What to expect.....
My Mum needed full nursing care. She stayed at Wetherby Manor for just over a year. It was closest to everyone able to visit her, felt pleasant and homely with a good reputation and had a place available. I still feel these were important factors in making our decision.
GOOD-
Beautifully furnished communal areas
Pleasant staff
Easy parking
Home made food
NOT SO GOOD-
Average hygiene of residents room and care for the resident- washing/ hair washing
Restricted access to coffee facilities for guests.
Very limited availability of carers to socialise with immobile residents
Inconsistent 'rules' about electric wheelchairs and dining with friends
POOR
No help with guidance on help with care home fees
Terrible organisation with hospital appointments and transport coordination
Inadequate assessment of furniture in rooms - Mum fell out of an armchair.

Nurses seem overworked and quite often agency staff. Notes/ communication is inadequate and frustrating

Dad recently had a fall resulting in a broken leg. Staff have been great, checking on his wellbeing, ensuring he is getting his medications and personal care. Whilst visiting, the staff are always friendly and engaging and happy to provide any information about Dad, ensuring he is as comfortable as possible. Thank you all.

My experience me as a brief resident and a longtime visitor and my wife as a long-term resident at Wetherby Manor has been excellent. The care and support were of the highest order and the Management and Staff attitudes were exemplary in all they did and we were treated at all times with professional dignity. The facilities were those usually found in a top-class hotel. Cleanliness was the byword. Meals were quite simply home from home... all a very high standard. The activities were varied and enjoyable. Maximum resident safety and security were the watchwords

Completely value for money Wetherby Manor is very highly recommended as an excellent care home. The senior staff are to be complimented on the standards and example they set.

As the daughter of a resident on Chester's, I am extremely happy with the level of care my mother receives. She is always clean and tidy. She is extremely settled and thoroughly enjoys the various activities. Now that she is a resident, she is properly stimulated. This is vital given her Alzheimers diagnoses. The staff are caring and kind, and mum is happy and content. Wetherby Manor is a wonderful place, and it is extremely well managed by both the senior management team and the team leaders. Simply put, a brilliant place.

The staff are welcoming and friendly as soon as you enter the home. The home smells clean and is very tidy. Rooms are spacious and well kept. The manager and the staff always make me feel settled if I have any worries. The activities seem to carer a wide area of experiences. The food is excellent and there are refreshments and fresh fruit available at all times. Overall a lovely home.

My father stayed, lived and enjoyed life at Wetherby Manor! The staff are great, there is a nice buzz around the place, and standards are very good. Keri, KP and Linda all went the extra mile for Dad. He loved the location in the middle of Wetherby with plenty going on. Lots of light, fun and lovely garden will greet you and your relatives if you choose, like we did, to come to Wetherby Manor. It is a very good place for your relatives to be safe and cared for, and for relatives to be reassured of good quality care, services and attitudes.

The staff at Wetherby Manor always go above and beyond for my aunts 90th birthday. We were able to have lunch with her in a specially decorated room, and the chef made a cake too. All the staff made my aunt feel very special on her birthday and she was so touched by everyone's efforts and kindness.

She was always well looked after with staff who not only looked after her practical needs but would spend time with her. When her needs increased the staff were great at keeping her warm and clean and cared for, popping in to see her regularly. On her passing the home was very understanding. My uncle has been residing at Wetherby Manor since May 2025. During the past months the exemplary care provided to him has made such a positive and significant impact on his physical and emotional wellbeing. During every visit he tells me that the food is well balanced and so good for his health. The staff are always very kind to him and I am extremely grateful for the compassion, kindness, respect and wonderful high standards of professional care being provided for my uncle. My uncle feels safe and has peace of mind which means the world. Thank you.

My mother was at Wetherby Manor for 2 1/2 years. She had dementia. Her care and love from all members of staff was first class. I wish her room had better beds/mattresses and a reclining chair.

Upon her final days, all staff were fantastic, dignified and helpful. I cannot fault the staff. The management was very separate but nonetheless efficient.

I cannot state strongly enough the high level of care provided to not only mum but towards ourselves too.
The staff are adaptable to mums changing needs. Without promoting the care and care plans are amended to meet her needs.
Always respectful, always on the ball (if not ahead of it) and always wonderful

This goes to all members of the team. It's like a caring immunity rather than a care home. Care is teamwork and it feels great to be involved every step of the way

My mum received the very best of care throughout her 3 1/2 years at Wetherby Manor. She then received both professional and compassionate nursing care during her final days where she remained as loved and comfortable as we could possibly hope for.

As a retired nurse, I recognise good care when I see it and good care is consistently offered to both my parents at Wetherby Manor. The staff are friendly and very well trained, maintaining excellent standards and seemingly genuinely fond of mum and dad. I live some distance away, so I cannot visit as often as I would like, so it is reassuring to know they are in such safe and kind hands. Thank you.

Unfortunately, my wife needed emergency care because I required the immediate fitting of a pacemaker. My wife was very pleased that a respite bed was available for her. She had suffered for many years from Parkinson's so her needs were many. I cannot speak more highly of the care and love she received form all the staff during her time here until her death on 12th July 2025. Wetherby Manor is an exceptional organisation and is a credit to the Anchor Brand.

Meet the Team (3)

Caroline Byron
Caroline ByronJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2022

Hello, I’m Caroline, the registered manager of Wetherby Manor. I have over 35 years of experience within the care sector, bringing a wealth of knowledge and understanding about the needs of the people we support.

During my time working in the care industry, I have had different roles that have provided me with varied experience and skills. I worked with Marie Curie, specialising in palliative care, I was the Deputy Manager of an Extra Care facility, a care co-ordinator in the community and I was registered manager of a care home in Selby for two years.

Seven years ago, I qualified as a nurse and worked in the elderly care ward at Harrogate District Hospital. Showing compassion to others and supporting them in times of need has always been a calling of mine, demonstrated further by my volunteer roles delivering complementary therapy to those still living at home on the palliative care pathway.

I am one of seven children, and we are all qualified nurses. So some might say the job is in my blood!

Just before I was born, my mother bought a care home which she ran, I grew up within that care home; learning and watching people to support others showing compassion, empathy, and kindness. That foundation has provided me with the life skills to support my passion for care in a professional way. I am very proud of my roots and my working life so far and am delighted to now be the registered manager of such a luxurious residential and nursing home in the heart of Wetherby.

The team at Wetherby Manor are diverse and passionate and I look forward to being able to support and expand their development as far as they want to progress.

I look forward to welcoming you to Wetherby Manor.

Please say hello or stop by for a chat on your visit, my door is always open.

If you ever have any questions please do not hesitate to approach me.

Away from work, I love spending time with my three children, my dog and my horses.

Hello! I’m Alison and I am the administrator at Wetherby Manor.

I have worked in payroll, recruitment and administration roles for 34 years so I have a lot of knowledge about the processes required to execute my role effectively.

I started my career within care in 2017 when I was a care recruiter; firstly, in Children's Services and then into Adult Services, inclusive of management teams for nursing homes, residential homes, supported / independent living, home care and complex care. I was responsible for over 25 clients recruiting the right people for their roles.

I have a diploma in payroll management.

At Wetherby Manor, I will support you and your loved ones with your resident contract, account management and other administrative duties.

I live in Leeds with my husband and three children – a boy 23, and two girls aged 12 and 9.

We own a Caravan on the East Coast which we love spending time at.
