and that they had a place for her. The care that she is receiving is exceptional. All the staff from the management through to the carers to housekeeping
are incredibly kind and take real pride in their work. My mother-in-law has a lovely light airy room, which is very well equipped and always immaculately clean. Due to the nature of her injury she needed special sensors, which were ordered and installed very quickly. She always looks happy when we visit her and keeps on telling us how incredibly lucky she feels to be there.

I cannot praise Layston Grove enough as they are so meticulous in all that they do. A very friendly atmosphere, and nothing too much trouble. We are so impressed with everything. A recent meeting of the relatives was most informative and productive. A huge thank you to all concerned, for your care to
our relative.

My father was in Hazel End for just over two years and everyone involved with caring for him were amazing.
He was a wonderful man, but could also be a very tricky character, but they always treated him with great respect, dignity and humility, which would not always have been easy!
Hazel End was definitely
a lovely home for him, always clean and comfortable and there were always smiles to greet you regardless of the time of day.
When my father was nearing the end, they stepped up even more and not only just coped incredibly with him, but also always had time and support for me and my family.
Moving my father into a care home was one of the toughest decisions I have ever had to make, but without a shadow of a doubt, it was absolutely the right thing to do and I have counted my blessings so many times that it was Hazel end that we got him in to.
Thank you, you were all amazing and we appreciated each and everyone of you. You are all amazing!
P.S. We do miss you!

Excellent support and advice regarding placement review with social services. The manager provided information which helped to resolve a controversial situation. Our family greatly appreciate the consideration, time and effort which we received from the staff. This has given a positive outcome to a
distressing situation created by social services.

I have no issues with anything at this home. My elderly mother with dementia is well cared for in all respect. On my last visit, 17/3/26, I stayed with my mother, along with my sister, for lunch with mum. We were well catered for, food was well cooked, tasty, well presented, and even the head chef came
to speak to us. The whole experience was enjoyable.

We have had two relatives/friends in the care home for the last 4 years and always found it to be well run. It is always very clean, and staff at all levels are always very polite, caring and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. It is a very well run home, and the manager knows all the residents. The
senior carers are very good and always happy to discuss any queries, answer questions, and help with any needs. Communication is also key; we are always greeted well by reception staff, our only criticism is the food has not been as good of late.

Excellent care, but extremely poor funding advice

My mother was a resident at Hazel End Care Home for several months. The care she received was excellent. The carers were kind, compassionate and treated her with dignity and kindness. The facilities are very good. and the environment is welcoming

and comfortable.

However, the funding advice we were given was extremely misleading. Before my mother moved in, I made repeated enquiries about whether the home accepted Local Authority funding and whether they would negotiate rates if necessary. I was assured that this would not be a problem. This proved not to be the case, and my mother ultimately had to move after only just settling in. This was very distressing - there seems to have been either a serious level of incompetence or, worse, intentional misleading on the part of Hazel End Management.

I would strongly advise families to get clear guidance from the Local Authority about funding arrangements before committing.

My mother entered the home during covid - 2020. Her care has been amazing. She is very insular, so the carers always spend time with her chatting. She is 93 now, and from being very extroverted, she is quieter. However, all the carers understand and try and encourage her. Also, I would like to point
out how wonderful everyone has been with me, as I obviously am finding it very difficult!

The management made the process as smooth and supportive as possible, guiding us throughout. The staff work exceptionally well together as a team, making visits at anytime a pleasure. We feel our loved one is very well cared for and safe in a clean environment with all her needs met. The staff keep

We bought my 89 year old Mum into Hazel End for a 3-week respite after having undergone sudden emergency brain surgery, which affected her mobility, amongst other things.
Each & every member of staff have been absolutely amazing, nothing is too much trouble for them, Mum's care has been exceptional,
and she has enjoyed her stay here at Hazel End, so much so, that she has even said "If ever the times comes when I can't manage myself at home, I would be happy to live here". I, as her daughter, never thought I would hear her say that!
As a family, we can't rate Hazel End enough, they welcomed us into their family, and each and everyday that mum has been there we have not had to worry about a thing.
A massive thank you to all the management & staff at Hazel End.

My parent has been living in Layston Grove for over 6 years now. I had to write a review as I wanted to assist other families who are in the process of finding g a home for their relative to move into, I appreciate how this decision is so difficult and so important. My parent being at Layston Grove
for over 6 years speaks volumes. There is no way my mum would still be there if she wasn't receiving the FABULOUS and AMAZING care she receives. This is an amazing care home. Always very clean and well kept, there is always plenty to choose from on the menu as well as plenty of additional food options throughout the day. The kitchen have bent over backwards to ensure my mum has the food she desires. The secret weapon of Layston Grove who endure the success of this home are the staff. The team are second to none, from the maintenance guy to the kitchen to to the laundry and housekeeping teams to the front of house, to the Msnsgement and especially the care team. Simply FIRST CLASS.

My husband has been in Layston for a few weeks and I am very pleased with the level of care. The rooms are clean and well kept. The carers are lovely and genuinely care how the residents are looked after. Although he has dementia, my husband seems to like being at the home. The residents are not left
in their rooms for long periods of time and are encouraged to take part in the many activities. I was very worried about leaving my husband in a care home, but was finding it increasingly difficult to look after him at home. It has been a huge relief to find somewhere where I feel I can trust that he will be looked after properly.

My husband, Jeff, spent the last eighteen months of his life at Hazel End. He had dementia and at times staff had to literally run around after him. They were always patient and kind and seemed to see the person behind the illness. I never had any concerns about the care Jeff received and at the end
his palliative care was simply excellent.
