My husband has been coming to Ferendune Court for day care for 3 weeks. He has dementia so cant remember what he has been doing. The staff seem caring and are looking after him well. It gives me a break which is nice.

Do not send your relatives to this care home. I had to remove my husband over several safeguarding concerns. He care was appalling.

I am concerned for all the other residents that cannot speak for themselves. This home needs urgent official review.

My mum was at Ferendune court from 2021 until April this year. In her 5 years she was at Ferendune she was locked after really well, the staff there were very kind and caring and compassionate towards my mum, and she was very happy there she sadly passed away in April, but I have fond memories of my visits with her she was always happy and smiling and always pleased to see me, some of the staff very kindly came to her funeral which I appreciated very much. My mum was treated with respect and dignity and her care was excellent the home is a very welcoming place and it's always clean and tidy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ferendune court to elderly people as the care that they receive is exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate like extend my sincere gratitude for looking after my mum so well as this gave me so much comfort and peace of mind to know she was safe and happy there.

The staff at The Riding have been brilliant since my grandad was moved there a week ago. They have been so accommodating and have made us all feel comfortable leaving him. We are so pleased with the level of care and how they have listened to us as a family. The rooms are lovely and clean and the food is brilliant.

My mum has been in Ferendune for nearly two years, and she has had the most lovely care. She is warm, clean, and happy (in her own way, as she has dementia). The carers are lovely, and they always look after Mum's needs.

Every day, there is some activity going on, so she has stimulation, which helps her. She used to get a lot of infections (chest mainly), but now hardly any, so I would recommend Ferendune to anyone who is looking for a home for their loved ones.

All staff are lovely, very helpful. The entrance looks amazing inside and out. They do a brilliant job, whatever their role. But I do think the food could improve with more fresh veg instead of mostly frozen.

Concerned about randem residents going into room. Heating in bathroom not good.

Reply from Kelly Hill, Manager at The Ridings

Thank you for taking the time to review The Ridings and we are pleased you rate our safety/ security as excellent. We appreciate the opportunity to discuss these matters directly. We've provided different options regarding the bathroom heating. Due to a keypad now being installed on the corridor, access to residents' rooms should be limited. We're always happy to discuss feedback.

Review of Ferendune Court from G K (Daughter of Resident) published on 16 April 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
I am appalled on how frequently the lack of communication with myself was managed. I was rarely informed of my father's falls and each time I visited, I found another cause for concern regarding deteriorating health issues like bruises and skin discoloration which no one had noticed.
At my last visit I found out that I had purposely been ignored on my emails as it was instructed by the senior management team to not respond when I was just asking for a meeting to discuss what was happening with his health care.
I have had no apology to what I witnessed and no care to my distress. I now don't want to visit my father because they did not manage the situation at the time and since I have asked for clarification.

I don't want others to go through the same experience as the care home staff lack knowledge in the mental capacity act, and how to include close relatives in the care plan. I am sincerely disappointed.

Reply from Samantha Bell, Manager at Ferendune Court

Thank you for your feedback. The safety, wellbeing and dignity of every resident is extremely important to us. We take all incidents, including changes in health, very seriously and have clear procedures in place to monitor, record and communicate these appropriately. We recognise how upsetting...

My sister has been living here for some time but has had a spell in hospital. The welcome home she received was full of genuine love and affection for her and staff were truly happy to see her back. It was lovely to see how much she was appreciated.

I have found the home fantastic. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The lady of whom I have power of attorney has frankly never been happier. She was very worried and even frightened of going into a care home but is now quite the opposite.

Review of Ferendune Court from Raymond B (Husband of Resident) published on 2 April 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My wife has been resident at Ferendune Court for 20 months. She has vascular dementia so has very little cognition which affects her ability to communicate clearly. She also has mobility issues and is generally transferred by wheelchair.
The staff and carers at Ferendune are 100% committed to providing a homely, safe and loving environment. The range of abilities and disabilities they have to manage must be really demanding. However, along side their daily duties of personal care, catering, serving, managing medications, monitoring health, etc. they still find the energy and exhuberance to provide a wide range of activities that all able residents can enjoy and get involved in.
I can visit anytime of the day and I am treated as one of the community. Sometimes we will sit in her flat other times in one of the communal lounges.

To see how she is cared for and the fact she is generally smiling or laughing just like she always did puts my mind at rest.

Review of Ferendune Court from Ruth S (Respite Resident) published on 30 January 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

I came into Ferendune on respite at very short notice - 6 hours - with my husband, who has dementia, after an accident. I was shown so much care and concern about everything - nothing was a problem, and they always checked again to make sure. Their care to other residents was very obvious, as they would treat their own families. They even produced a cake on January 1st for our wedding anniversary. Stayed 5 weeks.
